About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Welcome to the "Let It Burn" crowd, Cappy.
"But three decades of socialist brainwashing in the public schools, media, and government has resulted in an ignorant, entitled, and lazy electorate that cumulatively has rejected America, freedom, individualism and liberty, and instead replaced it with socialism, the lack of responsibility, commune, lies about the real world, and a vile code of political correctness."
Throw in that disgusting word 'Trudeau' and you pretty well have Canada nailed to a tee.
And, that pretty well sums McGuinty's Ontario also.
Mark steyn gave a shout out to Kate "a blogger from Saskatchewan kate Macmillan" on the Hugh Hewitt show a little less than an hour ago. Mentioned the "he's also giving back the bust of Lenin" post.
Canada is further down the Commi path than The U.S.A., as you so stated Tam Arax; partly because we DO live in a Democracy, not a Republic. We do not have a magnificent Constitution and we do not have Property Rights or any of the other rights that follow having that basic right to own your own place and to have the right to defend what you own. We do have a fine Prime Minister who has given patriots a breathing space and we have a number of good M.P.s who defend the 'Shadow Rights' guaranteed to Canadians in the BNA Act of 1867. However, Turdo mangled and sovietized that Act during his Red reign of disgrace and Canada has not had the political will to trash the blue print of the first look alike Charter presented to the Russian people after the Bolsheviks murdered the Czar and all Russian people who did not want to be a slave in a Totalitarian/ Communist state. We are one election away from something much worse than Bahama if the Dippers/Liberanos/Blocistas win a federal election. We have one Premier in this country who would stand up to the fore mentioned Troika (not one of the females, BTW). We are living closer to the edge than the Americans, IMO. Saskatchewan is not as big or as mighty as Texas.
The Captain makes some interesting observations and they are valid, IMO. I am so glad that I grew up in a country that was interesting and fairly free from nanny.
It was a place where you could walk on the grass, you could smoke in the bar, you could keep some of your own money (ie not taxed to the max), you could say what you believed, you could praise God, you could curse the devil and his pals, you could drive a fast car and not wear seat belts, you didn't have to wear a helment on a motor bike or a pedal bike or while skiing....I pity the young.
Jema54: "Canada is further down the Commi path than The U.S.A...."
I keep thinking of this old sci-fi novel, the back-story of which has the USSR ending up on top while the USA collapses economically and goes full communist. A character christens it 'Texan Socialism', explaining "Having decided to become communist, you Americans set out to prove that you were bigger and better communists than anyone else in the world" (I'm paraphrasing from memory).
I can't help but think that there is something to that in the current political climate, that American national ego is an active factor. That if they're going to have a massive social welfare state, then dang nabbit, it's going to be the biggest rooting tootingest social welfare state ever. That'll show those sissy Europeans!
Some great fun and fantasy with this article. It would all work in a rural setting but in urban situations one had better get the hell out of Dodge because when the welfare cheques bounce , it would get ugly in a hurry. I would guess about 30 days and you could see the fires started by mobs from outer space.
yeah well, We alas knew that civilization is a very thin veneer....
Once agin, I'll point out that there ain't nothin' civil about civil war.......
Luck with rainbows......
Those that see and know, did or are in the process of doing.
My grandparents wouldn't waste anything - they had to raise their family on very little, had outdoor plumbing in the back and a well in the front - no pump, pulled the water up one bucket at a time all year round.
We cut out 'empty calorie' spending as well in the last few years in a more serious way - now saving a few thousand a year. Simple as making a budget and finding where you're throwing money away and stop doing that.
Spending on self indulgence luxury had become a daily 'need'.
The Ghost of Trudeau the First, still haunts this Nation. As the CRTC ruling affirms.
s for the USA,. Some of us knew what would go down before this changeling was elected.
But even than not the depths of corruption, tyranny, surveillance, mismanagement, treaty breaking liar. Including the death of the Constitution. By this man with his enablers have created.
Its just not America he's killing as a figurehead for darker powers. Its a civilization based on decency.Of the Individuals legacy of freedom.
I'm listening to podcast one. Nice Blazing Cat Fur shout out. And I obsessively hate crappy parents too. I loathe the cliche that all parents love their kids. This is clearly, CLEARLY not even close to being the case.(I have issues.)
I enjoy listening to you ramble.
No. I like the Captain's contributions most of the time, but I have never agreed with his “enjoy the decline” message.
I find these suggestions to "go Galt" to be the mark of laziness and ignorance, little better than the ignorance of the mindless masses that have created the mess we are in now. Probably worse, actually, since we should know better. We are basically saying... "we'll take our ball and leave the playground", after the other guy has beaten us. And in fact, we don't even have the ball any more.
How did we get here? How did the successful productive triumphal West get overrun by socialist ideology that is the antithesis of the ideas that led to our success? Was it through the work of a majority of citizens who decided one day that they would rather give over control of their lives and future to the state?
NO. We got where we are because a small number of ideologically driven individuals, socialists and communists, made their way into our education system, and from there spread their influence into our media and our political system. They were patient. They got to our children. They took 2 generations, while those children grew up and furthered the cancer. And now they are our media and our political leaders.
