I think John Robson hit on something which seems to be the root cause of all this Lefty/Native coalition belligerence against resource development. I agree with him that Canada's vast resource industry is extremely vulnerable to sabotage. I think the radical left knows this and they have recruited native radicals to "threaten" the resource industry (most likely with the threat of sabotage of pipeline or wells) - of course threats can be defused with a little extortion payola - greasing of the right palms as it were to "keep the peace" and ensure uninterupted production due to "accidents". - (call it good faith gratuities for "warrior" indulgence of resource development above any beyond any royalties that may be forth coming to a particular band). I believe this is next stage in the Aboriginal entitlement industry - shaking down resource companies to ensue nothing happens to any infrastructure which may cross or be on native land or native claims or to simply quell radials.

Many of these activists, warriors, protestors, etc. do not realize it or do not conceive of it in their own minds but their actions are part of a natural historical process. At best they haven't had a citizen's sense of belonging to our nation instilled in them, at worst they have gotten a sense of being of another nation in struggle against Canada. The other thing that should be done is to go after the US organizations who are funding these "spontaneous" protests. Time to do a bit of meticulous auditing of various "environmental" organizations as well as prohibiting any individual from one of these organizations from coming into Canada. It there was a sane government in the US, then Canada could work for RICO charges against these terrorist groups in the US which would result in a lot of people going away to jail for long periods of time.

The law enforcement is the part the crown gets to perform, or whomever they have delegated the task to, under the Magna Carta. If the Crown refuses to enforce its own laws, the crown is in breach of its agreement and its authority to rule. The longer people have to go in fear of harm to life and property, the stronger the argument becomes for them to act on their own.
For the sake of a peaceful resolution it behoves the authorities to enforce the law.

Have you noticed that all the Big Chiefs in Canada have taken on the wearing of the feathered headdress or warbonnet when they appear at one of their important meetings?
