About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

and I can't see Stephen Hawking or his wheelchair.
Excellent camo job.
Israeli ninjas = ninjews!
The Arabs may have the numbers but the Israelis have the brains and discipline. I would pity the Arabs if they weren't genocidal maniacs.
Can't hear Steve Hawking without his israeli technology. Here Steve, have some chicken wings.
Suppose the other 8 soldiers are wearing the new "unobtainium" printed gear. I'm good with that.
What if there's 8 in the bush.
Man o man...I thought I was pretty talented at this sort of thing. The guy to the upper left of the bush is obvious, of course. And I think I see one to the lower right of the bushes, but not enough confidence to actually shoot at the target had it been a situation that merited it. Unless they are completely within the bushes, these guys are extraordinary.
I'm pretty sure that's one right in the middle. Between the rocks and the lower scrub.
I would imagine that they're all crouched down behind the rocks under the gray and green vegetation in the center and the immediate foreground. The bush offers concealment but not cover as an enemy could riddle the bush with bullets.
The only way I could tell was the hood shape of the camouflage.
The one in the stone gully is obvious when you know what your looking for. The guy upper from her not so obvious.. The one behind the wall looks like she is dug in good. The guy in the bushes by the wall could only be seen from his gun.If you din't know beforhand, these people would be invisible.
Yes, these people are well concealed. This reminds me of a black fellow I had in a platoon once. He just smiled, while the rest of us were applying camo to our faces, until the sergeant told him to stop smiling as he would give the position away.
Yes, it was the middle one.
And that my friends, is just yet another reason you don't want **** with the Israelis
Do you suppose Tim Hudak might be under those rocks somewhere?
LOL!
Turkeys wouldn't stand a chance in Israel.
Nice camo!
GO ISRAEL.
Kill the terrorists!
Geez even with your hints I still cannot make them out. I used to pretty good at this (a couple of time my life depended on it) but maybe I'm getting old enough to hang up the holster, as it were.
I think I saw two.
Sorry, I only see the one guy. I guess I'd need to see a video of them all standing up.
Seriously, you guys are trying to tell us you see Jews behind every rock and tree? Get it? LOL!
Gosh I have spent more than an hour of otherwise productive time trying to find these guys. Conclusion: I never want to mess with them, they are just that good. I have a close friend who is a memmber of Mossad and couple of children of friends in the IDF. I don't know much about the kids but I know I never want to get on the wrong side of my buddy in the Mossad.
Can't see 'em, can't target 'em.
Wonder why so many folks can't make that leap of logic to the F-35 and understand why that aircraft makes so much sense for the future of the RCAF.
Well well. I think I can see three of the little buggers but the other six elude me. I used to do this for a living as well. Where the hell is my infrared stuff when I need it ;-)
Can't see 'em, can't target 'em.
-------------------------------------
Maybe not but you can sure as hell target the bush. If you suspect there's a bunch of guys hiding in a gulley what's the harm in dropping a little artillery on 'em? I know we have to identify the target in today's asymmetrical war lest we blow up some sheep but, come on, if in doubt why not just blow it up?
Simple.Hide in plain sight. And no.There is not one in the bushes. If you want to rob a bank, pick one as close as possible to a cop shop.
The harm is giving away the presence, if not the position, of your artillery.
How not to be seen...

This is just psychological warfare. There is really no one there at all. I zoomed in at 400%.
It's just psy-ops. Nothing really there. :)
With today's technology, the simple firing of one round from an an artillery piece can be back-tracked to the exact position of the gun and crew. And then, obviously, it is vulnerable. I don't pretend to have any solutions, but I am sure that various militaries are trying to find a work-around.
Today's tech? Try WWI. Pioneered at Vimy Ridge (the CDN version) using sound triangulation. Albeit, that's a bit different than radar plotting, but not much.
Ha! Everyone knows that there are no trees in the Middle East, so the cunning Israelis are wearing the camo outfits the Canadian Forces were sent to Afghanistan equipped with. They are all in a group masquerading as a tree!
Aviator, there must be a at least a few Gharqad trees. It's Hadithical.
