Transatlantic Sessions is a long-running television program - the first series began 18 years ago - in which highly-adept performers of mostly traditional/country/folk music from both sides of the Atlantic join together in Scotland to play music in intimate settings. In tonight's Tips music, from the sixth series, England's Teddy Thompson, the son of British folk-rock legends Richard and Linda Thompson, is backed by a house band including the series' musical co-directors, Shetland Island fiddler Aly Bain and legendary American lap steel player Jerry Douglas, along with Mary Chapin Carpenter, Aoife O'Donovan, Julie Fowlis, and Karen Matheson on background vocals, as he beautifully interprets George Jones' classic She Thinks I Still Care.

Sultan Knish: Chris Matthews Accuses Ted Cruz of Racism Against “Brown People”

'Chris Matthews is a fat white man who is an expert on racism. Like an 1880s gold prospector, Matthews can find racism anywhere. Sometimes he just spends hours in the frozen foods aisle randomly pointing at things and screaming “Racism!”'

http://frontpagemag.com/2013/dgreenfield/chris-matthews-accuses-ted-cruz-of-racism-against-brown-people/

Breitbart's Senior Editor at Large and Government Accountability Institute president Peter Schweizer appeared on yesterday's Hannity show on Fox News.

Schweizer said there is documentation that the Obama campaign and political committees associated with Obama solicited donations from companies after the Justice Department filed civil and criminal charges against them.
Schweizer said this is a "huge problem" and there is "statistical evidence" in (his) book that proves the chances of going to jail are lessened if political contributions are made.
"You cut your chances of going to jail in half if you make a contribution"…
Schweizer said the top five positions in the Department of Justice, beginning with Holder, were all campaign bundlers for the Obama campaign, and this is unlike what Washington has seen before.

And here I thought everything was on the up-and-up. /sarc

WOW!
You're killing me over here, EBD. That T.S. clip's a killer.
I've got 4 or 5 Transatlantic Session DVD releases from the UK, but I hadn't heard or seen that one.
More Canadian money going to Amazon UK, I expect...
Many thanks for that, sir.

Re: Video ''She still thinks I care.''

What a voice!! That boy can sing! Thanks eh!

By making overtures to Iran, Obama has pissed off the Saudis. Is there nothing that man can't screw up ?

Thanks Mike. Like usual Tarek is saying what everyone needs to hear. He might be preaching to the choir here and to most people on the right, but I venture to say most people on the the left choose to keep their ears muffed.

The 2 videos he has posted below the one you linked(on the Glenn Beck Show) should be watched by everyone in the western world.

As a general proposition, which is well-advocated by SDA, if you want to know the truth, strip away the media "interpretation", go to the original material and form your own view. In the case of the cut and thrust of Canadian politics (in case anybody doesn't know), go to:

http://www.cpac.ca/en/programs/question-period/episodes/24815616/

which was yesterday's question period. They're up there daily. By any objective standard, the result is clear.

Sorry, but I can't resist a little editorializing: I thought Tom was a little more forensic, circumspect and uncertainly accusatory than usual, which was refreshing, and that Justin was truly pathetic, beginning as he did with a typical dim-witted and meaningless Liberal piety ("leaders need to be accountable").

Oh, ya? Where's the missing $40 million, Justin? He's making precisely the same mistake that Jean Charest did as federal PC leader: calling for Stephen Harper to answer questions under oath, but ignoring the past abuses of his own party's establishment. Why not exorcise that demon just as Harper finally did in respect of Mr. Mulroney, who, at the end of the day, after what seemed decades, beginning during the latter's 1983 leadership run (Dalton Camp's claims), of innuendo, completely refutable assertions, lawsuits, etc., took a whopping $300K from Karl Heinz Schreiber, which Mr. Mulroney then declared and paid tax on?

Mr. Trudeau, Jr. is such a poseur.

Quite apart from which, the opposition "leaders" made all of Mr. Harper's points for him on the Senate "expense scandal": it's not really clear to me how the media narrative can start as "Harper deliberately appointed a bunch of thieves to the Senate" and then, on a dime, turn into "Harper is a power-abusing monster who made the victims pay." I could say more on Ms. Wallin's and her cadre's sense of entitlement, but I won't for now...

But you'd never actually get any of that from the CBC or CTV: the highly-edited clip I saw positioned Justin as young, dynamic and outraged, and Stephen Harper as old, red-faced and fat. Having seen it, I unfortunately made the mistake of excoriating my dear recently-widowed mother for watching the crap (very bad form on my part).

I do feel that SDA has given short shrift to coverage of the Throne Speech and CETA. Unbundling of cable packages is very exciting: we will be getting rid of CTV News Channel, or whatever it's called now, CNN and ALL CBC, at the earliest possible moment, and replacing them with Sun and Fox. I don't care what it costs: CBC's market price could be so negative that it would offset my entire cable bill, and I still wouldn't have it in this household (I won't pay more currently, for Sun and Fox, to support the cable industry, frankly, as they should be part of basic news service offerings right now). It takes a particularly unique kind of genius to make CBC suffer the death of a thousand cuts. Why, I can even hear the question period exchange now:

Mr. Trudeau, Jr.: "You're killing a national institution!"

Mr. Harper: "We're doing no such thing. We're simply offering those who wish to view their offerings a fair opportunity to do just that."

Delicious. As Alphonso Gagliano said, "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

As for CETA, I can report a conversation I had the other day, on my doorstep, with a very prominent mostly-retired member of the national business community, with whom my wife and me have been acquainted from the London and Stratford ON areas for many years and whose name most here would recognize, who lives near us and about whose health we have been somewhat concerned of late. He walks alone, sort of stooped, by our house three or four times per week.

He instantly became his old self when we began talking about CETA and the political situation in Ontario: he told us that he had recently returned from a business retreat and that he could not believe how many business organizations are excited about CETA and about how all of them want an election in Ontario now, because of the "complete mess". All will be supporting Tim Hudak. He feels that Hudak can win with a good campaign, but expressed the concern that he heard that the Ontario Liberals will attempt to position themselves as a bulwark against the NDP. I demurred, suggesting that the only reason the Liberals remain in office now is win NDP support...

Sorry for the screed. We have snow here.

Just so you know, Danielle Smith and her friends are about to gut the WildRose party of any soul or purpose at the AGM. Like getting rid of the plank regarding elimination of the Alberta HRC. Is there anybody out there who can do anything about it?

Fort Hood, former workplace of Nadal Hassan:

Soldiers attending a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood say they were told that evangelical Christians and members of the Tea Party were a threat to the nation and that any soldier donating to those groups would be subjected to punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

(emph. mine)

A soldier who attended the Oct. 17th briefing told me the counter-intelligence agent in charge of the meeting spent nearly a half hour discussing how evangelical Christians and groups like the American Family Association were “tearing the country apart.”

I hope Americans will realize soon what they're up against. The country is going to have to come to blows at some point if it's to survive.
