An offer for the outraged

During the Spanish Civil War, the Western Powers declined to get involved. They were war-weary, were dealing with the depression, joblessness and a restless population. They correctly felt that dealing with another countries business took a back seat to domestic issues.
Sounds like a certain present day conflict, doesn’t it?
Back then, volunteers, mobilized by the Communist party in Canada, went to fight for the Republican (communist, socialist, anarchist) side against the Nationalists (military, monarchist, fascist).
This lead to the creation of the Foreign Enlistment Act in Canada, making it illegal to go and take up arms in a foreign army or to facillitate those intending to do so.
Now, I’m not suggesting anything, but for those like Warren Kinsella1 who advocate sending our troops over to fight in a civil war, you can get a Visa for entry into Turkey online, it’s good for 90 days.
Warren could send his just entered college daughter to go play, instead of just asking the rest of us and his neighbours to send their children.

  1. Warren seems confused. 100,000 dead wasn’t sufficient, but suddenly an additional 1500 dead and failing to do anything about it means we’re all suddenly “less human”. Perhaps Warren could explain how a human child killed by a bullet is somehow less vile than a human child killed by sarin gas.
Warren also has no clue as to whether taking action will improve or worsen the condition of those still alive in Syria. It’s like a doctor recommending a patient taking a pill without the slightest idea of its effects, or like conducting surgery without the slightest knowledge of human anatomy.
No wonder he’s not been running any Liberal campaigns for a while. Even the dullest could see that Warren flies blind.

  2. Finding hypocrisy within the views of leftists is becoming easier by the day. It is a fun sport.
I feel sorry for any child who has to have such a total loser of a father as Kinsella. An aggressive loud mouth, with absolutely no class and zero moral fiber.

  3. I think it’s high time this law was repealed. I believe every communist that wants to go fight in Syria or anywhere else, should be sent off with our blessings.
Btw, did Little Omar then violate the law by going to Afghanistan and killing an American soldier,or was he exempt because he’s just so darned cute?

  4. Finding hypocrisy within the views of leftists is becoming easier by the day. .”
Easier than finding a swastika in a washroom,or an outrage anywhere.

  5. FEA is immoral and the government should only prevent Canadians from fighting for groups that are a threat to Canada or allies.

  6. Wonder if Warren agreed with the leader of his LPC when he said Khadr would be treated like any other Canadian? Of course Trudeau didn’t elaborate, because he really couldn’t, he was reduced to baffle gab.
Khadr is not just any Canadian, he has been charged with committing what used to be called treason, his entire family were close friends of Osama bin Laden and his mother admitted she would be proud to have her sons martyr themselves for their cause which we all know is not what constitutes just “any” Canadian.

  7. How will Obam know when his missiles hit the canisters? Gas clouds are released ?? Hundreds of thousands additional deaths? MB celebrates?

  8. “FEA is immoral and the government should only prevent Canadians from fighting for groups that are a threat to Canada or allies.”
    LASsie….you didn’t read the law,did you.

  9. Kinsella has gone from a useless twat to a feckless moron.
But then he is a Liberal, thinks Jean Cruton was a good prime minister and the stench of Adscam still wafts out of very pore in his hypocritical progressive body.
Especially the big holes . . . The one between his ears and the one under his nose.

  10. Exactly.
No doubt Warren applauded when Bush et al went after Saddam when he gassed the Kurds in northern Iraq.

  11. If this guy and his friends are so committed to “Saving the People of Syria” a little thing like abandoning Canadian citizenship shouldn’t be a problem. Declare yourself a citizen of the world, pick up a rifle and get to saving.

  12. Phil wants to honor the 24 Canadians murdered on 9-11 in the appropriate progressive way, by aiding Al-Qaeda in Syria.
You make me sick Phil even though I know you are merely ignorant. Kinsella though is a massive proghole.

  13. FEA is immoral and the government should only prevent Canadians from fighting for groups that are a threat to Canada or allies.

Really, LAS? Ok. Watch the video at the link below, if you have the stomach, and then tell me that rebel groups in Syria are not a threat to the entire world, nevermind just Canada and allies.

  14. Little Omar fought against an ally of Canada; and is therefore guilty of treason. He should be prosecuted for that.
Many “Canadians” fought in the Middle East and in Kosovo and got away with it.
Treason is real; our over-soft governments have not in recent years been prepared to go after it. Such a quaint old-fashioned offense.

