Pakistan-based militants are preparing to take on India across the subcontinent once Western troops leave Afghanistan next year, several sources say, raising the risk of a dramatic spike in tensions between nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan.
Intelligence sources in India believe that a botched suicide bombing of an Indian consulate in Afghanistan, which was followed within days last week by a lethal cross-border ambush on Indian soldiers in disputed Kashmir, suggest that the new campaign by Islamic militants may already be underway.

Well - no. Hinduism goes back historically to at least 1500 BC, and was developed into a sophisticated religious/philosophical system by about 300 BC. Islam originated with Mohammed, whose first revelation was about 610 AD. It arrived forcibly with Turkic invasions in the 12th C. Eventually these bloody conquerors built up an empire, the Mughal Empire, which while it created many fine buildings such as the Taj Mahal and the Jama Masjid, was notorious for its cruelty and brutality to Hindus. And of course in the Hindu Kush, in Afghanstan and orthern Pakistan, they exterminated the peaceful Buddhists. "Hindu Kush" is supposed to mean something like, "crush Hindus".
India has about five times the population of Pakistan; they are well used to Muslim violence. Unlike us, the Hindus are quite capable of violence themselves. Both sides have nuclear weapons, but India has the Agni V ICBM; admittedly still under development.
So I would be expectant rather than alarmed at the notion of Pakistan or extremist groups in Pakistan attacking India.
As long as the prevailing winds co-operate, lets play nuke whack -a- muzz!
