What do you know, the system worked.

RTFA. He was staying in jail anyway, just a different jail.

Geez, by now Khadr should have killed like a bazillion innocent people according to the dire predictions of Levant and people here back when he was being brought back to his country. Was that hysteria ever silly!

My godness, a judge in Canada making the right decision. Something must be wrong. I am sure said judge will change his decision by Monday.

LAS you are such a complete and total idiot it defies description.

In order to balance out the honorary (and much deserved) Canadian citizenship for Malala Yousafzai, we should remove the Canadian citizenship of Khadr. Khadr is much more aligned with those who shot Malala than real Canadians.

Oh...and LAS, do you remember the name Sgt. Christopher Speer? I agree with the comment by BC...you really ARE a complete and total idiot.

Yay!

But put him amongst the general population and look the other way.

Now, I'm not saying we should condone murder, but if Khadr somehow ended up with a shiv in his back, a fresh review of the inmates to see if any have made efforts to redeem themselves would not be unwarranted.

Omar Khadr's role as a jihadi in Canada is to inspire other jihadis to action.

He'll be released around the time battle hardened Canadian jihadis return from training and fighting in Syria and Somalia. Then he'll engage in a cross-country speaking tour.

A moderate Muslim wrote to a local newspaper, stating that only 1 percent of Muslims believed in attacking innocent civilians in the service of Islam.

If true, Omar Khadr's first round of recruitment would be among those 9,000.

One thing the Canadian media failing to note is at the conclusion of his trial in the U.S., the jury recommended a 40 year sentence. A judge reduced it to 8.

The system has failed, because this useless piece of human garbage is still alive.

It is almost as good as the incarceration of 30 GreenPeaceniks in a Murmansk jail.
Speaking of which, GreenPeace has been issuing insulting remarks about the Russian
justice system. Just what is needed to make the eventual Russian judge really friendly
and kind!

Thank you, Santa!

And shut up, LAS!

With 100% hindsight, it now appears clear that whoever fired 2 shots into Khadr in Afghanistan should have followed up with 4-5 more, preferably to the head. Had this happened, we wouldn't be dealing with any of this BS and the loony left would have to find themselves a new mascot.

Putting him among the general prison population is the simplest way of dealing with the problem of housing him at taxpayers expense. An expense which can't be justified in these times when all non-essential expenses must be cut.

PeterJ and Loki, well said.

Gee, a convicted murderer stays in jail. How novel.

Why then do I get the sinking feeling that the evidence in the case, while more than sufficient to convict, has very little to do with this decision? Its an ugly thing when you start thinking the courts do what's convenient instead of what's right.

Oh and btw, what the hell do we do with this cretin in eight years when he's out and plotting again? Canada is a gun-free zone! What's the Great Multi-Culti liberal plan for when Little Omar shows up at Fairview Mall, loaded for bear?

Maybe we could have Omar Alerts. Little Omar's location sent live to your phone 24/7. Then we could all know when to hide. Wouldn't that be great? Yeah.

Except there LAS, provincial jails allow for weekend/daily release, and other various perks. And when overcrowded, they can simply shovel you off and out the door to make room for other people, leaving you free on your own recog.

the evidence in the case, while more than sufficient to convict

The evidence is tainted because he was probably abused. Any functional system would've acquitted.

LAS >

Your opinion is tainted because you were probably abused.

So you're concerned with process as opposed to actual crimes that were committed by Khadr? Just so we're clear here..
