We're back from the American National Specialty weekend in Missouri, with one superstar retired - and another launched.

AmGCh.CanCh.Minuteman Goldikova was awarded Select in her final ring appearance at the American Miniature Schnauzer Club National on Saturday. Also in the final lineup was "Sprite", AmGCh.CanCh.Minuteman Safety Last was First Award of Merit.
At the evening finals: Best Brace in Show |
Sunday was the Twin Cities MSC Specialty Show - an new day with a new judge evaluating the same dogs often results in different outcomes. And did it ever! Can.Ch.Minuteman Toxicology came out of the classes in a surprise upset, defeating over 150 dogs to win Best of Breed and complete his American Championship title. And so it begins again. |

Thanks to the guest bloggers who keep things running during my road trips. I note that you've managed to push the Obama administration into complete meltdown during my absence - SDA gets results with or without my help!
After a few more hours of rest, blogging should resume to normal.

Looking good Kate!
Your doggy looks good too!
Ah, our Kate and the little 4 leggers win another one, congrats to all
That doggy gets a biscuit!
Congrats Kate - I know campaigning a dog is tireless work and a lot of time and dedication. Just bought a new pup after retiring from the dog comps for a few years - I have to say the impulse to compete is still there. Have to see how the pup turns out before I decide. Get some rest, glad you're back.
BTW: The Obumbles Junta didn't need SDA;s help to melt down, they were their own worst enemies and implosion was inevitable. Control freak spontaneous implosion syndrome.
Wowza Bowzah!! Good going.
Kate has gone to the dogs!! Well done, Kate and canine friends.
Good work Kate! Congrats!
You have some pretty good housesitters too.
Congratulations Kate and friends.
Lance was working so much he passed on lunch. :-)
UG! Kate!!! I would have LOVED to attend! You were in my back yard!!! Tell me next time!!!
Congratulations!
Kate is back & BC's Dippers have been defeated, it's a very good day.
Congratulations, Kate. My friend were there doing Agility - they had a blast. Glad you and the dogs are safely back.
Ain't none of them can hold a candle to my old Glengarry High-plains Moose Hound, Jerome!
Congrats and welcome back!
SDA always rocks. Your friends and hubby always do a great job.
However, you were conspicuous in your absence.
Lovely Dogs.
You really have some fine looking animals there Kate. Must feel good to get recognition for all your hard work, which you clearly deserve.
Welcome home.
Once again you have done what you do and done it well. Congratulations. Now if we could only get a nice portrait of you and one of your charges...
btw, the captya still sucks...
Your dogs are beautiful, Kate, and cute. Some dogs in some dog shows, you've gotta wonder.

Welcome back!
Aye Jamie...but can Jerome ride a 4-wheeler?
My K-9 girl can...and I'm thinking if the cops ever stop us I'll tell them she is my seeing eye dog :)
And, while His Foulness experiences a few difficulties in Washington, the Boston and Massachusetts police are outdoing themselves:
"With the city still jittery after the April 15 terror attack at the Boston Marathon, word that two women and five men, reportedly from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Singapore, had been found in the restricted area around the Quabbin Reservoir [after midnight] caused concerns. The reservoir serves Boston and some 40 other communities in the area. ...
"When the police officer asked why they were trespassing, members of the group replied that they were chemical engineers and recent college graduates who had an educational interest in the reservoir."
So after questioning the police let them go.
Chemical engineers for God's sake! Maybe, maybe, they were just up to hanky-panky. Let's hope for the safety of residents of the greater Boston area that that's all it was.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
"......but can Jerome ride a 4-wheeler?"
Imagine so...I've caught him riding all sorts of things. ;)
Congrats on the dogs!
But - "Safety Last"? "Toxicology"? These names are just plain strange. Where on earth do they come from?
Kudos!
Got one of these?

I name my litters on themes. "Safety Last" was from a litter named for silent films, "Toxicology" was from a poison themed litter. Each dog in a breed has to have a unique name in the registry, and for show dogs they can be quite inventive. We want people to remember the dogs, and a catchy name helps.
In addition, most serious breeders use a registered prefix to identify animals as those they have bred (mine is Minuteman).
