Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Oh nosie........you mean a carbon tax didn't work ?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-23646467?NewsWatchCanada.ca
The great minds behind global warming are stumped as to why their predictions have all turned to garbage. Can't be the sun .... so let's blame China. Let's just blame anything to keep this gravy train rolling.

Please do not download any codex or player. Just click on the advertisements than click them quickly off. It should work in most with an adobe flash player. Ignore the lie its outdated. You may get many advertisements before it works. Most you can avoid by clicking off a big blue arrow that directs them with an x beside them
Not that I expect many to view it. Knowing the enemies propaganda though, is informative.
Although over a thousand people were killed in Iraq in july, our MSM has been more or less silent. The fact that we are leaving with our tails between our legs has nothing to do with it....right ? The rest of the world is still watching. When I think of the lives and coin invested in this misadventure it makes me livid. At least we brought them democracy, just like we did in Vietnam. Iran is grateful.

National Post, Saturday, August 10. Krauthammer rips Ohbummer a new one.
http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2013/08/09/charles-krauthammer-the-worlds-first-lexicological-war/
CK: "Obama defends the vast NSA data dragnet because of the terrible continuing threat of terrorism. Yet at the same time, he calls for not just amending but actually repealing the legal basis for the entire war on terror, the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force."
And: "If the tide of war is receding, why the giant NSA snooping programs? If al-Qaeda is on the run, as he incessantly assured the nation throughout 2012, why is America cowering in 19 closed-down embassies and consulates?"
Because cognitive dissonance, a. k. a. hypocrisy, is the left's modus operandi, that's why.
Toronto Star, Saturday, August 10. The vagaries of "cultural appropriation".
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2013/08/09/hm_pulls_hipster_headdresses_from_canadian_shelves.html
"When Kim Wheeler came across a fashion headdress in a Vancouver H&M, the self-described 'proud Ojibway/Mohawk woman who fights against cultural (mis)appropriation' voiced her displeasure to the nearest sales clerk, then took a picture of the item and attached it to the email she promptly fired off to customer service."
"In her letter, Wheeler called the 'faux First Nations headdresses' a 'grievous oversight of cultural sensitivity'."
"'As you may not be aware, headdresses are worn by chiefs in some of our communities, but not all, as we are not a pan-indigenous culture,' she wrote."
Are there any other items worn by "some, but not all" chiefs that we should be aware of, that we're also not supposed to wear?
On the other hand, if you see a person walking down the street wearing a headdress, and you suggest to a leftist that this person might be aboriginal / First Nations, the leftist will more than likely call you a racist for stereotyping people based on what they wear.
Political correctness is not really about respect for other cultures, it's about division, control, and pushing the citizens around.
The warming has slowed because the ocean is absorbing the extra CO2 and heat; that's what it does. The CO2 is altering the ocean's chemistry and it's becoming acidic.
Toronto Star, Saturday, August 10. "Immigration is about people, not economics", according to Debbie Douglas and Avvy Go.
http://www.thestar.com/opinion/commentary/2013/08/10/immigration_is_about_people_not_economics.html
D & G: "[Citizenship and Immigration Canada] background material and its online survey demonstrate a clear bias toward economic-class immigrants, touting their virtues and promoting their numbers at the expense of family-class immigrants and refugees. The consultation questions are designed to illicit [sic] favourable responses regarding economic immigrants, while downplaying the importance of the other two categories of immigrants."
"For instance, when describing factors to consider in immigration planning, the backgrounder equates integration of immigrants with 'economic success,' contrasting them with 'refugees and other immigrants with poor health' who rely on government support to integrate."
In free market laissez-faire capitalism, since trade between persons is voluntary, every person may be considered to put into the economy an amount equal to what he takes out. Immigration is neutral.
The problem arises when you add social programs like Old Age Security and medicare, which have always been sold on the premise that a Canadian citizen who worked all or most of his life and who encounters a sudden bout of poverty or ill health will have something to fall back on. They were never designed so that some immigrant's parents or relatives "in poor health" should be able to come to Canada without ever having paid much in taxes in this country but yet take advantage of our social programs.
In other words -- and this is not a new concept -- you can have an open immigration policy or you can have a welfare state, but you can't have both.
At worst this constant call for expanded family-class immigration might be another example of the destructive Cloward-Piven strategy of attempting to overload social programs to cause civilized society to collapse.
D & G: "And contrary to what the consultation paper may suggest, our government has an important role to play in helping immigrants successfully integrate. Policies and programs that deal with systemic discrimination faced by racialized immigrants in the labour market, and adequate funding for immigration settlement programs are measures that should be part and parcel of any rational immigration plan."
I don't think there were any "settlement programs" in the first half of the 20th century when immigrants were pouring into Canada, and there is no reason why there should be any now. What immigrants do need are jobs, not "settlement programs". In other words, again, they need a free market economy to maximize their chances of success.
The worst-case scenario for this point is that leftist activists run the "settlement programs" to try to persuade immigrants that Canada is still irredeemably racist, through their standard tactic of making mountains out of molehills, as part of the "political correctness" strategy of using real or imagined underclasses as a substitute working class for the purpose of overthrowing capitalism.
And robbing Peter to pay Paul is never "rational".
Whenever someone says something is about "people, not economics", it's probably bad for people, with the possible exception of the person doing the advocacy.

