It rather seems as though he wants the death penalty, i.e. to become a martyr. It's not very satisfying when the enemy wants you to do what you want to do to them.

The comments are rich. My favourite is the argument that terrorism involves attacking just civilian targets, never military. I read one source supporting that idea and it was blathering nonsense - terrorists attack civilian targets therefore terrorism only involves civilian targets and other such begging the question nonsense.

Right. Everybody knows AQ has a terrorist attack wing and a workplace violence wing.
