"Remember when Obama said the NSA wasn't "actually abusing" its powers?"
He lied.
So the NSA has, in fact, been "listening in on people's phone calls."
Obama said that wasn't supposed to happen because it would be "against the orders of the FISC." So why didn't the judges on the court catch these abuses?
In another story broken by The Post today, the chief of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Court admits he doesn't actually have the capability to investigate the compliance record of NSA surveillance programs...
More at Instapundit: "So the NSA 'accidentally' wiretapped the DC area code in an election year when illegal NSA surveillance was an issue."

At this point, I don't even think Obama lies. He's reached a point where his ignorance and mendacity sublimely meld together and he just says whatever he thinks sounds good and he thinks his sycophants will like. He doesn't even know whether or not what he says is true or even meaningful and he doesn't care to. 'Is it constitutional? Sure why not.'
Wow. What you said.
He is comfortable with his lying and his deliberate (or non-deliberate) attempts to ruin the US. He wouldn't heed the Russians' warnings about the Tsarnaevs so his supporters can never claim the surveillance was/is justified.
That people accept it is the most troubling.
So all communications during the election were compromised, strange also how the republican system "failed" on election day. The election was stolen, will the military please overthrow this illegal government!
osumashi, "That people accept it is the most troubling"
ditto for those who believe in a phantom god, makes their sanity as questionable as that of the lefties
"Ignorance and mendacity" seem to be the defining characteristics of the contemporary "progressive". So convinced are they of their own rightness and righteousness that the cause justifies any tactic.
Are we surprised? A poseur who has even misrepresented his personal background will say anything he needs to to keep the lynch mob at bay.
As for NSA trespass, the natural course of authority is to expand and ultimately dominate.
A Prophesy -
"The American of today, in fact, probably enjoys less personal liberty than any other man of Christendom, and even his political liberty is fast succumbing to the new dogma that certain theories of government are virtuous and lawful, and others abhorrent and felonious. Laws limiting the radius of his free activity multiply year by year: It is now practically impossible for him to exhibit anything describable as genuine individuality, either in action or in thought, without running afoul of some harsh and unintelligible penalty. It would surprise no impartial observer if the motto “In God we trust” were one day expunged from the coins of the republic by the Junkers at Washington, and the far more appropriate word, “verboten,” substituted. Nor would it astound any save the most romantic if, at the same time, the goddess of liberty were taken off the silver dollars to make room for a bas-relief of a policeman in a spiked helmet. Moreover, this gradual (and, of late, rapidly progressive) decay of freedom goes almost without challenge; the American has grown so accustomed to the denial of his constitutional rights and to the minute regulation of his conduct by swarms of spies, letter-openers, informers and agents provocateurs that he no longer makes any serious protest." H.L. Mencken - The American Credo: A Contribution toward the Interpretation of the National Mind (1920)
Proclamations, utterances, would be announcements of the current occupant of the White house are valid for the period that the sound waves of his voice dissipate into nothingness, which those are in the first place, only with sound.
Rushes theorem works like a charm (as they say). It's really not the responsibility of the occupant what happens whatsoever.
It's the others ..... who ever he, she, it may be.
Do you think that the incestuous relationship of "journalists" and politicians, produces flawed existence?
Now if the plebeian did not have to pay for it, they could intercourse as much as it pleases them.
Since the working stiff has to pay, they should be thrown to the lions until there is not so much as a greasy spot left of them.
The second comment should actually be in the post above this one.
Apologies/
So this is why they didn't catch the Boston Marathon Bombers - while the bombers were planning the attack (and traveling to Russian terrorist camps for training), the government was too busy listening in on Congress's phone calls to be bothered.
Somehow, they'll spin this as a need for more surveillance. If I had a million dollars, I'd bet it.
So it didn't occur to these pea-brains that it might be a little odd that there were MILLION of calls per day to Egypt?
If it were me, I would be ashamed to put my stupidity on public view by coming up with such a crappy excuse.
Barry? Lie? Our Barry? Lie? Oh the shock. Actually he doesn't lie very much - only when his mouth parts move.
Are you saying that you believe The Phantom is a god?
Strange...
