Make for one your juxtapositions, Kate. Bus renegade in Canada, home of the guns-are-not-a-Canadian-value brigade, is shot 9x by an official member of the guns-are-not-a-Canadian-value brigade, whereas in the US of A, home of the guns-are-an-American-Tradition brigade, renegade is tasered instead. In Canada, you just have to come to a gun fight, no weapon needed to be brought(but being mentally ill is a plus). In the US, if you didn't bring a gun, nobody needs a gun. Now, who's got this force/defence thing right?

It's so so much better to be a private driver and content with every idiot who can get a driver's
license (I drove across NF this last week with the stepdaughter, who is a good driver. I had
forgotten what complete morons and total incompetents most private drivers
are. I would far rather leave the driving to a professional, in a large vehicle.

John, the issue in this case, as it has been in so many of these posts, is not the competence of the bus driver, but the fact that availing oneself of public transit means that one has to rub shoulders with the very dregs of society, Liberals, Dippers, unionists, and suchlike.

And you can be quite certain that the Progressive bien pensants that wish to force all of us into those smelly buses will happily cruise around in their chauffeur-driven limos on roads that are nearly traffic-free, thanks to them having forced most of us out of our cars.

There are so many instances of cops shooting suspects to death in non-life threatening situations in the US, that you have to wonder if this is a non-contractual concession the cop's bosses have yielded them.

And the police always seem to arrive only when all the shooting has stopped.

I think the deciding factor on what level of force was used was that two passengers were literally in contact with Vanhagen. Can't go around accidentally shooting good samaritans. Also notice that the responding officers don't appear to be the least bit rattled, as if they've done this many times.
