A civilization in decline aided and abetted by the mob.

so geezus threw the bankers out of the church, now the churches have set up shop in the banks:-))))

Erie photo essay - end of days type feel to it. Very indicative of the nature of the decline in America's culture/politics/economy - open to decay and safe from looters - books, libraries, anything related to literacy or a passion for knowledge.

Book of Eli writer must've gained his inspiration for the story from a trip to Detroit.

Take away term limits and there's Obama's America. With them, it's Hillary's second term.

That deserves a couple of "Twainisms":

“When I am king they shall not have bread and shelter only, but also teachings out of books, for a full belly is little worth where the mind is starved.”
― Mark Twain, The Prince and the Pauper

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.”
― Mark Twain

It's all the Tea Party's fault.

Took this from a comment section.

For those of you, including the author, who are not familiar with what the "tea party" is all about, it is about a common set of beliefs regarding the U.S., not limited to a particular political party, or any other category of American. Here are 15 beliefs common to most people who consider themselves to be a member of "the tea party":

1. Illegal aliens are here illegally.
2. Pro-domestic employment is indispensable.
3. A strong military is essential.
4. Special interests must be eliminated.
5. Gun ownership is sacred.
6. Government must be downsized.
7. The national budget must be balanced.
8. Deficit spending must end.
9. Bailout and stimulus plans are illegal.
10. Reducing personal income taxes is a must.
11. Reducing business income taxes is mandatory.
12. Political offices must be available to average citizens.
13. Intrusive government must be stopped.
14. English as our core language is required.
15. Traditional family values are encouraged.

Not in Canada eh?

Pity.

Rest in thoughts of what might have been Reform Party.

The "not my job"-ism on display here is stomach turning. This is what you get when people work for a paycheck and don't take pride in their job. Its also a graphic example of what happens when government employees and their cronies steal all the money meant for a project.

Dear Lefties, look upon your works and despair.

The building is similar to the "beaches branch" in the Toronto library system. It was built in 1915 with a Carnegie endowment. It has recently undergone a major renovation. It was my local branch, and it is a beautiful building. It really brings a tear to my eye to see what Detroit has managed to do to theirs.

While I'm saddened it's no surprise. That's how 90% of Detroit looks. The city was abandoned by those who can read long ago.

A derelict library. Could there be a more fitting testament to the inevitable end-products of increasingly Liberal Democracies.

I used to ride the bus past this library on Woodward Avenue when I was a student at Wayne State University. I would always look in awe of the marvelous architecture of this building, though I knew better, even in the 80's than to step off the bus and walk in.

What a complete shame.

I have always loved libraries. The smell to the feel of the books. This is a form of desecration of our own Culture. That our society has degenerated so bad it now abandons its own heritage is depressing. The thought they wouldn't even take away the books show a level of apathy that only people from the dark ages using parchment of priceless ancient literature, for toilet tissue could appreciate.
Barbarism has replaced civility.
The ignorant have triumphed.

PMSH has clearly shown that no upstart movement can survive the corruption of the party system. The current CPC isn't even a shadow of the principles of the Reform movement that led to it's existence.

For those blaming this downfall purely on the ideological left, that is simply lazy, stupid, partisan-infected thinking.

"Barbarism has replaced civility.
The ignorant have triumphed."

Exactly! Under the fruits of socialism, soon all of the US will look like that. Think former Soviet Union and Greece today.

This looks like a lot of buildings in the Caribbean I used to see; beautiful structurally but falling apart. And no one seemed to care.

It's the derelict attitude not the lack of funds that's the problem.

Oh, and the real problem? They didn't build it.

What interest does a materialist have in the immaterial? Why would the ignorant care about knowledge? Liberal/Socialist/Islamist/Atheist all care not a wit about the passing on knowledge or keeping knowledge alive.

Coming to a Canadian city near you soon enough.
The future of libtard/progressive policies.

atheist |ˈāTHēˌist| noun
a person who does not believe in the existence of God or gods:

Why would an atheist, of which I am one, not care about knowledge and ensuring its passage to future generations? Because someone, through logic and analysis, does not believe in some mythical being they somehow are evil!

Nothing to do with socialism, progressivism, liberalism or the democratic party.
Africans don't read, that's all.

Cuba, after the Americans left....
