FYI ... Jan Shakowsky is a Chicago Democrat who has represented for many years a trendy mid-town Chicago neighborhood that's densely populated with annoying, latte-sipping, low information, 30-something hipsters, the males of which sub-species are highly BETA, deeply 'sensitive', and pride themselves for being smarter than most everybody else EXCEPT Obama.

They loooooooooved Obama so much they elected him TWICE! ... and now they're discovering for the first time that THEY are the ones who will have to pay a LOT of money for all that "free" Obamacare.

Reality bites ...and I love it!

If the Obama campaign web site was effed up like the ACA site is, Obama himself would be slipping into his hard hat, tool belt and steel toes and asking Valerie Jerrett how he can get into the internet.

What gets me is the fact that over and over the proponents of barrycare, harp on the "you will pay less because of subsidies". And who, pray tell, will be paying those subsidies, but the TAXPAYERS. Nobody wants to ask that question and so many more. Watching the hearings this morning, was pure partisan politics with the GOP speechifying on "my constituent Bob writes me.....blah blah blah and the Dems merely sucking up and touting what great lawmakers they are for helping the American people. In the meantime, who knows what will happen when you go to see your doctor and he says "Sorry, I don't treat people covered by barrycare". Ooops...

In response to Rick, half of Americans don't pay tax as it is and that's his base, however, if you look at the opportunity costs of spending other peoples money on BarryCare and not on some other socialist scheme, then I guess everyone suffers. Your point is bang on btw.

There was a poll on FOXNews regarding NY State Doctors?:

44% - would not participate in Obamacare
34% - might not participate in Obamacare
22% - will participate in Obamacare

If these numbers are typical across the nation, there's gonna be a lot of angry people.

What beautiful about this situation is that Latte Liberals, who are professionals, FINALLY get to experience the Social Justice they advocate so hard for. When its Social Justice for the middle class, its a social imperative, and MUST be imposed for the little people for 'their own good'; but, when it affects the Latte Liberal's own personal bottom line, or that of their private company; well then, that's just not fair. Well, let me tell you bub; "it's f'n fair!".

Perhaps, just perhaps, Obama care will save America from itself.

If not, then all hope is lost; as the folks can never expect a more blatant example of how America is accelerating towards Utopia and its own demise.

Of course, the real cost of Chalky-care will be felt in 20+ years, when all of a sudden, there are no doctors. Who would take on $$500k in student debt (non-dischargeable in bankruptcy FOREVER) for 7 years in school, when the likelihood is your salary will be determined by a bureaucrat, what level of care you can administer (Hypocritical oath be damned..) will be determined by a bureaucrat, where you can practice will be determined by a bureaucrat, and probably even what patients you'll be allowed to see will be determined by a bureaucrat? (the more clever probably sense a pattern here)

"Not I" will say all the bright little red hens, who will flock to Wall Street, where it's heads (profits) they win, and tails (losses) you and I lose.

WhoSanecare....Hussiencare

the system that keeps on breaking and breaking:-)))

there appears to be an outflux of doctors, in the USA, at the moment

"GET OVER IT"

Funny that's what doctors advice will be when Obummercare is the law of the land and you're sick.

Two things come to mind.

First: there might be a lot of "refugee" doctors that want to come to Canada. Our system is not perfect, yet with the influx of doctors we might finally get things caught up in waiting time. There are hundreds of doctors that actually want to work ... though they might not make as much, at least they can still have the freedom to practice here.

Second: Since the insurance companies are going to loose perhaps billions, will the other countries [Canada] have an increase in their monthly payments? This one concerns me ... after all the insurance industry has to make up for the shortfall some how.

Good points made above...though perhaps the only way to beat out
barry and his crowd is to quit participating in the 'rape & pillage' politics of Washington by refusing to be productive.

Call in permenantly sick or some such action, but hit them in their achilles heel which is to simply shut off the ($$) tap by not allowing them to take any $$ through their usual means of confiscatory extortion.

This of course requires a bit of effort on the part of Joe & Jane citizen producer but nothing more complicated than the concerted effort of refusing to surrender one's constitutional right to bear arms (which still continues to stump the Dems at present.

After all, what can the US government do ?...half the population already sits on its butt drawing gov't pogey .Barry can hardly force one group to produce while his 'taker' core base remain idle.
The banks can hardly foreclose on everybody and the money would quickly dry up . The present system would collapse and the Dems along with it!