"Follow up: the bogus ‘North Pole becomes a lake’ story"

Title : ELIMINATION North Pole Lake
Caption : EDITORS, PHOTO EDITORS, AND PHOTO LIBRARIANS – PLEASE ELIMINATE AP PHOTO NY109 THAT WAS SENT ON SATURDAY, JULY 27, 2013. THE CAPTION INACCURATELY STATED THAT ‘THE SHALLOW MELTWATER LAKE IS OCCURRING DUE TO AN UNUSUALLY WARM PERIOD.’ IN FACT, THE WATER ACCUMULATES IN THIS WAY EVERY SUMMER. IN ADDITION, THE IMAGES DO NOT NECESSARILY SHOW CONDITIONS AT THE NORTH POLE, BECAUSE THE WEATHER BUOY CARRYING THE CAMERA USED BY THE NORTH POLE ENVIRONMENTAL OBSERVATORY HAS DRIFTED HUNDREDS OF MILES FROM ITS ORIGINAL POSITION, WHICH WAS A FEW DOZEN MILES FROM THE POLE- This frame grab provided by NOAA shows images from the wide-angle camera trained on a weather buoy maintained by the North Pole Environmental Observatory at the North Pole. "Last First: Ice storm at Refuge Islet"
"August 1, 2013"
"This is the latest instalment from the Vancouver-based Last First expedition, four men attempting to travel the Northwest Passage this summer in a 7.6-metre-long rowboat from Inuvik, Northwest Territories, to Pond Inlet, Nunavut. They hope to reveal the shocking effects of climate change on the Arctic."

Well the Warmist party line is that the oceans are absorbing the excess heat, and that CO2 is dissolving in the oceans, which it has always done, anyway. It's not making the oceans acidic, though, just less basic. There is a huge difference, but I wouldn't expect a Warmist to understand that.

Ocean Acidification: The Other Carbon Dioxide Problem
Fundamental changes in seawater chemistry are occurring throughout the world's oceans. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) from humankind's industrial and agricultural activities has increased the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. The ocean absorbs about a quarter of the CO2 we release into the atmosphere every year, so as atmospheric CO2 levels increase, so do the levels in the ocean. Initially, many scientists focused on the benefits of the ocean removing this greenhouse gas from the atmosphere. However, decades of ocean observations now show that there is also a downside — the CO2 absorbed by the ocean is changing the chemistry of the seawater, a process called OCEAN ACIDIFICATION.

Look, sport, you can call it "ocean acidification" until your lungs burst, but the ocean isn't becoming acid. It has a long way to go before it even reaches neutral pH. Maybe you need to take some inorganic chemistry, and learn what a buffer solution is. Sea water is pretty effective buffer.
The usual suspects blather on about "ocean acidification" because they want to scare people into giving up their rights, not because it's true.
