Today's urban welfare recipient lives in a concrete jungle and the only place to get comestibles is the Store. They live in high rise buildings where the only way up or down for the weak is electrically powered elevators. They exist in concrete boxes where the only lifeline is the Obamaphone. In some ways urban welfare America is less resilient than the rural Third World. Adams says there are 50 million holders of EBT cards. Imagine their predicament if the EBT system went suddenly dark.

The final thing that's going on here is that the Barry regime has pretty much declared war on the US military. The main, high level targets of the Shutdown Circus were WWII vets and war memorials. I think the regime could find itself faced with widespread lack of cooperation from the armed forces. That's why Barry armed and armored the DHS, those clowns aren't military and have no proud traditions to stiffen their spines when it comes to illegal orders.

A book by John Ringo, The Last Centurion explores this as part of the storyline. It was published before Obama the first was selected as the Democrat nominee, so the President in the story is a thinly disguised Clinton. The combination of a worldwide flu with 20%-80% mortality with a couple of very bad growing seasons sets the stage. The main story is the company that was left behind to guard a forwards operations base in the sandbox receives orders to find their way home, so they try to. The Phantom's description above fits in well with Ringo's theme, that where the grasshoppers (nee locusts) dominate, the ants will perish. Ultimately, the grasshoppers will too unless they can find more ants to be parasitic upon.
One warning about the book, the lead character is a long-term solder so he's not the most polite or soft-spoken gentleman.

It might be best to deal with the parasites now before there are too many of them. Fortunately, the parasites are concentrated in the large cities in the US who tend to vote for Obozo as well as being "gun free" so an uprising by the welfare classes would probably result in the surviving gun banners having a major change of opinion about the benefits of an armed population.
In the SE and central US, the population is heavily armed and would organize into local militias to efficiently eliminate any looting parasites. Given the numbers, anyone who choses to live in a large city in the N of the US is simply insane. One of the scenarios I used to wargame was the potential results of a large earthquake in Vancouver. When I first moved there, I looked where the safest place to be was and it turned out to be the W. End of Vancouver which sits on one huge piece of granite. The last place one would want to be is Richmond which will simply turn into quicksand taking everything on the surface down. Despite having an apartment in a cement building well stocked with food and ammunition, I decided that it was not a place I would want to spend weeks cooped up in after a SHTF scenario. Thus, I moved to the interior where there's far more interaction with ones neighbors than in the anonymous large city.
Now I have the capability to grow a lot of my own food if I need it, have far more food storage space and, best yet, well armed neighbors. Small town and rural America will survive the revolt of the welfare classes as well as the large cities in the SE of the US. What does go up in flames will be no great loss and one scene I'd love to see is mobs of parasites looting the white house and stringing up Obozo when he'd be unable to provide the mob with enough free stuff.

Phantom, I disagree that the mobs of the entitled would keep out of Canada. Once they've looted the northern cities and there's nothing left, most likely they'll head north to Canada as there one is dealing with an almost totally disarmed population in the large cities and lots of stuff to grab. Wherever they'd attempt to go into the US countryside, they'd run into well armed citizen militias and so I suspect they'll all head north. The curious thing I noticed in the US is that even trailer trash seem to have the newest in vehicles and it's a curious juxtaposition to see a brand new Escalade parked outside of a run down trailer. As long as they can steal enough gas to get them over the border, they'll head this way. Another reason I've very glad to be living in a small town with an armed population.

Over a short period of time we will be in the same situation as the south, without the army & police support (not that US military and police support would be there for everyday Joe citizen).
