About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Was that Lady Gaga?
one mayor cleaned the mess up and the current mayor, one of the wealthiest people in America, is unable to keep the house clean.
It looks like the governments “War on Poverty” is going just as well as “The War on Drugs”.
Hey I know they should open their borders wide open and let in millions of illegal aliens especially violent sexual predators infested with all kinds of infectious diseases to help out the new unaffordable Universal Health Care system.
It has been suggested that what should be done now is just remove all warning labels.
Oh yes, don't tell dumbos that dangerous sex is dangerous. And street drugs are good
for them. The NYC situation is a perfect model of the New Order. A rich liberal elitist
lives in a safe enclave worrying about "his people" drinking too many sugary drinks,
while outside the proles live lives of total misery.
Below (literally) the people who live in subways are those who live in the extensive
spaces in New York associated with ducting, piping, etc. "Filth" and "squalor" doesn't
begin to describe them.
Is there something wrong with the words "filth" and "squalor", Ms. McMillan?
You haven't gone all ladylike and squishy, have you?
Or are you astounded that I seem to be agreeing with you?

I guess TTC wants you to call the cops so they can shoot him.
The article says there are "1,841 homeless" in NYC.
First off - wow. I'm impressed that they can be so accurate. But I think Fred found a place to stay yesterday, so they're off by 1.
Second - spent a week in Manhattan earlier this year, and took the subway a number of times. Didn't find it overflowing with homeless - in fact, can't remember seeing one - but I did see a bunch of entrepeneurs. One kid had a box of chocolate bars/gum, etc, and was walking through the cars selling them to people who, rushing to catch a train, didn't have time to stop at station kiosk. Another had an insulated bag of cold water bottles, which in the 90+ degree heat, were welcomed by many. Finally, a small troupe walked through cars and periodically found enough space to do some break dance moves, and pass a hat. All of it strictly verboten on the TTC, of course, and yet none of it was distressing or a nuisance.
BTW, every person mentioned above, with the exception of one dancer, was black. From time to time, it appears there are some here who believe every unemployed black kid slings dope, or is involved in crime. I was impressed by these kids.
My 23 yo daughter takes the bus to school .... last year she had her wallet lifted from her purse or pack three times .... the thieves were practiced pick pockets and purse snatchers using the rush hour crowding for cover and targeting the university/college students.
Some were caught eventually but little consequence.
KevinB, I've been in the NYC subway too. My experience was somewhat less salubrious, shall we say.
Buying stuff off these kids is like feeding the bears. Pretty soon the bears aren't eating out of your hand, they're eating your hand.
Still, I'm pretty sure I'd sooner deal with bears. Less dangerous.
This Mayor is an Obama supporter. Does he really want to make America better. Seems all of his supporters want it a wasteland.