Yes, yes I know all about artillery triangulation. When I was a reservist we were instructed to severely limit the use of our radios because we didn't have fancy-dancy spread spectrum frequency hopping stuff. Still, camouflage has it's limitations in a conventional war where a lot of stuff gets blown up good and you kinda have to move every now and then. My point is simply that hiding doesn't stop you from ending up on the short end of a pressure wave or shrapnel hit, nor a machine gun, mortar round, or heavier direct fire weapons. It might be really useful in an ambush...
PS. For a really interesting read on the beginning of camouflage in WWI, a book called Sniping in France... http://ia600506.us.archive.org/3/items/snipinginfrancew00pricrich/snipinginfrancew00pricrich.pdf
The IDF soldiers -- eight of them anyway -- have no clothes? Or none that we can see?
Yeah "mortar locating radar" takes a lotta fun out of it.
The current SOP is to move immediately after sending mail downrange.....this is why SPs and auxilliary power units are so popular for towed arty. Even heavy mortars are now mostly mounted in tracks (apcs).
Modern tube artillery (heavy)has sufficient range that only overhead recon....aircraft/satellite can witness the move.
The key element in cammo for personel...is simple...don't move...at all. Simply turning yer head can give you and yours away.
The Jews are hiding behind stones and trees.
I got that from the Koran.
That crazy IDF force. Don't they realize real training involves jumping through flaming hoops Hamas style.
http://al-quds.blogspot.ca/2006_04_01_archive.html
Somebody took Monty Pythons' "How not to be seen" lessons seriously, except for that one dude who appears to be taking a shit...
I think I see at least six of them sitting against the wall just above the tree and the uniform is walking right past them ...
So, Lance. Where are they?
`
The rat got me digging through by book collection and I came up with "Modern Camouflage - the new science of protective concealment", Robert P. Breckenridge, Major, Corps of Engineers, Farrar & Rinehart Inc., New York and Toronto, 1942. An interesting book with an interesting history - originally property of the Western Air Command Library, then the RCAF's #12 Air Defence Group and finally the CFS Holberg library. Well worth the 50 cents I paid for it! It describe camouflage as "passive defense" and the "bases of protective concealment". Dang, now I've got to read it again!
Sorry, EJM. No idea. It's a twitter pic from the IDF.
That's exactly what a person working for the Jews would say.
Every single terrorist that the western powers or Israel kills is guaranteed to spawn more radicalism.
Controlling means and opportunity (TSA, ATF, FBI, CIA, etc.) are fool's errands, in that motive will inevitably trump them all.
So Neo...is what you are saying is that we should do nothing? I fully agree that the global war against Islamisist terrorism is going to continue for decades, long after I am gone and likely to when my grandkids are seniors.
But part of the problem is that when incidents like the US Cole, for example, was subject of a terrorist attack, the west didn't respond. That emboldened these jerks, and gave them the idea that the west was weak.
The only thing that these guys respect is brute force. I think we should acknowledge what they respect, and continue kicking them in the n#ts until they crawl back under the rocks they surfaced from, and continue living in the seventh century.
Bruce -
I'm not saying that we should do nothing - quite the opposite.
Countering terrorism with conventional methods is ineffectual and just goads them on - escalating retribution from every side. Violence always begets violence. Radicals (esp. the Islamist variety) understand only violence. The Western world (mostly Christian) created this problem during colonial times and needs to understand and exploit this prehensile mindset by abandoning the ME altogether and letting them decimate themselves - something they seem to be very good at, given escalating sectarian violence.
Without oil revenue from the "Great Satan" there will be no money for arms, ammunition and explosives. Eventually they may come to their senses.
Something hundreds of years in the making won't be fixed any time soon.
sigh
Neo...I must say I am compelled to agree with you...let the ME bastards starve without our dollars. Someone should convince the Obamaessiah that the pipeline might just be a national security issue.
They are all behind the tree DUH!!
I see 4, or rather 1 and 3 other discontinuities where I think IDF soldiers are.
Those dead bushes? Soldiers.
