Rob Ford wins again.
At least this time the agitator ends up paying legal fees, we need more of that to eliminate all these lefty nuisance suits. I’m in favour of professional action against lawyers who process too many, pro bono or otherwise.

A spot of good news for the ever-embattled mayor.
Baaa haaa the bawling and sniveling of the leftards is music to my ears..
Lance, agreed.
No doubt the bast**ds will be back next week with another frivolous suit or contrived scandal. Tides Canada was not amused that their flunky did not take the Toronto mayoralty.
Great to see some sanity coming from the high courts and another good slap down for tiresome old fart Clayton Ruby and his sore loser client.
They can all STFU, Ford is Mayor until the next municipal elections and if going by the polls he’ll be around after that. It’s killing the Lefties who make up much of City Hall.

The only chance they have to get rid of Ford is to rally around a single lefty like Olivia Chow. She might get the Hillary style sympathy vote – squared since he cheated on her years ago – stood by her man, and now he’s gone – a media saint.I suspect there will be pressure from Torstar to get rid of competing lefty candidates.
One more suit sigh… the clown who threw her drink at Ford. Apparently she’s fighting it using some bigwig lawyer. Despite that i hope she’s convicted.
I’m beaming ear to ear at the look on Ruby’s face – agreed Lance we should be going after these nuisance suit shysters – professional actions are slow but there are ways you can file a private action for public mischeif.
Clayton Ruby is notorious for this. Posted a lawsuit against Government of Canada in 1988 against the constitutionality of the Nuclear Liability Act, Energy Probe, et.alii. vs. Regina 1994. He lost with costs, but not before Norm Rubin and Jack Layton roped in the City of Toronto to join the suit and suffer the consequences. The tragedy was that the federal government lawyers excused the plaintiffs from having to pay the defendant’s costs.
No surprise this time the SC refused to hear the case. The Ontario Appeal Court threw out this case with extreme prejudice.
And Rebecca Thompson needs to get better. That script of hers was more than a little bewildered. Speak in shorter sentences, my girl.
The left won’t give up; I wrote Ford to congratulate him this morning, with cc’s to various leftist councillors including my own. Immediate reply from Ford’s office with thanks – his office does reply.
Olivia Chow is campaigning even now for mayor. I received a robocall a few days ago that she was having a ‘telephone town hall’ (?) on traffic gridlock and public transportation’.
First, how did she get my phone number since I’m not in her riding..but from my city councillor who is an ardent leftist. And second, what does she, a federal MP, have to do with intruding into areas that are strictly municipal decisions?
I phoned her office and ranted at them for her campaigning for mayor while being paid as a federal MP. They said she was ‘Transportation Critic’; I said – so what; that refers to federal issues. She has no business campaigning on issues that are the business of municipal decisions. They were not pleased by my call.
But she’s campaigning very hard now. The activist socialist Toronto Star will certainly support her. And probably the elitist latte and arugula crowd of the Globe and Mail.
Congratulations Mr. Ford for keeping the barbarians from breaking down the gates one more time. It would go a long way towards making me believe this country has a future if Ford were able to beat Chow in the next mayorality election. The problem is that I’m sure Toronto’s lefty class will bring in Obamas “how to steal an election crew” to provide advice and help when the time comes.
Absolute nonsense that the SC even considered an appeal of Ruby’s nuisance suit.
The Liberal$ have absconded with million$ of taxpayers’ dollars and have never been taken to court. Rob Ford uses City stationary to solicit $3000 to benefit the football team he coached and he’s hounded for months by a nuisance suit. UN-BEE-LEE-VA-BULL.
Too bad stocks and pillories as agents of public humiliation aren’t around anymore. Ruby should be put in stocks in Nathan Phillips Square. ‘Get a little taste of what he’s put Mayor Ford and his family through.
Good for you, ET. Because if Olivia the grieving widow ever gets her hands on Toronto City Hall, she’ll make David Miller and Barbara Hall seem like a walk in the park.
Of course Olivia won’t get called out on doing exactly the same thing as Rob Ford was accused of doing, will she? Ford was using his office to support a charity; Chow-down is using her federal office to campaign for a municipal one. The Red Star only approves of these tactics when their favoured socialists are doing it.
another nuisance lawsuit nailed — Mayor Ford is batting 100%.
He had another “quiet victory” — he showed up to a specific committee at a critical vote and killed the entire re-introduction of the 5 cent plastic bag tax.
Traffic congestion exists in Toronto for several reasons:
[1] Intensification policy of the last Mayor Miller [NDP]
[2] Resistance to incorporate a traffic light control system that exists in Mississauga
[3] Movement to add LRT/Streetcar (which are governed by the same traffic lights that affect cars) instead of Subways
[4] City Councillors like to introduce traffic lights on almost every side street on a major throughfare
[5] Introduction of bike lanes to streets that used to have 4 lanes and reduced them to 2 lane streets + parking even during rush hour
[6] Refusal by the previous mayor Miller to conduct routine maintenance to the Gardiner expressway
There are more but this is just a start
Should I tackle the NDP councillor’s desires to rewrite citizenship / immigration laws? Grrrr lets give the vote to illegal immigrants.
God help us if Chow ever gets elected.
Lance…
Sec 39.09 of the Rules of Civil Procedure, states the court may award costs to any party in an action or their solicitor…..for delaying. aborting a discovery or bringing a frivilous vexatious action. In the event a solicitor gets dinged with costs he cannot pass those costs on to his client.
That’s the theory….in practice because judges are lawyers it’s sort a professional courtesey not to invoke 39.09.
Tain’t right, tain’t wrong, just is……..
clayton ruby is a marxist — we are talking waffle wing of the NDP — hell he also supported marxist-leninism and even my father called him a comunist and has been known as such as the 60’s. Why does this not been brought out? He is trouted out as as such as a human rights attorney — no — he is a marxist leninist. Call a spade a spade
I wonder how long it would take Olivia Chow to turn Toronto into Detroit if she ever became mayor?
MY BAD
Correction section 57.07……
I wonder if we could get a law passed that require lawyers, of clients assessed court costs and defense costs, to pay the court immediately and recover from their clients….eventually?
