. @ElizabethMay Perhaps that's because no one was shot in the back while risking their lives to flee eastward over the Iron Curtain.

Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

SMACKDOWN.
Brilliant. The history of the last half of the 20th century in one terse exchange.
I do not post often, although I enjoy the posts by many here......
This one post was awesome I love it!!!!!
Too bad no reporter north of the blogesphere will let it see the light of day. And PabloNH has said all that needs to be said.
So Little Lizzie May has let her mask drop and she now finally reveals herself as a full blown Marxist. Pretty stupid move, Lizzie.
What PabloNH said is so right.
Joey, exactly.
Jason Kenney must have taken lessons from Kate. ;-)
Is Jason, Kate's male clone?
Wheels in Wheels Bendreth (or something like that)
Hell yah!
And Green = Red, which explains an awful lot, doesn't it?
For some reason Lizzy thinks she represents normal people. There is nothing normal about her or her moonbat constituents. She is truly the special olympics in politics and like the pride parade, normal people just like to be entertained by freaks and village idiots. That's as far as I'll go to defend her because I'm Canadian damnit and it's just the politically correct thing to do. Nuts are people too. Ask Libby Davis.
Watermelon Lizzie - green on the outside but red through and through.
Nice smackdown although I have a strong feeling that the beached whale and her moonbat supporters won't understand Jason Kenny's comment. Maybe they're less favorably disposed to their friends in the Kremlin now that a group of fellow watermelons are in jail for piracy. However, they're all anticapitalist and presume that their high tech toys will keep on coming even after they've started living the ideal watermelon lifestyle.
Considering that they consider themselves to be "special" and thus deserving of different treatment than the great unwashed peasantry, they have very much in common with the former ruling class of the USSR who, when then writing was on the wall, quickly became committed capitalists.
Loki
" quickly became committed capitalists"...self preservation is the strongest trait humans have, which makes suicide bombers the oddest of humans:-))))
Yeah well...I have noted these Marxists especially the green variety are not really all that quick witted....Fry-fly guy is an example....
As Loki has illustrated the ruling class, is the ruling class generally, the different political systems just sort them out differently....same element...George Orwell's Animal Farm showed this....users are users.
Those users on the bottom of the food chain, usually just get used.
Beaver is just a moron...trying to get in front of a perceived parade....
Leftards don't have a sense of humour and don't get sarcasm.
Ellie May's studying for the Anglican priesthood, a becoming-extinct species. She's behind the eight ball, for sure.
Having met Mrs May, I don't think that she is actually a Marxist. Most actual Marxists know something about what Marx wrote and his analysis of economic and social issues. Marxists have a coherent (if badly flawed) ideology. Mrs May has a backpack full of ill-formed ideas, fuzzy sentiments, and contradictory and intrusive solutions. She is a Justin Trudeau Liberal; she just doesn't know it yet.
Beautiful.
Kenney later tweeted this follow-up:
Or perhaps that's because free societies didn't murder tens of millions in gulags, planned famines etc
While I completely enjoyed the sentiment and content of the "smackdown" ...if one were even remotely intellectually honest they would have to concede that their have indeed been victims of capitalism.
to think that bat crazy broad has now made it to full MP pension. thanks BC
I believe it should be flee "westward" over the Iron Curtain (Berlin Wall) etc., but otherwise Mr. Kenny is spot on in responding to this type of moral equivalency the Left like Ms. May engage in, all the time.
EarlP Kenny was exactly right in the eastward comment. In other words more victims of communism were trying to come to the west than victims of capitalism were trying to flee east. So much so the victims of communism were often shot for their efforts. The victims of capitalism stayed home and collected welfare.
That was too perfect - Kenney & May, the new hit comedy team soon to be gracing a Vegas stage near you.
"The best since Martin & Lewis" - Sun News
And guess who plays the goofy lunatic (Lewis) role...
Hey Grey Lady, please give us an example of a victim of capitalism.
@Joe - of course, you're right (too early for me, I guess -coffee.not.working.yet.)- so, in the words of Emily Litella "Oh, that's very different. Never Mind!!!".
There were many victims of the people who were capitalists in the days of the "Robber Barons", JD Rockefeller, JP Morgan, etc., but again, the theory is always perfect or nearly so,while the practitioners are merely human.
In the minds of the communist/union cabal, anyone who was ever laid off from a private company is a "victim" of capitalism.
May's website before the 2011 election was a true look into her perverse world view, the woman is totally on board with UN agenda 21. I was astounded by her "plan" to force people into massive housing developments along rail lines, thus no need for cars, and all the rest of that green lunacy.
May is an enviro-nazi in the guise of a "nice" environmentalist,if there is such a person.
pete
the success of capitalism allowed the welfare system to prosper, and it is loaded with victims, or vicdums, take yer pick
one needs to define their definition of victim!!
PeterJ -- While most of us are conservative, we are not also bigots. It is not necessary to ridicule a fine organization for the disabled (Special Olympics) and allude to gays as "freaks" to comment on Lizzy May's idiocy. Unfortunately, it is this kind of thoughtless use of language that has many people dismissing conservatives as "red necks" -- which for the most part we are not.
peterj makes a humorous comment and a 'thoughtless use of language' policeman chimes in to tell him 'how white his shirts could be'.
Good grief, Lindal, did you ever take a wrong turn at Albuquerque when you stopped by to drop that turd.
Lindal: I'm proud to consider myself a bigot. Yes, I'm a bigot. I'm also a proud "red neck". Like a lot of people I know, I support the Conservative Party of Canada because it's the least worst choice available . . . . but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm a conservative.
