Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Shakespeare looks like a spaz.
The Shakespeare one is scary as I know his double! I see that Nelson has the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal - he and Ezra have something in common!
Both images of Shakespeare look spazzed out. Henry looked good. A bit of Steyn to him. Did someone @ Ace already say this? and Rep Issa is asking for depositions, so it's going to be an interesting little bit. More so if you enjoy implosions & car accidents. Ok, I tried to stay on topic.
pssst B. Hussien, "everybody else knows"
I don't think Shakespeare looks like a spaz. He looks a bit foppish (it's the hair), but intelligent.
Why would Shakespeare maintain the neatly timmed beard but treat his hair like terminal 'bedhead'. A Shoreditch shirt, in my part of the world that is simply a plaid shirt ususally made of flannel and worn in winter for warmth.
Henry VIII well known for being corpulent suddenly today would be slim, a big touch of PC perhaps.
So is Elizaeth still Queen in this modern day portrayal, if so I don't think she'd dress this way.
The Nelson portrayal is the only one that made sense to me.
Why is Shakespeare portrayed as an effeminate urban hipster? I'm sure modern day Billy would also be an avowed Marxist, drinker of "fair trade" coffee and Occupy protester. Boy I want to give him an ass-kicking.
Good grief.
I found this interesting, but Lord Nelson was the only one that looked right. The notion that Henry's vanity would have caused him to remain sleek is wrong. His vanity was the reason that he thought he looked fine even as he needed help to get onto his horse. Elizabeth was a queen, not some banker. Marie Antoinette was silly and vain (though she was misrepresented by those who had their political reasons) but I doubt that she worried much about her "high" forehead (which didn't seem all that high to me). Shakespeare? I don't see him as a fop at all. He was far too clever for that. He knew his worth and didn't have to dress or act the fool for attention.
"I don't think Shakespeare looks like a spaz. He looks a bit foppish (it's the hair), but intelligent."
Well then why is his shirt-collar tucked underneath his vest? Hands up everyone who wants to give Shakespeare a wedgie.
I love what Queen Elizabeth is wearing. I am grieved, however, to have contributed in my small way to disappointing 454guy so badly :-(
Prithee, Black Mamba, don't hold yourself responsible for the fact that 454guy is PMSing.
As Jesus himself said, "the po-faced you will always have with you."
Something like that anyway.
It distressed me when I first thought Shakespeare looked a bit like the Shiny Pony but then remembered that JT was only a part-time drama teacher and one-time actor.
Rita, wrt Henry VIII, the valuing of and obsession with thinness is a relatively recent phenomenon, but in those days corpulence - a certain degree of it anyway -- was seen as a sign of prosperity and well-being.
Point is, if Henry was alive today I wouldn't be surprised - given his overarching arrogance - if he had a personal trainer, or…liposuction.
EBD, he might also have stuffed himself in a Spanx.
I had to look that word up, but yes, I think you're right.
:>)
Shakespeare looks funny :P omg. Cool post ideas!