The people who beat us did not look for money, or fame, at first. They just advanced their sick socialist nanny-state ideology one small battle at a time while people like us did nothing to fight back in the parent-teacher associations, in local politics, in small low level policy-developing organizations. They showed up and bent the system to their ideology year after year. We ignored, or were too busy, or didn’t see the threat until too late.
What they did, we can do right back at them. But we have to sacrifice our time and comfort. Instead of going Galt, get involved in local politics, especially school board politics, get involved in charities and activities that promote independence and responsibility, draw in children and young adults, and show them the lie they have been fed all their lives. Don't expect to get paid for it, but show up, year after year, and there will be results. The deeper we sink before something is done to show the lies that the Trudeaus and Obamas and Camerons and McGuinty’s of the world have been feeding us, the more painful the climb back will be. Giving up now is no solution. It’s cowardice and laziness. And that’s what got us here in the first place.
Appropo my last rant...

Further proof that RAH saw all this coming 50 years ago.
It amazes me that conservatives assume there is some inherent strength within the masses, particularly in the USA, which will wake up one morning and see the error of their ways. It simply isn't going to happen. It has been educated out of them!
Progressives have won the fight. The future is a rear guard action which will ultimately fail. There is no serious force at work to change the direction. Neither the CPC in Canada or the GOP in the USA are making any effort to educate voters of the end game. I don't know whether the progressives in our society are calculating communists or lazy no minds looking for a free handout.
The Captain's missive of 'going Galt' is a practical response and acknowledgement of where we are headed. What might be underappreciated are the enhanced tools that those in power will be able to utilize to retain their control well into the approaching 'Dark Ages'. I guess the reverse is true as well as those opposed also have access to 'interesting tools'.
So, you've given up, then?
50 years ago, the evil monkeys of socialism didn't give up. After communism failed in Russia, they didn't give up. And now they control the EU and increasingly our countries as well.
But we are just going to give up?
We deserve to lose, then.
old Lori;
Jeez man. Even my own kids won't listen to me. My son thinks the 'climate change' people might have gone to far but prefers to error on the side of preservationists. After all business is in it for just a buck. My son is a pretty smart kid and has recently bought in to his own business. I am hoping he will learn to appreciate the contradictions of his arguments with experience.
Communist and socialists have been at this for over a hundred years not 50. They are winning because the control education and most of government. Am I giving up? In some ways I guess I am. They won't change what I believe and they won't stop me from trying to convince others. What efforts I make won't change where we are headed. My generation (Canada) have never had to put anything on the line like my parents had to. Perhaps that has to happen before true appreciation and respect for individual liberty and responsibility can occur.
Well, if everyone who decided to tune out and "enjoy the decline" spent 2 hours a week in a local community activity where they could influence community decisions, and was willing to buck criticism and insist that their conservative voice be heard, we might have a chance.
Victory over the moochers is a worthier goal than being the voice of schadenfreude in a destroyed society.
Old Lori, the reason that I see value in what the Captain and CT have both said is because my better half and I recently picked up some bed bugs and brought the little darlings home in a suitcase; they crept in in a far away place, survived a 40 below landing in Canada, and started biting us about 4 days after arrival. It was a nightmare as the only reliable killer of bedbugs is DDT and it is banned in Canada. After washing everywhere and everything with bleach and ammonia, with no success; my better half suggested we starve the little SOBs. We 'trapped' them in one room (the bedroom.. they like to live near their 'host' (humans and other warm blooded creatures) , they blood suck at night and they inject a stinger tranquilizer in the 'host' before beginning their 'work' so the host will not detect them, wake up and kill them. Atter engorging themselves with the blood of a 'host' they crawl off the bed to a dark, shadowy pLACE and lay eggs - lots of eggs! Before the 'host' wakes up the bugs have moved in and taken over. They are almost impossible to fight and kill without DDT.
We isolated the filthy bloodsuckers, we put plastic on the mattress and box spring,we put all of our clothes in plastic bags and put the bags outside (it was 40 below and they froze after 24 hours), I found that the Silicon Dioxide powder shreds BBs if they crawl across it so I spread that all over the bedroom and in all the corners of the room. We put the bed legs in oil filled cans (to trap and smother them when they came crawling up to suck our blood) and left the window open so the room was always very cold. In the end we starved, shredded and froze them to death before they could reproduce and drive us out.
We 'let the B###st##ds freeze and starve in the dark'. This works with bedbugs (it works best if you fix the problem right away, BTW), why would it not work with the same ilk who walk on two legs?
Personally, I think the whole thing started back with Prohibition.
But I don't worry about this crap. The worm is ever-so-slowly turning even in Europe, the heart of the beast. Mass immigration of barbarians is destroying the legitimacy of the Left here and abroad. Widespread insolvency is destroying their bureaucracies, as they begin to be unable to make payrolls.
Question for the Captain, how many crooked health inspectors are shaking down restaurants in Athens right now? Probably not too many, since none of them are getting paid, and since the cops have a lot better things to do than back up bent government jackals. You can't be enforcing all kinds of regs and fines all by your lonesome, can you?
