Wide body jets cannot be easily knocked down by MANPADs, except by luck.
(You would be in about the same danger if you had a Korean air crew)

Exactly 1(ONE) wide body jet was knocked down by a MANPAD in Iraq during the American occupation.
MANPADs are designed to shoot down helicopters mainly, ground attack jets secondarily.
They have small warheads that work like a shotgun blast. Very ineffective against a jet airliner.

A MANPAD would be virtually useless against a hardened bunker-like structure such as an embassy.

NO, Benghazi did not have an American embassy or even a official mission and even if the U.S. had had one in Benghazi the attack was carried out with garden variety AK-47s and mortars, nothing exotic about those in that part of the world.

This so-called 'information' is pure sophistry put out by the Obama administration to muddy the waters of the congressional inquiry and set up false talking points.

Michael Savage was making the point last night about Bo getting to travel in a brand new state-of-the-art Osprey - meanwhile our Navy Seals in Afghanistan have to take Vietnam-era choppers so as to make them easy targets for his co-religionists.

In answer to the question posed by Hitlery K (and the thread title) ; I think it will make very little difference - and that is both sad and
scary.

Regardless of the evidence coming to light on Benghazi and the fact the Prez ran a campaign of lies and deceit while he was covering his junta;s murder of Americans there (and in fast and furious) it will make little difference in congress getting this criminal behind bars or the media pimping him as a deity, or the food stamp/obamaphone nation who vote for him.

Stevens is dead, Border agents and cops are dead, the gulag nation grows unabated, Snowden has a court ordered fatwa on his head for exposing this corruption and the main culprit in the Benghazi scandal will be running for prez in 2016 - the US is in the hands of a corrupt political insider class which works for special interests - it shows - how much will Americans put up with - a lot apparently.

Irrelevant whose MANPADS they started out as:
-overthrowing Ghadafi left approx. 15,000 of them in these terrorist's hands
-MANPADS are not meant to shoot down civilian airliners and so do the job very poorly(not a significant threat anyway)
-shooting down planes has nothing to do with closing down embassy buildings
