It's all fun...till the bill arrives

"I was laughing at Boehner -- until the mail came today," Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.

"I really don't like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family's pocket each year, that's otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy."

What, you thought health-care was 'free'?

In the comments, 'Tom', the guy in the article (maybe...)

People have asked if I would vote for Obama again. Its a good question.

No. It was a good question.

Roost to chicken -> "Welcome home!". I love this stuff.

Must really be crowded under the rock these people live under.

Schadenfreude ..... it smells bad .... but it tastes good.

"It was a good question."

Exactly. They voted for it. Twice.

Kinda like Ontarians who voted for McGuinty and now complain about sky-high power rates and the shambles that was once the Ontario economy.

Obama shouldn't just be impeached. He should be flogged naked through the streets of Washington until he drops and dragged behind a truck until nothing is left for a proper burial.

Demotwats, bureautwats and liberals all the same. Theives liars and luntics.

All of the above.

Like Mark said, they asked for it. Welcome to the world of Karl Marx.

The most common question I get when traveling in the USA is, "you have FREE health care in Canada don't you?"

Once I explain that "free" has to be actually paid for, and that it will one day go bankrupt, they quickly pull back on their support for Obamacare.

One might smile at American naivete until you still run into so many low information Canadians who also believe that health care is "free".

When you take $10,000 out of my family's pocket each year, that's otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy.

That was the idea. This, like all Obama's mad schemes, are designed to funnel as much of the wealth of the United States towards Wall Street as humanly possible, making sure to throw a few scraps to the wastes of air and hospital beds Wall Street need to keep voting their hand-picked politicians into office.

Well, nobody can say he wasn't warned.

Let's see. It is now an offence to charge a woman more than a man for health insurance, never mind that only women have to go to the hospital to deliver babies. If you're a town bicycle who could not have otherwise afforded your sixth abortion, never fear. Some Christian woman's gainfully-employed husband will either have to pay to help you murder your own child by subsidizing your policy, or do without and still have to take the risk of the bank's walking off with the family home if he needs to go to hospital, Obamacare or no Obamacare.

I see the self-styled "artist" jumped for joy at the news that some other poor sap would be subsidizing her health insurance and keeping her out of hell for long enough to vote for Hillary Rodham. The artist's website (at www.marilynngray-raine.com if you must) reveals her to be utterly lacking in talent or taste, and presumably neither she nor her husband could hold down an honest job that would have included insurance benefits. Children, if any, do not appear to be available for comment.

Not quite yet, thank God, Ken.

We're not quite at the point, here or south of the border, where nurses have to be bribed with cigarettes or vodka to bother feeding you or emptying your bedpan---that's before the doctor even looks at you, of course---and drug pushers make a good living bribing staff to look the other way while they walk off with the hospital's supplies of painkillers.

But we'll get there, never fear.

That's what happens when you get politicians to pass legislation without knowing what's in it. It would be a useful exercise to ask those politicians who voted for Obozocare some detailed questions about the content of the legislation they passed - preferably with their answers recorded so they can be shown up for the absolute morons they are.

All very predictable, but such events are inevitable when one is dealing with the brainless cult of personality that Obozo uses to get his way. The one thing in favor of the US dealing with this statist piece of trash is that there is an instinct in the US to attack quickly unlike other countries that haven't been born in revolutions. Thus there's a distinct possibility would could see the return of tarring and feathering of federal politicians in the very near future.

After reading Sowell and Dalrymple just realized that what politicians in both the US and England have done is to create a large dependent class for the sole purpose of winning elections. One has to look at Dalrymple's Life at the Bottom to see that the US black welfare classes are identical to the British welfare classes in mores and behavior. (Sowell blames the devolved black welfare culture for lower IQ rates among US blacks which the similar devolution of the British welfare classes supports).

Interestingly, the situation in both countries is starting to resemble that of a self-anointed upper class exempt from the constraints that apply only to the lower classes and a dependent and impoverished lower class that the upper class rules. It seems that several centuries are all that's needed to result in a return to monarchy which is what is happening in the US. The only way that this process can be stopped is through an elimination of the US political class through a popular revolt; the longer this is delayed the bloodier it will be but it seems that now the tree of liberty is sorely in need of watering.

