"Speak to me in French! This is Quebec!"

"You don't treat people this way." You do in Quebec if it's an Anglo.

How will it end? I predict that the hospital will issue a statement that they hope will be taken as an apology (it won't be one) and the orderly will continue on being the ASS that he obviously is.

I'm curious whether I could tell a Quebec patient to speak to me in English, this is BC? Of course, I'm sure all hell would break loose. The good thing is I don't see any patients from Quebec; as soon as the patients find out they have to pay $50 in cash to see a doctor because Quebec never pays doctors outside of Quebec, they decide they're not that sick.

What I can't understand is why PMSH puts up with this BS. Quebec is in violation of the concept of a bilingual country and the simplest thing to do would be to stop requiring frog writing on packaging and send all of the snivel servant translators packing to their home province. Laws in Canada could be passed in English only and, if the separatists objected, remind them that the majority of the population is English and if they want to speak their ancient French dialect, they can go to their own country of Quebec.

Right now the primary bilingual positions in BC are English/Cantonese or English/Pujabi. There's a large E. Indian population in the interior who have almost all learned to speak English and are about as redneck as the locals.

Perhaps we should remind les grenouille that ethnic nationalism fell out of style in the 1930's and 1940's after it proved to be a rather intolerant and totalitarian form of government. From a demographic perspective, the indigenous population of Quebec will soon be extinct as they are yet another cultural group that has forgotten how to breed. Time to cut off all transfer payments to this dysfunctional province so that the islamofascists from former French colonies will start looking for richer suckers in the EU.

time to skid their rig

round up the "separatists" and send them to those 2 French islands just off Newfoundland and be done with those fools, they'll be swimming back to NL quacking in English, as the French French have no use for these jackasses!!

"What I can't understand is why PMSH puts up with this BS."

Really?.....Really???

"Perhaps we should remind les grenouille that ethnic nationalism fell out of style in the 1930's and 1940's after it proved to be a rather intolerant and totalitarian form of government."

Ethnic nationalism has never fallen out of style for any French population anywhere.
One of the complaints of the Viet Minh in the 50's was that as a French colony they were treated as foreigners by the French in their own land.

Liberté, égalité, fraternité(the national motto of France) only applies from Frenchmen to Frenchmen.
Chauvinists the lot of 'em.

It's the same anywhere, any time with the French, and the topic of this thread is merely another banal example of that .

Those in Quebec don't seem to mind the dollars that have english & french on them.

I have seen similar attitudes, although not to this extreme of rudeness, in hospitals and doctor's offices in Anglo-Canada and language has nothing to do with it.

'This isn't a hotel.

No, customers stay in hotels and employees who speak to them like that will eventually lose their jobs.

Patients stay in hospitals. As I said for years, everybody is in the charity ward.

The contrast in treatment I have witnessed in American hospitals, by nurses and by staff in general, is very apparent.

Don't worry though. Obamacare is going to fix all that.

Interesting to learn that Hull has a big hospital. For years the Outaouais sponged off
of Ontario for its hospital needs.

Can't even get the cops to serve/address you in English there.

And while you're at it, don't forget to take Toronto with you.

Payback ....

MANOR, Sask. -- Danielle Duperré called 911 last week when she thought the blaze from her neighbour's fire pit was getting out of control, but says she didn't expect to face a tirade about her "petty" French complaint as a result.

I saw that story on CBC. I do believe it's a similar situation to what we're looking at right here. One angry fire chief in Manor Sk. does not speak for all of Saskatchewan. Nor does the idiot in the hospital at Hull represent all of Quebec. It's just sad that the media always concentrates on the down side of human relations.

That is why I would never go to Quebec for any reason. However, I do admire their dedication to their culture stupid and corrupt as is and their willingness to defend it. We could learn something from them. We have tossed the ROC into the black pit of multiculturalism while providing the money to Quebec that they use to tell everyone else piss off. Cool eh? Ya gotta admire the balls.

If these useless drones didn't cost us billions of dollars a year I really wouldn't give a damn. Probably worse than Indian affairs. Between these two money sucking black holes they waste more money than they were ever worth. The one lesson we can take away from all this is only unconditional surrender is a victory. In all the wars France ever fought this is the only one they that still punishes the winners for taking pity on them.

To the reluctant province, perpetually on the take from the rest of Canada in spite of being resource rich: Begone, out,out damned spot and godspeed.

This is not the same as Manor.

The madam was not wanting to take responsibility for making a frivolous 911 call. Had this been a legitimate 911 call, the fire chief would have put out the fire. End of story.

The veteran was in the hospital with good reason.

Perhaps the fire chief should have said it's people from Quebec (not French per se) that abuse the system and don't pay their way.

Yeah well, we gotta adopt the tactic of the anti-semites....who declare they are anti-Zionists....

We gotta be specific to be anti-Quebec not anti-French....

Next time, just call the lawyers. Frenchie will instantly reorient his attitude to obsequious helpfulness, or he will vanish like turkey at Christmas. Poof, gone!

It will be like a miracle occurred. Because: hospital.

As an Anglo-saxophone I never once had a language issue traveling through Quebec's major cities or the eastern townships a number of times.

Northern New Brunswick is a very different story. Their french is a mongrel language, but they won't engage you if addressed in English.
