About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

My understanding is that in Catholic theology animals do have souls of a type.

Cats definitely go to heaven.
Cute but fake. If the signs change you'd expect the two cars in the background of the Catholic sign to change too. Just sayin'
I think the (former?) blogger Ex-Democrat (or something similar) used to photoshop church notice boards "talking" to each other too.
I'm sure dogs would like crunchy Communion wafers.
I'd keep them out of the wine though.
If a labrador retriever can't make it into heaven along with it's bird hunting master, who is going to retrieve those high flying geese?
That's very, very funny.
I believe it was the Pope Emeritus, Benedict when asked about this responded, of course.
Then he quoted that great philosopher, Mark Twain: "If there are no dogs in heaven....it would not be heaven."
I'm neither Christian nor Catholic.....but I concur with his position.
Mark Twain also declared: "I have no use for man nor boy, who has never had an understanding with a pup."
I hope dogs go to heaven, although I don't think their passing should be included in news reports of victims of fires and etc.; even Buddhists believe that there are no cats in heaven. I hope horses go to heave too!
The late Alex Colville (perhaps the greatest painter which Canada has produced) regarded dogs and purely and simply good.
It's a prank. Here's a statement from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church (http://www.cpmag.org/cpupdates.php?aid=629)
phunny as H3LL
Bulletin humour.
Isa 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
Isa 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
Isa 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
Isa 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

As I understand it (and that's a very severe qualifier), the idea is that animals do only what the Lord made them to do, and therefore everything they do pleases the Lord. After this world ends, there will be a new world in which that which has pleased the Lord in this world will be restored, and that which did not will be forgotten. So, whether any person will live again in the favour of the Lord is up to that person, because every human has to decide whether or not to please the Lord, and then do something about it. So not every person gets in. But the animals have got it sewn up.
I certainly like the sound of it. And if it isn't exactly in Scripture, it's certainly consistent with quite a lot of it (as Lori has noted), and also with some otherwise hard to understand sayings of Jesus that were passed down by the Apostle John and recorded by his disciple Papias. Being still alive in this world, though, I'm in no position to know if it's true. But rest assured, I'm working on it.