  15. Now here’s the interesting part:
    12. Where any ship, goods or merchandise captured as prize of war within Canada in violation of Canadian neutrality, or captured by any ship that may have been built, equipped, commissioned or dispatched, or the force of which may have been augmented, contrary to this Act, is brought within Canada by the captor, by any agent of the captor or by any person having come into possession thereof with a knowledge that the ship, goods or merchandise was prize of war so captured, it shall be lawful for the original owner of that prize or his agent, or for any person authorized by the government of the foreign state to which the owner belongs, or in which the captured ship may have been duly registered, to make application to the Federal Court for seizure and detention of the prize, and the Court shall, on due proof of the facts, order the prize to be restored.
So which mosqueterias were involved in recruiting those dumbasses that went to Libya, Syria?

  16. Your video proves nothing except that AQ operates in Syria. Most Syrian rebels are not AQ. And that doesn’t counter my statement regarding FEA at all. Learn to think before you type.

  17. If they want right wing support then they should double down on their own credibility..
Send in a woman army.. I’m thinking 10 000 fat lesibians types armed with sub machine guns and rocket launchers.. Unleash our intolerant women on these intolerant men.. They don’t even need to shoot, just hide behind stuff and scream Patriarchy! Patriarchy!
Its to bad the Syrians dont speak english to be able to understand this human wave of political correctness.. Just a bunch of unattractive white women screeching some devil gibberish at them, “Patriarchy”..
I bet they would run all the way back to Iran..
Then and only then would Obama be historic in my books.. A true master of international politics..

  18. read the actual act. it answers your comment. engage brain before mouth is a trait you should learn!!

  19. Most foreign volunteers end up under the control of al quaeda. So any of the jihadis from Toronto who go to Syria will end up in the ranks of the AQ. These are the same people who are executing civilians and captured Syrian soldiers. So the FEA prohibits Canadian citizens from joining these groups and becoming the darlings of Obama and fighting in the Syrian civil war.
So, by your logic we should allow muslim volunteers from Canada to go to Syria and aid in the massacres of civilians (especially christians) and become hardened terrorists? Great idea. Now, when they eventually leave Syria do you want them coming back to Canada? Somehow, I dont think they will make good neighbors or very loyal Canadians. But then again, I don’t think those on the left really care. Its all part of the multicultural experience to have dangerous, rabid muslims cutting off heads in your country.

  20. Interesting Catmeat’s unambiguous declarations/accusations of Assad being the perp behind the alleged gas attack…..after mentioning the UN has yet to lay blame…..double-speak….
I doubt anyone here has any idea whodunit….based on direct knowledge….heresay and BS is inadmissible…….

  21. No I’m not reading the act. How about you cite the part that apparently contradicts me?
Most foreign volunteers end up under the control of al quaeda.
If they join AQ then they should be charged. Until then, they have every right to go to Syria.
Now, when they eventually leave Syria do you want them coming back to Canada? Somehow, I dont think they will make good neighbors or very loyal Canadians.
Somehow, I don’t care about BS hypotheticals. Why wouldn’t fighting in Syria make them ‘loyal Canadians’? All I care about is if they are well-behaved here and if they get it out of their system over there then they should be fine. Besides, they’ll probably die in Syria.

  22. Phil said, “chickenhawk Lance”
I did my four years, Phil. I contributed to the defence of this country. I had skin in the game. That’s why my commentary carries and yours is just blather in the wind.
    Cheers,
    lance

  23. Why wouldn’t fighting in Syria make them ‘loyal Canadians’? All I care about is if they are well-behaved here and if they get it out of their system over there then they should be fine. Besides, they’ll probably die in Syria.
C’mon LAS,you can do better. That is even more illogical than usual.

  24. Hey, no one disagrees more with Warren Kinsella’s view on most things than do I…however, I think it is a little uncalled for to include his children in this debate.
If you read Warren’s website (and I do..even though he’s barred me from it numerous times) you can see that being a Lefty does not preclude one from being a good dad. By all accounts, Warren’s a deluded Lib in most things….but you cannot question his parenting skills. I think that kind of comment was a cheap shot.

