"You say the president has threatened to veto the bill?" Rogers asked.
"No. He hasn't threatened. He said he absolutely will veto," McGovern responded.
"He's drawn a red line, has he?"
"Yep," McGovern answered.
And the room burst into laughter.

Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

I might have laughed too, at Mr. McGovern for taking this charade seriously. Obama, their worst enemy? Heavens, the buffoon is Wall Street's best friend! This is all theatre to maintain the illusion of democracy in the United States. The Republicans in the US Congress, rest assured, never had any plans to default on the debt and tell Wall Street where they could stick their theft bonds.
Do not forget that all standing armies and police forces are financed with bank credit, and those of the United States are no exception. If the Tea Party Republicans had genuinely planned to stab Wall Street in the back, all Wall Street would have had to do is give the order and the Tea Party Republicans would have been interned with little hope of getting even the illusion of a trial, just like the leaders of the Golden Dawn in Greece---on the small chance the Tea Party would have ever got near DC in the first place. Heaven knows fair elections are never suffered to take place if there's any chance the result will go against the wishes of our masters.
Yes, that was funny. Too bad it is so sad.
There seems to be more Democracy in the Soviet Union under Putin than in the USA under Obama. Furthermore Putin is respected for doing whats best for the country rather than pandering to every nut group trying to destroy what's left of the American economy. Never thought I would like a Soviet dictator, but their dictator is much better than our dictator. The good thing is they will never meet in conflict because they both have the same goal in destroying democracy. Eventually they will run into the same wall, but I would put money on Obama to reach that wall first. I bet Putin could run a Hot dog stand with competency, unlike Obama.
Despite all the efforts of all King's Horses and all the King's Men, the whole world knows that the prez is a laughable dickhead.
Trouble is, dickheads, in a desperate attempt to erase the image of dickheadery, usually end up doing something really stupid - sometimes really dangerous.
What's actually funny is that you think Obama lost on Syria. Not sure if you know this, but the goal was not to bomb Syria, but to pressure them to get rid of their chemical weapons. It looks like this has happened.
As for government shut down... yeah, go ahead GOP. See how that goes for you. By all accounts it looks like the blame will fall mostly on the Republicans. They'll be slaughtered come next election.
Don't know what medication your'e on but it's sure playing with your mind.
When you become a punch line for fellow politicians.
Your headed for Hicksville. Just ask Wiener
On syria, it can only looks that Obama and the US where out maneuvered by Russia, they looked amateurish and confused the whole way. To see it any other way is 100% due topartisan coloured glasses.
On a shut down, most Americans don't really give a shit. Despite how large the government has become, most don't care, it doesn't impact their daily lives as much as cnbc would have your believe. The sun will still come up even if the the IRS isn't running.
The executive branch has had the entire time between the last 'debt ceiling' crisis and now to address the matter. Congress put a debt ceiling in place by law, to force the executive to deal with ballooning debts, neither of the last 2 executives have dealt with it, and the buck stops with the guy in the oval office. Congress has said their isn't cash to do what the executive wants, congress controls the purse, if democrats don't like it they should have won more seats in the house...
Actually the goal was make it look like the U.S.A. under President Obama was something to be taken seriously. That was not achieved.
Yes. Democrats should have won more seats. After this batch of childish antics, they probably will.
And yes, Russia did a good job protecting their interests in keeping the Syrian civil war a-goin', what with their tidy weapons trade. But ultimately, it was Obama's posturing along with Russia's cajoling that brought the deal about. We can only imaging what kind of blundering would have happened if a Republican had been in office.
I guess we'll see. For now... here's something we can all enjoy:

Toilet, ahahahahahahahahahahaha, there you feel better now that yer rite up there with Obumbles, the laffing stock O the day
and as to the "intent" of the Syria exercise. I doubt that the intent was for it to snowball all the way over to Iran, which it has. PPL like you have NO street smarts and can't see the forest for the trees:-))) The new Iranian president had time for every one except Obumbles, and he was on Obumbles' home turf
"...It looks like this has happened...."
Not if you take a close look...
Ultimately it was Obama's posturing that set him up to be made a fool of by President Putin and get Assad a promise that the U.S. will leave him alone. Imagining a Republican's blundering must be a great comfort to you, but the Republican's could never such an empty shirt as Obama elected.
