This Is Not Your Grandma's Humane Society

In this hypothetical place, you cannot easily own an intact animal. In order to qualify, you must show your dog in competition, belong to a breed club with an enforced code of ethics, and pay a hefty fee. Breeding is out of the question because government requires you to qualify for an expensive breeding permit before you can ever consider the possibility. Any pet that is "adopted" through a shelter or rescue MUST be sterilized BY LAW. There are limits on how many pets you can own. All the while, you hear grumblings on the street that there aren't enough homes to absorb the strays. Well, that last part about not enough homes for the strays is a lie, but you have heard so many lies told so often, that you now just accept those lies at face value and believe them as truth.

Now imagine that you don't care too much about any of that, because you don't have any plans to be a dog breeder. You are happy to own an occasional pet or two. None of those problems affect you, right?

Let's see about that.

Believe it or not, our hypothetical state actually exists. It's called CALIFORNIA.

I can believe it exists in Californicated. After all,the average dog or cat there has an IQ a least a magnitude bigger than the average leftard in Cali. Can't have the pets showing more common sense then the socialists! And no,this is NOT sarc. Cripes. In another 5 years, even the Mexicans aren't going to want it.
Faster,please.

I breed dogs for food and only for the nourishment of Homo Sapiens, (not Homo's) Why pet your illegal puppy when you can sit down to a tender meal of succulent puppy! visit now,

What the heck was that Good Doggy @ 3:41PM??? Am I missing something? Like a /sarc?

They wanted to sell me a "cat license"...

Oh, how I laughed. Call me "scofflaw".

This law will not interfere with the rich, only with us peasants.

An added benefit, from the Californian point of view, is that it makes raising cattle somewhat more
difficult.

Don't ever forget that the Political Elites Saudi masters don't like dogs. When Islam sharia law takes over. One less problem.

I might argue that California has more idiots per square inch (ISI) than any other place on the planet..
Absolutely nothing they come up with surprises me anymore..

It all boils down to compliance.. Bylaw after bylaw in the hands of overpaid government workers.. They have to make the choice between enforcement and pay raises. They choose they pay raise every time..

Remember they have to hunt you down.. Charge you and keep track of all the legal requirements while they pad the State deficit.. They are working within a money losing enterprise where the more people they charge the less likely their next raise is going to happen..

So they depend on voluntary compliance or the good neighbour rat system.. Often its a 300 dollar fine that will balloon to 3000 if you don't kiss the ring.. So pay up if your unlucky enough to get caught.. DO NOT raise a stink or even make eye contact.. Apologize and slip back under the radar.. Do not give the government worker any reason to look at you again.. Remember they are greedy, lazy and incompetent.. Bucking a system that cant afford enforcement simply gets a footnote in YOUR file.. The mark of a true idiot..

Think of idiot bylaws as the unlucky lottery..

Well, do you know what? If our masters had figured out a way to give dogs and cats the vote, they wouldn't be going on about how there's not enough good homes for all of them. The feral farm animals who thrust Barack Obama into office are encouraged to breed like rabbits---and God knows there's not enough good homes for all of the next generation of Trayvon Martins.

I like the fact that shelters only adopt out neutered pets. There are too many thoughtless people that let their dogs produce puppies that they dump off at shelters or worse. The shelter kill rate for pitt bulls is obscene and the dummies keep cranking them out seeking some obscure perfection in colour or conformation although they probably can't spell the word. You aren't talking pitt bulls here but shelters have lots of pure bred dogs whose owners bought them and then didn't have the jam to house break or tolerate a few pairs of chewed up shoes. If there are enough homes for all the strays, why are they still being euthanized in such sickening numbers?

pit bulls only has one t, obviously I can't spell either but I sure get wound up over this issue. I saw an SPCA van dropping of a suspiciously heavy industrial size garbage bag at the local land fill last year. That is apparently where they go in our town. The last resting place for creatures that deserve much much better.

"...I might argue that California has more idiots per square inch (ISI) than any other place on the planet.."

Oh come on now.

They might be pretty stupid alright, but the didn't elect Dildo McDinky THREE times.

NOW they're starting to bitch that some of them have had their toes stepped on by the Government....I imagine they were the cheerleaders as gun regulations and restrictive zoning by-laws were force feed the "other" people, but now the shoe is on the other foot. How does it feel?.........And the worst picture I've seen lately is a group of about seven 45 gallon drums behind a hi-kill big city pound full of cats. No,not live ones either.......So while the big argument here is dogs,I imagine they get the same. So spay your pets or support local catch-n-release efforts for ferals.

I don't know what this has to do with the Terrorists in The Humane Society. Those bastards harassed rescue dog workers at Ground Zero. AFAIC, we can hang every one of them.

This is basically PETA's War On Domestic Animals. They want domestic animals extincted. Kalifornians voted for this crap, let them enjoy it. If I were still breeding dogs (Seiger quality GSDs) I would not sell to customers from Kalifornia.

support local catch-n-release efforts for ferals.

Catch and release for vermin? Catch and destroy. It is cheaper and more environmentally friendly. I wouldn't mind catch and destroy for their owners, too.

If there were an pet overpopulation problem. shelters wouldn't be importing dogs from other countries to sell. That's right - sell.

I live in the corn belt where a lot of folks get by, comfortably and voluntarily I'll add, just north of sustenance levels. Unemployment is very low and wages are as well. As a result, this is an inexpensive place to live, and I like it. On the other hand, after suffering for many years without a dog, I finally went down to the county pound and picked up a beautiful stray mix. There was another guy who planned to adopt but needed to get his truck fixed first. Priorities. So, I got the poor guy's dog. The deal is, it cost $145 bucks to adopt a dog in SW Iowa. Being a corporate drone, I can afford the charge. Other folks around here, $145 bucks could go for a lot of other things. I'm just saying, sometimes stupid transcends state borders. The dog I adopted had been in the pound for three months. I wonder why.
