About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Well, that confirms their motto, "Air Canada won't be happy until you are not happy"
Awesome quote.
Looks like Barak Obama found his thanksgiving "turkey" it's name is larry!
It's a dog folks I feel bad for the lady and her loss especially to and ignorant a$$ airline who showed there true colors (I will never fly air Canada EVER) but in a day or so the dog will return to it's natural instincts and start scavenging and eating what ever until it's picked up, killed or sliced into bite size pieces at the white house. hopefully someone finds him and returns him to this lady.
I say hire this guy as CEO of Scare Canada.
Don't we have enough dogs here already?
The dog either will be found, by a kind soul in California if not by Air Canada---in which case there is nothing to worry about---or it won't be---in which case it will go straight to heaven, dogs never having rebelled against God the way men did, and there is nothing to worry about. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be His name.
Now that's settled, the only real reason for complaint would be if there were proof Air Canada were not either making every effort to find the dog or prepared to transfer double the dog's value to Mrs. Kulic, with the funds to come from the pay of the eejit who let it loose. There's no proof of anything of the kind.
All we do know is that Air Canada employees were discouraged by management from commenting on the complaints of individual customers. Most firms would have done the same. Aside from the legal implications, if they wanted to comment on every trivial complaint they could spend their whole lives doing it.
And yes, you'd think the Sacramento affiliate of CBS wouldn't be in want of better scandals to expose, if you were so naive as to think their business was reporting news, not persuading Californians to buy garbage nobody needs with money they don't have, and repeating misinformation sourced from the offices of Jerry Brown and Barack Obama.
Obama has been quoted,"if I had a dog,er,another dog, he'd look just like Larry".
This is s damned good reason for Obama to see that Keystone NEVER gets built! Goddamned insensitive Canadians!
And I have to agree with the cynical AC guy, this must be a slow news day in the U.S., no shootings, no Republicans caught with another woman, Lindsay and Miley are behaving.....
Maybe PETA thought it was being shipped to the White House early for Thanksgiving dinner and released it.
As callous as Mr. Fitzpatrick is he does highlight the problem with the lame stream media. The federal government is running amok, the debt and deficit are out of control, a million veterans are going to be in Washington DC this week to protest the Barrycading of war memorials and a 'journalist' is working on a lost dog story.
As to the dog, airports are fenced in areas with controlled access gates. It will be a simple matter to find him and set some food and water in a fenced in area and close the gate when he comes to feed.
Obama's next dog will be named Teri (short for Teriyaki).
I really wish I hadn't read the comment section from the local CBS station website. Although I guess it is really to be expected from internet comments.
It is so discouraging to see the ignorant bashing of Canada from a people that have already gone over the cliff but are so filled with arrogant, self-importance, they don't even know it.
What truly galls me is how some commenters even felt the need to wrongly disparage our role in WWII when our casualty rate was far higher than the Americans.
America was a great country, but I am afraid with the current resident of the White House, you're done.
This just completely wrecked my day
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Mr. Fitzsimmons is likely to face serious consequences for speaking out of turn. In the large sense, however, I think his statement is quite correct.
The USA has enormous problems and its' various levels of government mostly make them worse. Its' big media mostly ignores that in order to report "dog bites man" stories.
The misdirected email was actually true.
The employee who opened the cage was actually trying to help the animal as it surely was sitting in its own filth.
Had they ignored the dog and left it uncleaned, and unfed, I guess everything would have been OK.
By the way, It was an American, not a Canadian, who let the dog slip it's confinement.
To be fair to AC, they sometimes help to find lost pets.
Missing cat found by WestJet at Vancouver airport
And some cats have the good sense to find themselves a new home.
The Tale of Transit Cat
It's not a zero-sum game. There is room in the media for both local stories of this nature, and national political stories. Simply because the national media are in bed with the Democrats and giving them cover on the national scale, it does not follow that a local news reporter is wrong in trying to cover a local human-interest story.
If it were up to me, the person responsible that e-mail would be kicking his lunch-bucket down Airport Boulevard before 4:00 P.M. As would the turd who let the dog loose. Ironically, Air Canada is handling the screw-up in much the same way as the Dims are dealing with the shut-down.
The problem isn't Canada, it's Air Canada. You really have to go out of your way to generate publicity this bad. They've made my list, along with United. I will grow wings first...
I've flown with my dog on Air Transat and WestJet with no problems at all - and both cheaper than Air Canada. The only problem I have had was shipping my dog unaccompanied on Air Canada. He was left behind while we settled in a new place and was shipped by my wife's uncle. Even though we had paid in advance, he was billed for the dog - when he sent the invoice to us, it was unilingual (ours was bilingual) so some employee had the old forms and was ripping off a senior citizen. To Air Canada's credit (on this one occasion) we had a cheque by return mail and I hope the employee is still sitting on a street corner on East Hastings Street. The shipping itself was a disaster anyway, as the dog was not walked or even let out of the cage for the flight from the West Coast to Toronto and then on to Europe. We were given an arrival time of 1:00pm but apparently he arrived on the 8:00am flight and was still in his crate. He drank three bowls of water and then would not look at us for three days... The return to Canada was by ship and that was a far better trip! Air Canada works hard to maintain a lousy reputation.
During the hey days of post WW2 Trans Canada Airlines
and its North Stars, the customers had a saying:
"TCA, first in the air, worst on the ground!"
plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
Air Canada has always been a vexatious irritant of Canadian crassness.
Its long past time the hand outs ended for them.
That said. The post though rude had a point.
While America becomes a dictatorship banana Republic under Obama. This is so small a fish, its not even minnow sized.
The dog I figure will be found. After all its worth more than a lost baby these days.
I always liked flying AC, as the stus were so ugly and ignorant you thought you were in heaven when you boarded the competitions flights
I can't imagine putting either of our "pups" (they're 6 1/2 years old, but still pups to us), on an airplane as cargo. I already know they would be totally traumatized. Is it possible to buy a seat for a dog?
Kate, how do you get your dogs around the show circuit? Do you ever travel by air?
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The employee who let the dog out of the cage to walk it didn't know that greyhounds love to run so, I'm surmising, it took off like a shot as soon as the cage gate was open. Undoubtedly why the owner left specific instructions not to let the dog out. Regarding the email, the employee's right.
Oh, my G-d! I just found out what happened to the dog.

Yikes Andycanuck! That pretty dog was changed into a rabid Old Yeller. I didn't have to scroll down; the first photo was enough for me.
Air Canada is, and always has been, a national disgrace. Fly West Jet.
