It is disquieting for future democratic discourse in our society when rabid leftist media personalities feel comfortable publicly ridiculing and slamming anybody who disagrees with them. It is becoming more blatant with every decade, and they must smell victory.

I figure Palin is pragmatic enough to know she is damaged goods politically (right or wrong) but because she lives rent free in their heads she can get them to expend resources.....

So what you are telling me NME is that your atheism is the result of gun induced brain injury. Likely you were cleaning an 'unloaded' rifle when the round in the chamber went off and left your brains scattered all over the far wall. As a general rule you never point a rifle or handgun at anything you don't want to shoot. I would ask a fellow I knew to clue you in but the shotgun he was mishandling removed a good portion of his intestinal tract minutes before he died. I used to shoot competitively and at one point I could put 10 .22 rounds from ten shots inside a 1/4" circle 20 yards away with out the aid of a scope. One of my fellow competitors had the bad habit of resting the muzzle of his rifle on his foot. For some unknown reason the rifle fired a bullet between his toes. He still has the scars to remind him that "YOU NEVER POINT A RIFLE AT ANYTHING YOU DO NOT WANT TO HIT!!!!!"

Sarah, if you want to show me how expert you are with a rifle - lean the killing machine the other way. It won't spoil the picture.

NME: telling a fact is not a boast when it is done to show that the commenter has some experience with firearms. I didn't wake up one morning and decide that I could shoot accurately. Rather from years of experience and thousands of rounds fired I became proficient at hitting the target. Part of that proficiency was being safe. Safe included never setting down your rifle with the bolt closed. The bolt remained open and the chamber clear until you were about to fire the rifle. If you were about to fire your rifle but had to go some distance, as you do when hunting, you put a round in the chamber, closed the bolt and put on the safety. If you put down your rifle for any reason the bolt is opened and you make sure the muzzle is not pointed at you or anyone else. Fortunately for me the adrenalin rush I got when I shot bear didn't cloud my judgement so badly that I posed with a potentially loaded weapon aimed at my head.
