About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

After reading this, I wish, for the refreshing honesty of it all, that the authorities would stop lying and freely admit that they are organs of a totalitarian state.
Yeah well the barn burners managed to grab over 400 firearms swiftly without any wiretapping.
All data bases are intrusive.
"The government has adopted a secret interpretation of the Patriot Act which allows it to pretend that “everything” is relevant … so it spies on everyone"
It also adopts an "everyone is a suspect" mentality in government agencies who enforce the act. This essentially abridges the right to presumed innocence and institutes reverse onus not just obliterating privacy. Something I warned about when Bush was pushing this abomination Orwellianly named the patriot act.
Now the act has been revised and is administered by a truly criminal statist you can see the dangers. The real danger is in trying to put this evil Genie back in the bottle now it has been institutionalized. These bureaucrats will fight like hell to keep their surveillance state sinecure.
Who said the USSR, KGB, etc. was gone, and the two Germanys where united? Oh yeah. They are. In the USSA.
Yes sasquatch, and in the Great Left Coast, police roadblocks abound. At least there not secretive about it, it's just for our own good.
Curious as to why this is not a regular occurrence down in the Lower Mainland. How about blocking one of our bridges during rush hour? It amounts to the same thing as blockading highway 5.
Oh my gosh; I better watch what I suggest; big ears are on the prowl.
Why in the world is anyone surprised by this?
The Nazi propaganda machine coupled with Gestapo information networks turned a once proud people into a pack of trembling sheep.
Do you think that this went unnoticed by the world's power addicts?
The US and other governments have been in bed with the telecommunications industry since the end of WWII.
The advances in American communications technology, and the availability of loads of disguised money, have made simply made the US government better at it than anyone else.
Bless those who are stealing the weapon from its creators and using it to bring them down.
So I guess the rules that existed prior to 9/11 that made it illegal for the NSA and the CIA to spy domestically were well reasoned and purposeful? The whole system setup by Bush and congress after 9/11 was a huge mistake. So mad at myself for thinking it was an ok idea. All the slobbering idiots who claim that "slippery slope arguments are flawed" should go shoot themselves in the head.
The biggest mistake one can make here is reducing the situation to "us vs them". It's us vs us.. ie nearly half of America uses Facebook. There's no fixing that by firing a few mandarins or changing some regulations.
you.are.all.being.spied.upon.
Get used to it.
FORWARD.
Remember that "RESET" button Shrillary gave the Russians?
Well,,, looks like Putin's reset button to the USA is Snowden.
That's not all Sasquach, according to the Information commissioner not only are they out robbing abandoned homes but they refuse to answer access to information requests as well - so this creeping police state crap is inundating us as well - maybe from the police brass level because the government is uncooperative with their unlawful agendas.

There is nothing new about the current state of affairs in the USA.
The only thing is new is, how powerful free people let themselves be sweet talked into free stuff.
Seems greed works every time it’s tried, how many times it’s tried. Even though the takers know, one would think, from history how it will end up.
It seems that while the free enterprise is called greedy, it in actual fact, the greedy are the socialists, the unions, the plebeians.
It also seems that the latter ones know the final phase of destruction; it is as though they live in hope that it will come after their time is up.
The 1984 described how things will be. Orwell was more accurate than he ever dreamed of.
Does this sound familiar of the current regime of the occupant of the White House? Although the previous one set the base for it.
…… is a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public mind control, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (Ingsoc) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as thoughtcrimes……
It can easily added that the mass media are in full support of the current course of events. Just look how they destroy everyone that steps out of narrative.
Currently they are working on Rand Paul.
Also note how surprisingly easy Paul Ryan surrendered.
Lev - America always had a police culture and a military culture and since WWII was a top down Washington controled federation but the Police culture operated largely within constitutional confines, the Militry culture and policy was always seperted from Domestic civil policy and Washington still feared the electorate enough to keep their unconstitutional urges in check - NEVER has Amerika seen the deadly effct of importing both the tactics and weapons of war home to be deployed on the civilian population as in this so-called post 9/11 era - which is a defacto police state under quasi martial law. NEVER has Washington and the oval office been so in line with the fascistic urges of the Pentagon and security/intel/industrial complex to adopt/enact/enforce policies which are openly unconstitutional, unlawful and IMHO immoral.
America is in a post-constitutional tail-spin and resurrecting the economy or tossing welfare to the curb will not alleviate this situation - America is due for civil disobedience and tax revolt to depose the criminal cartel in Washington. The time for a second continental congress to reinstitute constitutional rule of law by the people has come - otherwise America's slide to 3rd world corruption and authoritarianism will continue unabated.
