Vietnam vets have reportedly, crossed the Rubicon.

They...broke the 10 p.m. curfew time.

Soldiers.
In the streets.
In America.

The Occupy crowd can camp out for months, but war veterans have a curfew?

Those police officers and their families must be sooo darn proud of the work they are doing, keeping the world safe from evil and all. Such selfless people need to be pointed out and given their due publicly.

Oathkeepers

You realize these guys are leftists, don't you? And they're not emulating the WW2 vets at the Mall but are more like Code Pink as their web site includes a plea to end the war with Iran and shilling for visitors to sign the Free Bradley Manning petition. (Although at least they haven't changed it to "Chelsea"... yet.)

Good point. As Mark Steyn said, they'll arrest the law-abiding. It's much easier.

I don't think it matters what their "cause" is in this case. Whom better to ask for peaceful interventions then the bodies the US threw out to further their own interests? A veteran is a veteran.

Bradley/chelsea is a controversial figure. It is kinda sad that he/she will have their historical efforts at "whistle-blowing" boiled down to a joke and easily dismissed as a crackpot. Gender confusion aside, it does not negate the act he/she is responsible for. Hero or villain? Depends on what side of government adulation you side on I guess.

I myself have not made a firm determination and I am usually a very decisive person.

The 'Stolen Valor' project proved that almost all 'Vietnam vets' at anti-war protests during the Bush presidency were not vets at all but imposters. I'll wait for confirmation that these are real veterans and not just peaceniks of the right age wearing military surplus clothes before I react to this.

Yes, I just noticed that. In fact according to the jargon on their website they are quite far to the left. Funny how some people volunteer for the military and then do not like where it goes. Kind of makes you wonder what their original motives were. In this case, obstructing Obama's thugs is a good thing.

However, how about the Oath Keepers organization?

http://oathkeepers.org/oath/

They claim to be non-partisan, but their site would suggest they are certainly not Marxist/Socialist in nature.

Veterans For Peace? I doubt any of them are veterans. Leftists like to claim they are this or that in order to undermine the opposition's stance. John Kerry claimed to be a boat crewman in Vietnam and Justin Trudeau claims to be a gun owner. They are all liars and will do anything to further their own agenda no matter how low and dishonourable.

Yep, commies. Eff 'em.

This has nothing to do with legitimate veterans being harassed for visiting war memorials in DC. Zero, zilch, nada. Not even Federal cops; NYPD.

Their politics and their cause are irrelevant. Those monuments should remain open to citizens - all citizens - and not subject to the whims and power plays of politicians. If your decision about rights are based on ageeing with their politics then you're exactly like the politicians you're complaining about. Like I've said before, it's almost impossible for partisans to recognize their hypocrisy.

All civil disobedience should be applauded when the government acts like overlords instead of employees.

Would have been very easy to determine who these guys are.

These are the first few words of the article ...

Police reportedly arrested several anti-war veterans

Much easier to jump to conclusions than to check out the facts, I guess.

Hey, people. You're being tested and some of you early posters have failed miserably. How are you going to react against issues that really matter when you won't even take the effort to make a simple fact-check?

These asshats have a history of occupying this memorial in NYC and monopolizing it for their own agenda. They did the same damn thing last year.

Not all civil disobedience is created equal.

Now it makes a lot of sense.

People visiting America on buses are treated to some 'power plays' by the forest rangers: this is not America, this is Austria after the Nazis pulled a 'coup d'etat' in 1938. Everything changed overnight in Austria, is this an 'Obahamama & wanna be Czar's' inside job? Shocking and surreal:

Odd, I Naively thought a principle was a principle, a right was a right, government over reach and shenanigans were government over reach and shenanigans.
Now I know outrage and concern are reserved for some and it only depends on who you are and what you believe in.

Who knew?

Long live Linda Gibbons.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that glaring contradiction. Apparently the reasoning goes something like this:
Their side is completely wrong for doing X. When my side also advocates for X we are not wrong because ????

I guess intellectual consistency is as difficult as math.

It's a conundrum alright.

On the one hand ... jackbooted and arbitrary enforcement of the law.

On the other .... they arbitrarily hassle a bunch of people I detest.

Don't pick sides ...pray for an asteroid.

So let me get this straight. A group of hoboes comes to your town, and gets a permit to camp in the park. They leave trash and feces all over the place, and break up the picnic tables, and burn them in the firepits, and now YOU are the a**hole for failing to give the same group a permit this year?

Gotcha.

...and progressives can rattle off their own reasons justifying why it's OK to deny rights to your side. Tea partiers are crazy racists. So-cons are women-hating gun nuts. Libertarians are pot-smoking, anti-government radicals. Like I said, partisans will never recognize their hypocrisy. It's a self-imposed, group-reinforced blind spot.

No, you are quite wrong. These people have had a history of bad behavior. They weren't denied a permit because of their ideology; shee-it, this is uber-liberal New York City we're talking about, a city poised to elect a Communist mayor. They were denied a permit because some of their previous demonstrations involved property damage and intimidation.
