About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Martin who?
Kady is the one with the perpetual Persian kitty look and brains to match.
Kady is the one with the perpetual Persian kitty look and brains to match.
Venn will they learn?
I'd love a live debate with Kady and Kate. Kady'd be demolished.
I'd like to know who she knows, how she got this overpaid gig with the CBC. She's utterly uninspiring.
(And then there's George Strombalphabet. But, that's another story.)
We've got the Senate scandal in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the Ontario Liberal scandals in the billions of dollars.
The media is focused on the former while yawning at the latter.
Relative sizes of circles enhanced for viewing clarity.
The extent of CBCs partisanship never fails to disappoint. One might almost think their pay checks depended on it... Oh wait...
Matt:
Add to that, it is a difference between thousands of dollars from an individual, vs millions of tax payer dollars.
Whenever I hear wonks decrying the lack of public "engagement" in the political system, for some reason I'm always reminded of Bertolt Brecht's poem "Die Lösung" (The Solution):
"After the uprising of the 17th of June
The Secretary of the Writers' Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee
Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government
And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier
In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?"
No doubt Richard Nixon would have drawn a similar diagram in the spring of 1973. And it appears that Mike Duffy is about to become Canada's John Dean.
Exactly right Matt. They're stepping around the elephant to go for mouse, the mouse serves their political agenda. The cost incurred by the elephant is beyond their mathematical abilities and they're assuming beyond the average voter as well.
Remembering Adscam, which pales by comparison to the Ontario scam, Chretien brushed it off with "what's a few million...?" To this day when Chretien speaks the media are onto him like flies around a you name it.
I think Kate enunciates a wonderful philosophy - the less reality attached the media and politics/government become the less relevance they should have in our lives and the less power and credibility we should afford them. It's easy to cut the exploitive MSM out of your life (except CBC which you pay for whether you watch it or not) but with neurotic political causes and public policy being pimped by special interest groups, ridicule and counter point seem to decimate most fallacious policy and popular causes - which is probably why these same interests are waging war against free expression. But ignoring them and refusing to accept their bad ideas is as good a way to defeat them as any. All one needs is a modicum of critical thinking and self respect to disengage these two social evils.
As for governments which get too surreal in policy, contemptuous of the individual and overly intrusive - that takes more commitment. A good start is to cut any government out of your personal business and life, and to engage in a personal course of passive noncompliance with any policy which intrudes on your self determination, independence or which impedes your ability to live your life as you see fit.
If enough people engaged in this personal course of counter culture to the zombie hordes and the degraded media and politics which pander to their servile dependency, we would disempower the zombie state's ability to effect the non-zombie nation. I am encouraged to see glimmers of hope down south where like minded reasoning people are mobilizing an organic movement to isolate themselves from the decay in US zombie media/culture/politics with things like the free state project or State independence movements.
There is hope and we are not alone, a movement begins with personal commitment to not support, bad ideas or any policy directives which are not in your own best interests.
Perfect visual metaphor for a journalists brain.
A giant void. And I used to think their heads were just full of shit.
Probably that foul mouthed Pat. Him and Kady have the same ideology.
I finally found a use for Venn diagrams
"Mike Duffy is about to become Canada's John Dean"
Is this the same Duffy that worked for CBC in the 70's and was fired for involvment in a Man/Boy group in WPG (During developing a CBC Show with Kression). If he is the same guy..his behaviour is undersdtandable and the source of Money none other...
Just saying!
Because ... the purpose of the House of Commons is to entertain and uplift the media twits?
Holy Hairdo batman! Did Kady go ginger!? or was she just a peroxide blond before.
Anyone else think this would make a good t-shirt?
Way to go Kate. How true. These people live in a separate Universe from "REAL" people.
After all we have to work to survive, not steal from others.
The media are lice who exist in the Elites nether regions.
I still think it odd that the media is focused on a Senate/Duffy scandal that involves someone putting money back into the till.
The Liberals stole more than $30 million under ADSCAM and never repaid a penny.
The Conservatives found a senator who was aggressive about his expense account and arranged to pay it back.
Who do you think the public will want when they have a chance to vote again?
It never ceases to amaze me how much people accept as truth simply because it was on the 'news'. Anyone who thinks that the majority cannot be manipulated by repeated untruths in the news are very naïve.
Parliament Hill media, other than their constant attack mode on the Harper government, have one other theme. It's their constant pissing and moaning that the public doesn't pay any attention to what goes on in Ottawa. Part of the media's infatuation with Trudeau stems from their frustration of being ignored. Trudeau is so shiny and electable that every Canadian from now on is going to sit up in their seat and pay attention.