"I was astounded by her "plan" to force people into massive housing developments along rail lines, thus no need for cars, and all the rest of that green lunacy."
Don, Lizzie's plan was right out of Stalin's playbook. Stalin said everybody should be able to walk to work. Hence you have industry scattered throughout Russian and Ukrainian cities with large apartment complexes surrounding them. I have seen them. The plan also included being able to walk to work in the Gulags.
Havent't heard much from "Teeth" this summer.
It's been a good year.
Sighhhh - it's just so sad to see politicians in the federal sphere steeped in this irrelevant outmoded radical Marxist dogma. It is living testament to the fact the federal political culture is permeated with low talent, non-cogitative nescient rent seekers who have little or nothing to offer in running the nation's business. Most are unemployable in the private sector.
Lizzy May tops my list of Pee-Pees = pointless political parasites.
I'm a victim of capitalism. Thanks to capitalism, I can drive to work in my own personal vehicle with air-conditioning, heated seats and an excellent stereo system on which I can listen to broadcast radio, CDs or songs I downloaded onto my MP3 player. On my way home I can stop at a store and choose from Alberta beef, Ontario pork, shrimp from across the pacific, salmon (wild or farmed) and buy veggies from California (in the dead of winter) to accompany it. Once at home a plethora of choices are available for my entertainment, I can read a real book or buy one on kindle, surf the web, watch a DVD, etc. If I wish to go out there are restaurants and movie theaters or I can go to a mall containing a hundred or more stores and purchase anything from a pair of socks to a winter vacation.
Oh woe is me! Capitalism is crushing me underfoot with all this freedom to choose what I want to do.
Could it be that the smiley face at the end of Lizzie May's statement means she believes there are no victims of capitalism?
The tweet is vague enough that it's open to interpretation. If nothing else, it's bad communication style.
Keep piling on though if you must.
Pete once upon a time Unions were a necessary tool to get workers a fair wage and safe work place. They weren't the joke that they have become, they were instrumental in ending the company system where a worker was entrapped by an employer. Where they didn't have to live in poor company provided shanties, on company property, and they were paid by company made currency that could only purchase items at the inflated priced, poor quality items of the company store.
Ludlow massacre:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludlow_Massacre
setyoufree - Lizzie Nay's smiley face at the end of her post is because she figures she just nailed her right wing bigot antagonists with a zinger.
But then, she figures anything she says is a zinger. Kind of like your "keep piling it on" turn of phrase.
Grey Lady, in exchange for your example of the victims of capitalism here's an example of the victims of communism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor
Capitalism is not perfect, but such incidents as the Ludlow massacre are few and far between and do not reoccur. Other political/economic systems number their victims in the millions or ten of millions and the government policy causing the atrocities persist for years or decades.
Considering the Green Party purports to believe in free markets, I believe her comments were ironical in nature.
Then, Jason Kenney's response confirmed why no monuments to victims of capitalism need to be built.
That's the way I read it if that's OK.
And I'll resist taking a personal shot at you, although if it makes you feel better to take a personal shot at me for no apparent reason, go ahead.
Al you don't have to point out the pitfalls of communism to me, I am well aware of them...
All I was suggesting, unlike your reply, of course there were victims of capitalism. Human life has always been cheap to the upper classes the globe over. That did not change just because capitalism took over the feudal system. The industrial revolution was wonderful for those that could cash in on it, but the actual workers? Not so much. Who had the money and education to cash in on the advances/innovations in society? The upperclass for the most part and they used the worker (for the most part) mercilessly and saw them a constantly disposable/renewable asset.
You are right about what Capitalism has afforded you, your list is impressive and true, however how many people died on unsafe jobs or in the fight to bring that to you? More then you can imagine.
What you described isn't capitalism, it's slavery and fraud. Initiation of force is inimical to capitalism.
If only Kenney and company weren't themselves waging war on capitalism and free movement of people.
I was using their accepted definition of capitalism...
If you were a victim of capitalism, that was your choice. No one forced you to participate. Same can't be said for socialism.
cant wait for them to dump the nickle , then I wont be reminded of her every second flip
"Considering the Green Party purports to believe in free markets, I believe her comments were ironical in nature."
"Purports" *is* the operative word.
Lizzie May is the reason Justin is not going to get past third place next election.
Socialism is a totally man made construct. It is only created when one takes control of another through violence, taxation, or any of a myriad ways of pressuring the productive.
Capitalism is not an ideology, it's the natural state of civilized men.
I found some apples in the forest. You have some dodo eggs. We trade between us because you want an apple and I'd like an egg for breakfast. That's human nature. No one had to be instructed on the transaction.
No one naturally ends up as a socialist. It MUST be shown and instructed by those who always take a bite of the apple or fry up an egg they didn't find or grow.
Beauty Jason, that deserves a beer!

Lizzie Commie.
Communists, today's socialists, collectivists. Don't want to be reminded their ideology has produced nothing but corpses with failed states.
Collapsed societies.
That Marx is a buffoon that has killed 100.s of millions on a theory that brings nothing but mass death in the end. Socialism is Zimbabwe, not Utopia. It crates Detroit's . Yet our education system never mentions this.
Having met Jason Keney in person I can say he's the real deal. Next pm for sure.
"Lizzie May is the reason Justin is not going to get past third place next election."
And the reason ??