  25. Wallyj >
LAS just mouths off things like “the Syrian civil war is a godsend”, but you’ll never see the queer little troll manning up, flying to Syria, and taking up arms with his brethren.
He just likes to watch them all die on TV with the chemical and other weapons looted from Gaddafi’s armouries, which he still supports, and then brags about his support for Obamba, John McCain, and Al Qaeda as they murder people across the region.
LAS is nothing more than Al Qaeda’s cheerleading squad, all pom pom’s and panties.

  26. So lifelong Lieberal Warren Kinsella is on the Sun News advising Canada to stick its nose in a civil war in which one side is an evil civilian slaughtering dictatorship and the other side is evil genocidal liver eating fanatics allied with Al Qaeda.
How stupid does he think conservative Canadians are?

  27. Complete BS. If you feel that way, send your kids there to play and sing kumbaya. He would willing send everybody elses kids, but not his own.And THAT is a fact. You and LASsie should try some research.

  28. It may very well be that Warren wouldn’t want to send his kids to Syria, or any other hotspot in the world today. The fact is, his kids didn’t join the military so it isn’t really an option to send them. Just as the facts are, that many Canadians HAVE signed up to do fighting if required.
If Warren had kids in the Candian forces, and said we SHOULDN”T SEND anyone there…..you may have a point, but the gist of my comment is that by all appearances, Warren Kinsella seems to be a pretty good dad.

  29. “..I think that kind of comment was a cheap shot…”
Then Kinsella will certainly have no problem understanding it.

  30. Give it up,leftard.Catmeat a good father? So why does he have a band, conviently left out of wiki, called F%$k something.Yeah.Great role model.
More proof from Jof H that leftardism is a mental disease. And BTW,oxygen stealer,I did 22 years saving your types sorry asses.Your kiddies join,or take gender basket weaving courses instead? And just what part of the gubermint do you work for,or subsidizes your sorry ass job where you do work?

  31. I’ve no doubt that Kinsella is a good dad. Wasn’t the point.
The point was if he wants to punish Syria that there are options beyond sending in the troops that he has no attachment to.

  32. “It may very well be that Warren wouldn’t want to send his kids to Syria, or any other hotspot in the world today. The fact is, his kids didn’t join the military so it isn’t really an option to send them. Just as the facts are, that many Canadians HAVE signed up to do fighting if required.”
Well, first, we should not even be focussing on whether Kinsella would or wouldn’t want to send his kids since we can assume NOTHING one way or the other on Kinsella’s view from that Sun article.
Still, quite apart from Kinsella, and in a more general sense, the philosophical issue is this: anyone who would not be prepared to see members of their own family in the fight is a hypocrite if they support committing Canadian troops anywhere. We should never assume that our interventions overseas will always be of such a limited nature that we’ll always be able to support them with a small volunteer military.

  33. Good dad, bad dad who cares?
By all accounts most of the prominent Nazi’s were model dad’s, at least until the end.
The question is, would he sell out your kids to die in someone elses war before his own? I think we know the answer already.

  34. Calling me a left-tard would be surprising to the lefties who’ve felt my wrath. you may note…I’ve been barred from Kinsella’s site many times because I take them apart and feed them their own arguments. I’m a strong Conservative, but that doesn’t mean I stoop to the level of the Left and include their children in the debate.
As for your 22 years of service…good for you. Re-join for another 5, and you will almost catch up to me.

  35. For the record:
I don’t give a damn about Syria, and the more Assad and his thugs fight and kill Muslim fanatics..the better.
As for the USA’s motives. They don’t really give a damn about dead civilians either…the goal is to strengthen the rebels (read: Islamic Fanatics) to the point where the rebels will drag Iran, Syria, and China into the fighting. Keep them busy killing each other….and drive a thorn into the side of Iran.
Problem is of course, Islamic fanatics hate the west more than they hate the Persians, Russians, or chineses, and whatever weapons we provide to them…will be used against us. I say leave them all the hell alone, and let them fight it out.

  36. Agree completely and if it wasn’t for one egotistical Nobel peace prize winner who couldn’t run a hot dog stand without screwing it up that’s exactly what would happen. The good thing is the general public seems to feel the same way and the vast majority are against intervention. What’s a narcissist to do when he’s been slapped down and can’t even blame Bush ? The pity. I disagree with some that this makes the USA look weak. It does make Obama look like the incompetent fool that he is. Painted himself into a corner and no teleprompter to rescue him. Putin threw him a life line and it will be interesting to see if he’s smart enough to grab it.
