About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

As in Somalia, a "failed state" seems to be the objective of the puppet masters pulling the strings on the players. Unlike Somalia these failed ME states will have a lot of oil wealth open for grabs - and that is always a factor in play when we see the manipulated destabilization of ME countries.
If one were of a conspiratorial bent, or an objective observer of dark politics and global financial interests, one could conclude the Brotherhood and other murderous fundamentalist factions were armed and aimed at these formerly stable nations by interests who will profit from the oil these nations MUST sell to rebuild their shattered infrastructure and economies.
It is entirely useless to project the dreams of a 21st century mindset on people who want to return to a 7th century mindset and governance.
Except it wasn't an Arab Spring, it was an Islamic Spring, and there won't ever be peace, for anyone, as long as it is.

Psalm 40
1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
Cheers

Hans, I think a reading of Isaiah 19 will prove a lot more interesting, with respect to Egypt's current and near-future state.
Gen. Lee Wright, good choice. You would think that chapter was written lately.
The people concerned in the list Hans provided can thank Obama.
Thanks for your post, Hans.
Thanks, Hans.
Unless there is an Arab Lech Walesa in the wings, the only options for Egypt or Somalia et al are somewhat American-friendly dictators or Islamists. No happy middle here.
