How to play Risk. An excellent game, well worth learning. That is if you aren't spending your late teens/twenties in the Choom Gang.

I was introduced to the game of risk about 40 years ago. If that video is correct, the rules have changed in the meantime.

This is great. The Saudi's have developed a test for gayness. Guess that means pride day is unlikely in the near or far future. Heh.

Never knew there was a test.

We play Risk. Wore out two boards.

The object is to get Gary out first...

Wasn't the same game when they went from wood to plastic pieces...

Dirtman, I have a Risk game that's over 40 years old and spent many a winter in Calgary playing Risk with friends. You're right, the new game seems to be nothing like the one from that era. There was no such thing as a "cease fire" card, it was either play until someone one or until all players except one fell asleep.

That Risk video brought back many fond memories from 40 years ago. Five super-competitive guys. Inevitably, someone would kick the board into the air, armies and dice flying everywhere. We never finished a single game. An anachronism in this post-Ritalin world.

I played a bit of Risk when younger.

It would make a good analogy for the world today.
I think we should pull all our pieces out of Africa,Asia, and the Middle East and line them up on the borders of the Americas. The two other guys,Team Commie and Team Islam can fight each other across the oceans while we build our forces.

It may be the only way to win.

The game is indeed rather different today than it was originally. I find the new version annoyingly progressive and refuse to play it. But I do play the "old" version on occasion, using the set I got for Christmas in 1977. I have a winning strategy that most folks cannot fathom until it is too late. Magnificent game.

"The harsh realities of electric vehicles in China"

"China, like the rest of the world, needs to see major breakthroughs in battery technology to ensure the viability of electric cars. Maybe the Chinese, who have registered thousands of patents in the field, will make that breakthrough.

As an Audi official told me this summer when the company shelved its R8 e-tron all-electric sports car, “We need batteries with twice the energy density at half the cost.” Until battery breakthroughs occur, don’t expect too many sunny days in Beijing."

"... and it is also environmentally friendly.”

"Electric cars have been especially popular in Norway because of generous subsidies, free parking, government-provided re-charging stations, the right to use express lanes on highways and exemptions from tolls."

"Currently only 12 of the new Teslas are available on Finn.no, Norway’s top classified website with asking prices of up to $130,000."

Risk is one of the worst games ever. You basically just hoard cards.

I`d love to see reliable stats on that claim!

Patrick Moore, the co-founder of Greenpeace, has an article up at the G&M about Greenpeace's campaign against golden rice. He does not care much for the organization any more.
