About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

I'm guessing the photo was shot in Kamloops, then?
I wasn't aware that the Roughrider loss to Calgary on Friday night cost the people of Saskatchewan their province. I knew there was a strong rivalry but wow!!!!11.
mid island mike
Poor Dan Quayle can't catch a break.
1. "Saskatchewan, come out, come out, where ever you are."
2. Heck, with lightening like that all around your borders, you'd go into hiding, too.
3. Saskatchewan, after more than 100 years of relationship abuse, has given up on Ottawa.
Decided, she can make it on her own (and live on oil, gas, potash and agriculture revenue).
She's keeping her guns, too. Just in case Ottawa becomes unreasonable.
Like anyone has ever heard of that.
considering they used 'Ye' in the article headline which is a historical gross misspelling of Þe (the) I don't give anything else in the article to much credit especially on the Alberta/Manitoba border.
Straightforward incompetence aside, this week I stopped clicking on National Post links under any circumstances. The Real Women takedown and geopolitical homo cheerleading was the last straw. Enough with their spineless faux-conservativeness and blog story stealing already. Burn baby burn.
Geography is hard too!
Apparently.
Hey World, look up Delisle Saskatchewan on Google Maps!
Today, within that Towm Limit and in the possession of a remarkable Delisle resident, exists the ONLY KNOWN Photograph of James and Johannah Donnelly, the Irish Catholic settlers murdered in Bidduph Township, February 1880, near Lucan Ontario, by a local vigilante mob.
An Historic factual Canadian story, and now Delisle Saskatchewan has entered the narrative by virtue of the Donnelly photograph and the "miracle' of internet and BLOGS!
Did anyone read the article? I tried to and gave up after 3 paragraphs as I was getting a headache. If this is what the dead tree media is offering then it's no wonder they are dropping like flies.
Does Alberta have a border with Manitoba?
Not. In. My. Universe.
Shucks, Dianne Sawyer labeled Kansas as Oklahoma on her evening news cast last week. That is a lot more stupid mistake than labeling Sask as Man/Alb. Geez, that is a thick border. Maybe that is also where our 51st through 57th states are hiding. This all just goes to show what the east and left coasts think of us.
Layers and layers of fact checkers and professional journolists.
The West in Canada & the US are just the filler in the cream puff between the East Coast & West, to the World of North American Journalism.Flyover Country. Why learn the Grography of the . "land of the Conservatives".
calling this a story is like calling a puddle of puke food
I think the author of the article simply forgot to remind us of the wormhole between Manitoba and Alberta brought about by global warming. I think they call that wormhole lightning, no?
"and even though the salted hot springs welled about his body,"
The 'middle aged writer'. It is easy to make fun of those who style themselves as 'writers' when the evidence is sometimes less than clear.
Man, I hear you! Nothing but self-referential narcissism from a nobody.
Can't even begin to take that pitiful piece of print excrement seriously. The only possible justification must be that it is filed under "Arts".
Read a page or two. I knew Saskabushers were proud but I didn't know they could be so full of crap.
Although .... I am prone to describe the drive from Winnipeg to Calgary as "The Gap"..... ;)
Does Alberta have a border with Manitoba? YES!!! It is called Saskatchewan. Its quite a wide border stretching from 102 degrees west all the way to 110 degrees west.
Well, I am more interested in knowing what is happening on the Canadian/Mexican border, but I am sure our enlightened media will tell us soon.
I read the whole thing - it's a lazy, Sunday afternoon, so why not? - but I can't say I really enjoyed it. It's too flowery, too narcissistic, and too third person. I think the entire point was "I'm Dave Bidini, hear me whine (about not being young)."
Oh the shame of it all. Once proud Saskatchewan reduced to a borderline.
When I was a school kid in Manitoba,I always wished we bordered on Alberta,as it was SO much easier for a grade three'er to spell.
It's the Province that should be permanently shortened to "Sask".
It's Pangaea, everyone!
I know I missed the obvious, but doesn't the writer mean Montana? Could be an autocorrect like on these #$%#$% ipads.
Johnbrooks, that's not a bad guess, but Marc Gallant is a photographer at the Winnipeg Free Press, so we can safely assume this photo was taken in Manitoba. There's no obvious or natural reason to get Alberta in there. I'm afraid it's just dumb.