Oh, and that revenue stream they hope to get from folks who decide they can't afford Obamacare and will just pay the tax?

Forget about that amounting to much of anything. It will probably cost more to administer than they'll take in. With the cost of the policies for healthy middle-agers up to age 65, few people will be able to find even a catastrophic plan that will be less than 8% of their MAGI. Sure, the rich folks can, but the rest of us who are reasonably healthy are likely to just opt out. For our family, it's not $10k, but about double that. And that chunk of cash can certainly pay for a very large piece of routine healthcare, especially if you are good at negotiations with your providers.

The ones I really feel sorry for are the ones with "respectable" incomes, but not much they get to keep and spend. Think of somebody with lots and lots of those deductible expenses that get reported on your Federal Schedule A. Property taxes? Sales Taxes? State Income Taxes? Medical Expenses? Big casualty losses? Gambling losses? Not one single dime of those can be used to reduce your MAGI. You may be living practically hand-to-mouth, but with that supposed "respectable paycheck" you won't qualify for a subsidy... not even close.

He he. The San Jose Mercury News is one of the most pinko, left-wing rags in America, and they have been in the tank for Obama forever. They slobber over Obama like an old dog slobbers over its owner.

Make your bed and now lie in it you dumb pinko fools!

Well Dick, we have been moving in the direction by increments for decades. This is exactly what Hayek warned about in his 1940s book, "The Road to Serfdom". They just have become more blatant lately, and the population has become conditioned...kind of like the frog in the pot being brought to a boil slowly.

Loki, you could add the Laurentian Elites here in Canader.

Nothing will change, for the good or worse, until the LIVs are forced to consider the political state of the nation more than what the next survivor show will be about. Kind of like the women in St. Petersburg in February 1917.

Trouble is, our children and grandchildren will suffer the events.

The numbers on Obamacare sign-ups must be horrible. Here is Commerce Secretary Jack Lew refusing to answer Chris Wallace when he asks (over and over) for a number:

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/treasury-secretary-stonewalls-when-asked-how-many-have-signed-obamacare_759310.html

"'Of course, I want people to have health care,' Vinson said. 'I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally.'"

Priceless.

These are the liberals on display. Obama care is good until their personal finances take a hit. Then it's bad.

Liberals are the original cowards. They love to pretend that they are Robin Hood, but really they are the Sherrif of Nottingham. If they had the capacity to do basic arithmetic they'd realize just how massively they're getting screwed by their own heros, but they don't so they won't.

Obamacare is just the last step on the path to Single Payer medicine anyway. It's designed to fail. Government will have to step in to pick up the pieces, and assume control of the insurance industry. All these imbeciles will applaud the brave men who finally get Free Healthcare for America.

Then their grandma will be denied a hip replacement by the rationing board, and the screaming will begin. Then immediately end when a handy DHS jackboot steps on their neck.

Imbeciles.

Right you are Ken (kulak) and Dick Slater! Good comments Phantom and Loki. Obummercare, like the Canadian version of the same, is designed to control citizens via dictating life styles and making citizens so poor that they cannot afford to go outside the meditrap for medical advice.
Once inside a trap like the one the thugs from Chicago have set up, it is very difficult to afford good help if a person gets sick.
I am also wondering about the concern some brighter souls may have about giving the IRS (the group that monitors all private e-mail and phone calls and then hounds and harasses those they choose to eliminate) personal information right over the web. Sounds very risky to me.
The last nail in the coffin is the Doctor situation; good Doctors will disappear from the country. They will go elsewhere or they will do something else for a living.
"Free" healthcare is pretty silly if there are no competent Doctors.

Nice to have you back.

Why am I guessing that "dictating life styles" won't include discouraging casual unprotected sex in public restrooms?

My favourite comment bit:
The Good News is that the Obama Administration has decided that ObamaCare will be paid for by 'the Rich'.
The Bad News is that the Obama Administration had defined you as 'the Rich'.
