If there really was a major threat, why would you make a big announcement about what you are going to do before you do it? If your first priority is keeping safe then the logical thing would be to get everyone out first and then make the announcement. Telling the enemy what you're going to do just increases the level of danger. Something smells here.

Given the lethal consequences of not responding properly to the Benghazi threat, one shouldn't be surprised by this heightened security. Maybe the POTUS team is just trying to change the channel, or perhaps they're genuinely gun shy now. If the threat now does not turn out to be credible, then question their motives; what they're doing right now doesn't seem that unreasonable.
This is a containment tactic. We have AQ uprising in Syria and (I believe) Egypt along with SA et al. AQ wants to send the world a message they're still a potent force despite the ousting of the Egyptian Sharia government; that's what this is all about IMO, and frankly I was expecting a large AQ operation before now. Additionally the Americans are dangling the olive branch in front of Israel and the Palestinians; this is unacceptable to Islamists.
I remain unconvinced of the motives behind this. Senator Saxby Chambliss (GOP) and a right-winger said today on Meet The Press that this threat goes beyond anything heard since before 9/11. The timing seems questionable but I've got to give his word some credence.

No appetite in the MSM or the present administration for that conversation.. If they fail again its doubling down on sweeping the first failure under the political carpet.. Again no stomach for that conversation either..

Another possibility -- they could be doing the whole song and dance around the embassies as a prelude to their own preemptive strike in the Middle East. This is laying the groundwork for the narrative -- "biggest threat since 9/11 blah, blah . . . we need to go after (whomever) to protect US interests.

Actually, once the Christians and Jews get serious about fighting back, the war will be over in a matter of hours. For the record, I actually think it's an excellent idea to close embassies in the Muslim world. Why need we send them ambassadors, when we have no message for them a mushroom cloud over Mecca wouldn't convey loud and clear? When the survivors of a real war against Islam have been humbled enough to accept the dominion of the God of Israel and His Son Jesus Christ, they'll find some way of sending us the message---such as handing over to Christian justice, without waiting to be asked, the imams and ayatullahs whose false teaching was the undoing of their nations.

People forget that embassies exist as much for intelligence gathering as it does for making nice, not that this admin has demonstrated any ability to gather, use or recognize intelligence. Better they get an Anonymous handle and pick up their data from the web. Their analysts don't seem to have any problem finding and obtaining it.
