In tonight's Tips music Tennessee-born clawhammer banjo player Clarence Ashley plays and sings a distinctly Americanized version of an old English folk song called "The Cuckoo": From 1929, here's Coo-Coo Bird.

Scandinavian Swimmers Warned About Testicle-Attacking Monster Fish

“They bite because they're hungry, and testicles sit nicely in their mouth.”

http://gawker.com/scandinavian-swimmers-warned-about-testicle-attacking-m-1102510076

Is it just me, or does anyone else think the commie skifeet kind of have it coming?

I'm surprised that they have testicles.

Russia is not afraid to use its oil, unlike the US. No eco weenies to slow down progress.

Living Large on the Taxpayers Dime

Rooms have to be found for dozens of Secret Service agents, someone has to carry a selection of presidential basketballs, and of course the family dog needs his own state-of-the-art aircraft.

True that. Having testicles is a form of patriarchal oppression and cultural insensitivity. Shame on you, Scandis.

“It's not normal to get your testicles bitten off, of course, but it can happen, especially now in Sweden."

I feel kind of dirty, linking to Gawker, though.

I think we've located one of the dumbest women on earth. She's an editor at WaPo. It doesn't seem humanly possible that she could be unable to understand Greg Gutfeld's point here, but he have video evidence.

Tomorrow is lovers day in China. It's a lot more complicated than I thought.

Here's the first 1 of 20 Washington Post stories I've read this month:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/missouri-fair-clown-wears-obama-mask-at-rodeo-officials-say-performance-disrespects-president/2013/08/11/6dd2d744-02e9-11e3-bfc5-406b928603b2_story.html

WP: "A clown wearing a President Barack Obama mask appeared at a Missouri State Fair rodeo this weekend and the announcer asked the enthusiastic spectators if they wanted to see 'Obama run down by a bull.'"

"... the state’s second highest-ranking official, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder ... said it was 'disrespectful' to the president."

It's not any more disrespectful than, say, all the garbage that George W. Bush had to put up with during his term. The left doesn't have any "respect" for its opponents, and the public doesn't seem to respond positively to civility these days anyway (probably unfortunate, but that's the reality).

(Kinder is described as a Republican; governor Jay Nixon is a Democrat)

WP: "[One (named) spectator said,] 'It was feeling like some kind of Klan rally you’d see on TV.'"

"[The spectator was also quoted,] 'It was cruel. It was disturbing ... I’ve never seen anything so blatantly racist in my life.'"

This clownish activity falls under the category of "symbolic criticism of a political figure" in the context of an outdoor fair. There is nothing racist whatsoever about criticism of political figures. If that is now considered "disrespectful" or "racist", then the U. S. on the verge of becoming a totalitarian state. This fool spectator should be embarrassed to call himself an American.

Note also that only this one spectator was interviewed for the piece, despite his own contention that "'everybody screamed' and 'just went wild' as the announcer talked about having the bull run down the clown with the Obama mask". It sounds like hundreds of spectators were fine with symbolic criticism of the president (far removed from a real physical attack on him), yet the Washington Post didn't see fit to capture any of their comments.

This is the paper Jeff Bezos just bought. How does he propose to teach its journalists how to do their jobs properly?

Further to the above bit on the rodeo clown dressed as Obama, it was an Associated Press story, and not a Washington Post original, so my last comment was misdirected.

Rest in peace, Eydie Gorme, singer of the big hit "Blame It On The Bossa Nova":

Clarence Ashley was rediscovered during the '60s folk music revival, and made some wonderful recordings with Doc Watson and others.

The real deal.

an article were it lays out how Mursi of the MB of Egypt was in the thick of the Benghazi attack, possibly to get a "barging chip" (stevens) to effect the release of the blind shiek

Heard about this on the John Batchelor show last week:

Bank of America's Toxic Tower - New York's "greenest" skyscraper is actually its biggest energy hog:

Oh lordy, with stories of testicle eating trout and Chinese hand jobs, the title "Reader tips" has certainly taken on new meaning. Nothing like starting the week off with a bang. Happy monday, eh.

There's Mamba again talking about testicles. Nuts, I tells ya!

RE pipelines -- this is not a new article, but very informative re the Keystone:

When Bad Hair Day Man turns against Obama then we see the scope of dislike of his instrusionary government:

http://www.ipolitics.ca/2013/08/11/the-cancer-of-the-surveillance-state/

My question to Mr Harris is: why are you surprised. This man and his party said entrepreneurs didn`t really build things and we are all part of government.

Welcome to the hive.

The Forbes article states:

"Pipelines uneventfully transport millions of barrels of crude oil, refined products and distillates each and every day, which according to government estimates, accounts for approximately 65% of all energy supplies used on a daily basis.... There is – very simply and very clearly – no substitute for this system."

The watermelons love to hear this. Since there is no substitute then let's stop the pipelines so the oil stays in the ground. This is their true goal and must be understood within the context of debating alternative ways to transport the bitumen.

The people and foundations bankrolling opposition to the oil sands - Soros, Gore and Strong, some Obama advisors (it seems) - to name a few, work for the competition - Arab oil interests. The last thing Saudi Arabia et al wants is North American energy independence.

It never occurs to them that domesticated farm animals would just be eliminated and replaced on the menu by Bambi and Bullwinkle.

"Founder of Quebec independence party moves to England"

"In an interview with The Canadian Press last year, Aussant explained how he would try to succeed where the PQ has failed.

His plan: Start building the country first, ask the referendum question later.

Aussant said that armed with a majority mandate, an Option nationale government would immediately begin seeking to repatriate powers from Canada to control all of its own taxes; negotiate and sign its own international treaties; and lay out its own criminal code.

The Canadian government could agree or disagree. In any case, an Option nationale government would already be writing Quebec's own constitution with broad public input.

The constitution would include a declaration of sovereignty.

Finally, he said the people of Quebec would be asked to vote on the document in a referendum — which, in Aussant's opinion, Ottawa and the rest of the world would likely deem legitimate."
