A sideways career move, if ever there was one: Toronto Star columnist Linda McQuaig seeks NDP nomination for Toronto riding

Seems like a commie propagandist just making their agenda official instead of posing as a neutral unbiased "journolist" - a presstitue coming out of the closet as it were.

The mainstream media is not an actual business per se, but an integral appendage of the institutional left. Recent virtual giveaways of troubled media "assets" in the US seem to confirm this theory. They only seem to hold the political class to the fire is when power is nominally held by conservative progressives rather than their more full-on statist kinfolk. For McQuaig, this is a demotion.

Don't you mean rats leaving a sinking ship, Kate?

McQuaig has guessed (correctly) that printing bankster and communist propaganda and expecting normal people to pay for it no longer makes business sense, and most of her buddies in the mainstream media will be out on their backsides themselves by 2020, assuming an eccentric billionaire like Jeff Bezos can't be convinced to pay out of his own pocket to be told what he and his fellow cocktail communists want to hear. If she can't get a safe seat in Ottawa it's a pretty miserable old age she has to look forward to on the CPP---assuming the CPP holds out for the twenty years she takes to die.

Walin, Duffy, Kent, Smith.

Mr Adam Carolla would refer to this as a 'lateral move'..

Excellent retort, Anon, but even the institutional left does a little house cleaning now and again. Those individuals would be considered moderate progressives and therefore fit in with the conservative progressives quite well.

Yes, Occam; another red Clydesdale for Whinny's stable.

If either McQuaig (for the socialists) or the Gloob rep looking to get the nod from the party that won't admit its socialist are elected in Toronto Center that should put to rest the question of how those recent by-elections turned out the way they did.
Its apparent that for any successful conservative capitalist running for elected office is too big a sacrifice on all levels, financial, social, and professional.
This leaves someone like myself responding to the question of who to vote for with this statement:

"Show me an actual conservative thats running, and I'll vote for them because right now I see three or more brands of socialist and somebody that conditionally supports conservative ideas calling themselves progrssive"

I hold no personal grudge against these folks, but if they want a conservative government elected they need to stop apologizing for being conservatives.
And it won't matter a hill of beans who the leader of the party is if the

From one dying institution to another.
People will not buy the junk she is selling thro the paper, will they buy her direct?

Quaig always was a political advocate, never a journalist. Now she's made an honest woman of herself. I hope she loses.

To keep score so far, it's the shallow versus the malevolent. Both are obsessed with "inequality", which is a normal part of a free economy. As a wise commenter here wrote, "income inequality is largely a result of effort inequality".

That tells you all you need to know about Chrystia Freeland and Linda McQuaig. I'm no fan of Bob Rae but both these two airheads are a distinct step downward.

The Conservatives have yet to nominate a candidate.

At least she is not referred to as a "journalist/reporter." terms bandied about by leftists trying to give their ramblings credibility.j
