Last weekend former footballer Robbie Fowler, now a commentator at BBC, chastised two players for an embarrassing, childish, ineffectual on-pitch confrontation (the scratchy part of it can be seen here) by saying they were acting like "a pair of girls."

...minutes later, having clearly had a word in his ear from PC producers, a red-faced (Fowler) was making an embarrassing climbdown and telling the nation he was "deeply sorry" for apparently offending womankind. It was an ugly and humiliating spectacle.

Gag their jokey phrases, squish their songs, police their minds - no one will kick up a fuss. But we should...Robbie Fowler should have told the BBC to stick its apology, and fans across Britain should be telling the lawmakers and do-gooders who want to curb their chants and silence their un-PC chatter to get stuffed (or maybe something a bit stronger).
What's worse than a couple of girls scrapping on the pitch? a politically correct "news" network trying to tell you that there isn't.
I say let the girls scrap it out, then afterwards they can suck back umbrella drinks together.

A slap to the face - girls do that. A real man would come in with an unexpected uppercut to the jaw with the left followed by a right hook to the side of the head. If the opponent was still standing, a quick front snap to the groin. That's the way guys streetfight and any feminist who wants to dispute it is welcome to kickbox with me for a couple of rounds. Full contact of course. My being a lot older evens up the chances for 20 year old women but I still suspect most of them will "fight like girls".

I've said similar, ever since PC chic became PC tyranny - just ignore the buggers and operate on civil right of expression limited only by civil limits where tangible damages occur. IOW - say what you know or believe to be true and as long as no one suffers or can prove personal damage/harm, you are making fair comment. Fair comment is protected by law and is a civil right that is over 800 yrs old - paid for in blood by better men that those who pretend that being offended constitutes damage to the person.
PC is all about erasing that very important boundary - from speech provably causing damage to an individual to making actionable any comment that may be objectionabe to overly sensitive GROUPS who may suffer hurt feelings and who need prove no more damage than they took offence. Refuse to recognise the so-called right to not be offended by fair comment and refuse to recognise any authority to drag you into pseudo legal proceedings and star chambers where you civil rights and proper legal procedure are not intact - take it to the legitimate courts and counter sue.
Another push-back that needs to gain momentum is a backlash against dialogue monopolists who want to shut down debate by labeling anything or anyone that disagrees with them "racist". Now, this one is easy because calling someone you don't know a racist is a dire offence on the person, racism is a deeply ugly thing that carries public ostracisation. Branding someone a racist is an offense against the person/reputation with provable damage. We have a functional court of common claims that works very well in defamation suits.
High profile non-lefty public figures like Rob Ford could get wealthy just tagging lefty scum for $10K an insult plus expenses. More public figures should be doing this. The stigma of real racism has been diminished so badly by this abuse of the meaning/application of the label, that something needs to be done definitively to restore civility and reason to public discourse.

Wait, so the people complaining about the announcer think that "fighting like a couple of girls" is an insult? That's really demeaning of women.
Women (and by extension, girls) are fierce and empowered and their fighting is clearly the same. The announcer was clearing stating his awe that the two men on the pitch would bring their fight to Amazonian levels of a "couple of girls".
The complainers are clearly beholden to the patriarchy, and the announcer should be praised for his bold statement (in these times) about the power of women.

When I was in grade nine at Linwell High in St. Catharines we had to go by bus. Well, one two girls got into it on the bus. It was so vicious with no holds barred that even the bus driver stopped and watched. Something about a theft of a boy friend.
