  1. Now that they are eating one another the problem should take care of itself. Buy oil stocks as world supply will shrink when the ME goes up in flames.

  3. President Zero won’t be using them to protect any Yanks at the embassy, you can count of that. He will use them to protect his buddy Morsi – one muslim tribal leader extending a hand to another.

  4. Within the last month I was reading a discussion of Egypt with quotes from Egyptians on how difficult it was to obtain enough food – which is, apparently, about six loaves of bread per day for an adult – and the quality of the loaves was deteriorating. Apparently Allah just is not providing. Nor is anyone else. Egypt needs friends (Saudi Arabia), and tourists, and good relations with Israel. Under Hosni Mubarak Egypt had these. No longer.
More generally, in the Middle East, it might be that our enthusiasm for democracy is misplaced. The old-fashioned despots typically were fairly tolerant, of Jews and Christians in particular. No doubt this had its origins in the supply of jizya which made the early Islamic states wealthy. But no matter. At the end of WWII the Middle East was anything but exclusively Moslem. However, the supposed democrats and populists did allow Christans and Jews to be run out. And the fundamentalist Moslems aren’t tolerant of anybody, even other Moslems.