Non producers living off the non avails of the motivated cannot stand for long, nor will their crass greediness allow them too..
Anarchy will ensue... but to a far lesser degree than what its going to do anyway in the long run.

It could be looked upon as the 21st century equivalent of dumping tea in the Boston harbour.

My Co-worker, who has 30 years in and is two months away from retiring, just learn her Health Insurance which was provided by her Husband's firm, Frito-Lay, is dropping her. Well, not exactly dropping her, but the Premiums are going from $310 a month to $870. She does not have enuf time to 'get vested' in the State HealthCare Plan, so basically she is screwed and not sure she can retire after all, or at 58 she will have to stay to age 68 to be 'vested' in the State HealthCare Plan. Frito-Lay did this to all their workers spouses, citing ObamaCare's 18 minimum requirements made the Insurance to costly to offer.

Gona be a sheayat-load of pissed off folks come November 2014, and hopefully we can turn this monstrosity around.

and hopefully we can turn this monstrosity around.

Kill it like the Communist cockroach it is, before it infests your lives for good.
Healthcare in Canada just gets worse by the year as people who don't want to be Government employee's opt out of medical schools.

Further to what KevinB said above (and he's 100% bang on) ...in Canada, due to the govt monopoly on medicine and their control / capping of the earnings of doctors, the entire country has a signifcant doctor shortage. Yet oddly enough there are pages and pages of DENTISTS advertising in the Yellow Pages of every city and town; NOOOOO shortage of dentists, where a free market remains!

The male head of household of our neighbours - a bright young Korean-Canadian family - told me that he would have preferred to become a doctor BUT did not want to invest so many years and money into a career where his earnings are capped by bureaucrats! ... so he went to dental school instead, graduated in 2005 and already has a thriving dental practise, and by all visible evidence (i.e. - two recent Benz's in their driveway; two vacation trips per year with the entire family of 5 back to Korea to visit relatives!) he is doing quite well.

Too few doctors but plenty of dentists ... one more unintended consequence of the heavy hand of government.

and hopefully we can turn this monstrosity around.

Step on it like the Socialist termite it is, before it infests your lives for good.

Waiting lists. Third World doctors. Nurse who have no idea of sanitation.
Specialists who are as rare as ghosts. Now one Dr policies where you don't choose even your physician, or get a second opinion. Closed clinics that have to many clients. Death panels. Triage medicine in a none war zone.
Under it all the hushed silence of practising Euthanasia on the homeless & aged.

Just so long as my PA friend Roger's premiums go up, I will be happy with Ocare.
Even by $10 a month - he is such a skinflint that he will feel each dollar like
a cut.

A question: is the US Government in any of its branches or agencies capable of
doing anything well anymore?

Nothing has changed since truly intelligent people were in charge.

Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon.

"GET OVER IT"

Never let a crisis go to waste.
The politicians that complain and cast blame the loudest are the ones who will reap the most benefit from this crisis.
Since ObamaCare was passed along straight partisan lines with zero GOP votes for it, I'm guessing the GOP has a lot to gain by yelling louder, longer, and making Dems like Schawkowsky wear this fiasco.

You broke it, you bought it.

Isn't Schakowsky's husband the guy named Creamer who spent some time in jail and is regarded as one of the architects of ObamaCare?

It's a tight little neighborhood in Chicago Liberal Land.

A major problem with socialized anything is people who retire young. 58? 30 years in? Unless she's in the Infantry, she shouldn't retire at 58 unless she is financially self sufficient (you know, of independent means, not on anybody else's insurance &c). Why is it that people expect to work 30 years then collect their salary for another 30? If you work until you are 58 and collect your "pension" (salary) until you're 88, what the hell did I, a consumer of the goods you made while you were at work, get for my money for the last 30 years? Bupkus, that's what. Meanwhile, you're out in your bass boat enjoying the life of Riley and being supported by ME the consumer buying stuff you DIDN'T MAKE instead of paying the folks who are making it NOW. Pensioned retirement, whether privatized or "government supported", is worse than stealing from the children as it is also predicated on the lie of ever-increasing growth in the economy. It is robbing your co-evals as well, who don't get to "retire" because we don't think it is morally or ethically responsible to steal from our fellow workers so we can f*ck off all day after working for a mere 30 years. Tell your friend to suck it up and get her ass back to work, and this has exactly NOTHING to do with OBlammo-care. I've been working for 35 years and am just about hitting my stride. Why does she get to drop out now, especially at my expense?