All I have to do is sit back and watch the vast machinery of Human Nature grind them all up and spit them out.
But if you're a Man of Action!, never mind going Galt. Too boring. How about a nice tax revolt instead? It would be the stake in the vampire's heart, wouldn't it? How about starting one in some place like Detroit? No city services or state services anyway, just stop paying taxes. You could probably get every property owner in the city on that bandwagon.
If as unlikely a pig as Barack Obama can get elected, then Captain Capitalism or any other functional human being can create a popular tax revolt. Sell it to the Leftie OWS retards as an anti-war, eco-friendly tax revolt, they're dumb enough to go for that.
A tax revolt is effective, as shown by Detroit. They just packed up and left. Once the "makers" pull out it all goes to hell in a hurry. The "tackers" is all that's left and the biggest industry is probably drugs. Hard to tax that.
http://finance.townhall.com/columnists/chrisedwards/2013/07/29/detroits-high-property-taxes-n1651149
The whole let it burn approach is a matter of cowardice. Of surrender. After the debtpocalypse happens, what then? Do you think the government won't just rob you, enslave you, or kill you? Do you think your family will appreciate your principled decision to give up? At least have the guts to fight against the destruction of your country, or withdraw to places that are somewhat sane and make your stand there.
Also, Captain Capitalism, the smug superiority you feel over people who are trapped in debt is disgusting. It's straight out of Hollywood liberal territory.
Great comment, spot on, CT.
"We were supposed to inherit the world's greatest country"
~Cap'n Capitalism
How can you inherit Canada if you're an American?
8^D
You know Jema 54? Social Security, what they call the Canada Pension Plan here, was brought in by FDR in 1935.
That is the entitlement program that is going to sink the U.S.
We here in Canada never got any Prime Minister anywhere near as far Left as FDR until Lester B. Pearson in the mid 1960s.
And the unions in Canada don't have nearly as much power as they do in the U.S., not even close.
In 1963 whoever shot JFK overthrew the entire executive branch of government in the U.S. All the cabinet positions are appointments of unelected backroom buddies of the President.
You should see the list of criminals, duly tried and convicted by juries of their peers, that U.S. President BJ Clinton pardoned.....pardoned as if he was King of England back before the American revolution.
And Barack Obama is going to do the same thing.
Nothing of the like could be done in Canada.
Barack Obama wipes his ass with the American constitution ever day and twice on Sundays.
The Greatness of the American Republic is and always has been a myth built with borrowed money.
Oz - how I wish what you say was so - do you remember the NEP? Turdo also declared martial law in Quebec and sent the Canadian army in to enforce it! The Reform Party stopped the complete takeover by the commies here. The msm in Canada covered up the dirty Commi deeds in Canada - most people do not know that PM J. Cretin bought blood from Alabama prisons (via Bill C.) for the Canadian Red Cross. Bill would not allow that blood in the American blood banks. That blood infected thousands of innocent Canadians with HIV. Who went to the jailhouse for that dirty deed? The msm never mentioned it! We subsidize 'clinics' to kill small human babies. We have had "Medieval Care" for decades, Obamacare and the other thing the Americans have for seniors is less than a decade old and Americans are fighting it tooth and nail.
We do not have property rights or a second amendment. We have a fine PM right now but we do not have the tools (Constitution and Bill of Rights) that Americans have to fight an evil leader. Canada would fold under like a card table if we were attacked because we have already lost most of our rights as sovereign citizens in a sovereign nation. Our only hope is for America to reassert the Freedom that they fought for: I pray that they will and I hope that I can help them.
Well Jema54, I'll say again that Obama demonstrates that the U.S. constitution is a meaningless piece of paper regardless of what is written on it.
I could bring up countless examples of American lack of democratic accountability(eg. counter Trudeau's CAF in Quebec with Billy Jeff's Ruby Ridge and massacre at Waco Texas) the only difference is that America's Alphabet Agencies do the work that the U.S. Army is prevented from doing with the Posse Comitatus Act.(if you'll ignore the M60 tanks driven by the U.S. Army at Waco)
As you know, both the U.S. and Canada suspended the writ of habeas corpus in the detention of individuals or indeed masses of individuals belonging to a group during WWII, specifically the detention of members of Japanese Americans and Canadians as well as smaller groups of Germans and Italians.
Not to defend PET, but that is all he did during the October Crisis with the invocation of the War Measures Act.
The blowback in Canada was the MacDonald Commission and the stripping of the national security portfolio from the duties of the RCMP culminating with the creation of CSIS.
Nothing whatsoever happened to the FBI, ATF, or any of their command structure in the wake of Randy Wheeler's wife and infant son being killed by an FBI sniper(the same sniper was present later at Waco), nor did anyone in the responsible Federal agencies have to answer for the deaths and immolation of 87 men, women, and children at Waco.
How many people did the Canadian Army kill in Quebec in 1970?
Zero killed, zero wounded, zero shots fired wasn't it?
Property rights in America? Pshaw.
