Today we'll feature something that has nothing at all to do with current events, The first 10 minutes of Part 1/6 of the BBC's Ancient Rome The Rise and Fall of an Empire. The rest of Part 1/6 are there too, as is the whole of the series, if you're inclined.

Not sure about that, lance.I think it has a heck of a lot to do with current events. What's that saying about he who fails to learn from history?

lance, I watched that series and recommend it to anyone interested in history. Many lessons in there that apply to today.

Another lesson in Government efficiency that can relate to Obamacare and even the Human rights museum in Winnipeg. The estimated costs are never the real costs.

"Besides, banks shouldn’t be obscenely profitable: they’re intermediaries, and in an efficient economy their profits should be quite easily competed away. When bank profits are high, that’s a sign that the bank in question is extracting rents from the economy, rather than helping it to grow."

Yet another unthoughtof and unintended (maybe) consequence of the U.S. Government "shutdown":
http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/Govt-Shutdown-Highlights-Aviation-Safety-Requirements220685-1.html

Apparently the government of the US can confiscate money from a bank account of any American citizen.
No reason given, no crime committed, the paper pushers just decide and puff, yer money is gone.

Just like that.

Watch this: http://ij.org/miforf

There is a youtube video that is a compilation of the several times Obama says he is a Muslim. He is proud of his Muslim heritage.
So we'd have to ask, Is he one of the moderate Muslims we're always hearing about who do not support the terrorist factions?
He has never spoken of his alleged Christian faith with the same fervor nor has he credited the Jews or Christians with any of the advances in society. All praise was heaped, and I do mean heaped, on Muslims.
Therefore, I can believe what Walid Shoebat is repeating from a reputable source.

Lance, thanks for that episode on Rome. I question the current events thought of yours. This time instead of Caesar giving the Roman Republic the coup de grass it is Marxism.

Does anyone know where or if the complete series can be purchased? I and my grandson would be greatly pleased to know.

George, extracting rents is what banks do. That's why they've monopolized the power to issue money, which they create from nothing---for the express purpose of reaping where they never sowed.

Intermediaries? You mean a few jackasses in Toronto and New York and Zurich get to pick where the surplus of the civilized world will be invested? They had a system like that in the Soviet Union. Central planning on a global scale by banksters has succeeded about as well as central planning on a national scale by commissars, and the Toronto-Dominion Bank doesn't even pretend to invest in the best interest of the proletariat.

For example, government theft bonds are their biggest racket, and the money raised contributes nearly nothing to human happiness. Naturally, they want the racket to continue, and the politicians have their orders to keep it going.

Chief executives from the nation's biggest financial firms met Mr Obama for more than an hour yesterday [Wednesday], some of them plainly frustrated with the tactics at play in Congress and with the potential showdown coming over the debt limit.

"You can relitigate these policy issues in a political forum, but we shouldn't use threats of causing the US to fail on its obligations to repay its debt as a cudgel," Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs, said after the meeting.

"Greyson and Loubani's detention in Egypt shows the Canadian left are hypocritical colonialists at heart"

"After two weeks of a fruit juice diet they dubbed as a "hunger strike," John Greyson and Tarek Loubani have decided to resume eating solid food while remaining detained in a Cairo prison. It must have finally dawned on the pair of narcissistic activists that the Egyptian authorities don't really care if they were to starve themselves to death.

If anything, were Greyson and Loubani to die in prison, it could serve the Egyptians' purposes by providing an example to other activist dilettantes intending to come to their country to interfere in a volatile domestic political crisis. But of course it would never have come to that. Greyson and Loubani are the type to make self-promoting, but not suicidal gestures.

To understand the antipathy Egyptians have towards Greyson, Loubani and foreigners like them, it helps to know a little about Egypt in the months leading up to their arrest. The Muslim Brotherhood is a totalitarian, misogynistic, homophobic, jihadist group that, during its brief time controlling Egypt under the government of Mohammed Morsi, attempted to snatch dictatorial powers for themselves.

The "anti-democratic" coup by the army denounced by western supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and their useful idiot accomplices was in fact a response to enormous demonstrations of millions of Egyptians calling for Morsi's removal. These protests were far larger than even those that instigated the end of Hosni Mubarak's presidency, with almost half of Egypt's voting population calling for new elections."

Gathering sob stories are an essential duty of the US government:

The REAL leader of Iran is not pleased with his PM for speaking to Obama on the phone.

The Ayatollah Ali Khameini (pbuh) leaves no doubt as to who is in charge in Iran, and refers to the politicians as "our dear government".

I still believe this whole Iran/USA thing could be solved if Obama would go to Tehran and kiss the Ayatollah's feet,or some other part of his body.

Thank goodness he doesn't have anything IMPORTANT to worry about:
