About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Because Europe is a police state.
This is good video regarding Woolwich

One of these days people will wake up and smell the 5th world war.
One of these days some people will wake up and smell the 4th world war. The evidence is all around us.
LAS: "Because Europe is a Police State."
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we aren't much better off. Police in rural BC, you know, where crime is very low, set up roadblocks at random and stop and search the travelling public. There was a "letter of the day" posted in The Province newspaper on May 19 from a Shawn Buckley describing such an event. The title was: "Letter of the Week: There is never a choice between freedom and safety".
"Something changed for me on May 8 as I was traveling north on the Yellowhead Highway just before Valemount. I was enjoying a mid-afternoon drive on a sunny and warm day. It was a perfect day for a drive until it happened — we came across a police road block. The Valemount RCMP had the highway blocked off and were stopping every vehicle, not just the usual check of commercial vehicles.
The officer I spoke to knew me and let me pass after a few questions. But the car before me, and a line of cars made to pull over on the shoulder, were not so lucky."
I think Shawn is a Kamloops Lawyer but that is third hand info.
And don't worry about this, they are keeping us safe, and there is no other way to find suspects carrying contraband or sitting on their seatbelts; is there??
Traffic control is how law enforcement in North America functions. As almost everyone drives, it's how they catch the bad guys.
Odd that "armed soldiers" DIDN'T SHOOT THE SOB ATTACKING THEIR BUDDY.
Very odd.
Almost as if they didn't actually have bullets...
Not odd at all,Jay. Pretty hard to shoot when you have flowers in your mag and a white rag in the barrel, sorta like the unicorn farts where LAS's brain should be.
The question of whether or not the French soldiers were actually armed is an important one, and remains unremarked in every article about the incident.
It is common for the French military to patrol public places, like airports, carrying assault weapons with empty magazines.
Was this the case here?
If not, why wasn't the son-of-a-bitch shot?
Assault weapons?
Who were they assaulting? Seems they were assaulted.
Or perhaps those were weapons of defensive use?
Quit buying into that media crap name "assault weapon".
peter...Yup.Empty mags, same as the Brits.Funny.Back in '81 when I was Airforce, walked through not only Canuck, but Yank airports with side arms, that had actual(OMG)bullets in them. Now our troopies cannot even shoot unless shot at first.LAS's dream, until it gets it's useless ass out there and has a few rounds coming its way.
As an aside.....how's that garden coming, phil??
that would bee, an "A Salt" weapon
I usually refer to it as a salt shaker
Yes, "assault weapon" is a media buzzword that means whatever the gun-control faction wants to ban on any given day, but what those French troops carry on those patrols actually are properly defined as assault rifles - i.e. compact rifles chambered for an "intermediate" cartridge and capable of semi-automatic and fully automatic fire.
As others have suggested, it is very possible that they weren't loaded (probably did have ammunition with them but an empty magazine on the rifle for show, and they would have very restricted rules of engagement perhaps requiring permission from a higher authority to actually load the weapons.) It is usually thought to be more important that your troops don't shoot your own civilians while putting on these security displays than that they actually catch or kill the enemy, even if it means soldiers get dead.
"...surveillance footage of the attacker showed him as tall and bearded, aged about 35, possibly of North African origin..."
Amish. Algerian Amish. The worst of the worst.
"One of these days some people will wake up and smell the 4th world war. The evidence is all around us."
And Ken nails it. Open Q...how many here were in Siani during "peace keeping"??
Ahh...
Arab spring;
Where a young woman's fancy is covered with a black bag and young men rape donkey's and burn car's.
But, But Obama has said terrorism is less than before 9/11
Of course he never used the word Muslim when saying it.
I guess he has those Amish fully under control now.
"why are armed soldiers patroling a commercial district just west of Paris?"
Because Euro/EU technocrats determined radial cultural homogenization was needed to dissolve the strong cultural/linguistic/religious tradition of the host nations in order to obliterate borders and dissolve the independent nation state in favor of the Euro super state.
As Kate would say - another social experiment gone horribly wrong.
Those American Amish are growing and storing up their own food, keep to themselves and wear beards too. Hmmmmm need to get them watch-listed. Obviously they're right wing conservative preppers aligned with the Algerian Amish.
Pat: "Traffic control is how law enforcement in North America functions."
Then Pat, I respectively submit that all we need for Policing are Airport Baggage Checkers. Why pay a carefully selected person $90+K/year plus a fortune in training when the job can be done by $15/hr baggage checkers.
Why don't we do the same road-blocks down South in our big cities where the crime is? Why not in Victoria?
Why has Pierre's famous Charter no clout when it comes to innocent law-abiding citizens?
My Father would be rolling over in his grave right now. He landed in Normandy July 15, 1944, but went through some of the worst fighting to secure Belgians and Dutch from the same sort of searches.
Policing is only easy in a Police State.
You order your solders to patrol unarmed / unloaded so enemies can run up and stick a knife in their neck.. Then stand there like useless bitches while Mr 6'4 bearded guy makes his escape..
This is so you can send a message?
Yes. First thing the pols want to do is send a message to their own electorate that they are doing something about the terrorist threat. Actually doing something about the terrorist threat comes later, usually after things have gotten much worse and you put a new set of pols in place.
The last thing they want or we need is open violence in the streets..
Problem is do they have the stomach or even the ability to criminalize half their population and not call it a civil war..
Anyway the biggest problem is white leftists and liberals.. Muslims are irrelevant.. Nothing more than a shield for these people and their politics to hide behind.. They dont want them to take over either, but they are willing to use them for short term political gain.. To keep the wolves at bay while they hope a solution falls from the sky..
Understanding the problem is the first step in fixing it.. Muslims arnt the problem, we are.
Jay said: "Anyway the biggest problem is white leftists and liberals.. Muslims are irrelevant.. Nothing more than a shield for these people and their politics to hide behind..."
Yes. I keep saying this, and a lot of people here keep giving me a hard time. If we ENDED WELFARE for immigrants tomorrow morning, we wouldn't have any Muslim goat herder types left in this country by Christmas. Some doctors might stay, the useless dirtbags who like to stab people would all leave on the first available boat.
Muslims -are- irrelevant. Liberals are the problem.
LASsie said: "Because Europe is a police state."
If Europe actually was a police state, none of these jihadi idiots would still be alive. The Stazi would have rounded them all up on 9/12/2001 and hustled them all off to "work" camps someplace. Along with all the homos, Lefties, "intellectuals" and anybody else with any inclination to cause trouble.
It can be argued that Europe is -becoming- a police state, and I'd certainly agree with that. But its a long way off from the real thing.
No, it's a police state. You don't need to be totalitarian to be a police state. Sweden for instance has Orwellian levels of surveillance as does much of the rest of Europe. No self-defense rights. Canada is getting worse (bill S-7) but it's still not that bad.
Happened in Victoria recently too. They shut down highway 1 and pulled over every car during the morning commute. Traffic was insane.
