About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Kate, there's some more to this story. See the NP article which I posted on reader tips last night:
http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/05/05/bridal-store-faces-backlash-after-transgendered-customer-not-allowed-to-try-on-gown/
She/he is going to lodge a complaint with the human rights commission.
Love the title of your post.
Well, at least we don't have to worry about them breeding...6jt3kv
Based on the photo, Rohit Singh Peace might wish to shave a little more closely next time before entering Jenny’s Bridal Boutique, or Victoria's Secret for that matter.
"Mappin said a major misperception is that “transgender” indicates sexual preference. Mappin said it’s about gender identity and “perceived gender.”
Excellent point to consider...
Hmmmmmm......
Ewwwww! Either way....
OMGG - what's next, Liberals and Dippers claiming Handicap parking permits due to their obvious mental handicap?
A good friend had a hip replacement and during his recovery (18 weeks on crutches, they wouldn't give him a temporary handicap parking permit so I drove him to all his appointments and shoping trips - but if he was a politically privileged identity group, well, the world is open to his accommodation.
Ha - I feel like a billionaire trapped in a middle class life - I demand $$$$$$.
There is no right to not being discriminated against. Case dismissed.
Burma Shave.
Who sleeps on top?
Apparently not all of Canada's freaks have moved to Toronto.
I guess there are some things you CAN choose.
So they got service elsewhere...what exactly is the problem? The solution, it seems to me, would be to pass the word that this shop doesn't service trans, and move on. Oh wait, that wouldn't make any sense at all would it?
Now if the male half of this pair had dressed as a woman I'm sure no one would have noticed.
This is another one of those Human Rights LGBT set-up jobs and the HRC should recognize it as such. They're the ones who have to put a stop to this nonsense.
BTW: What is the pop of Saskatoon? Nearly 100 turned up (which means all the LGBT community)so I guess we're back to under the 10% figure again.
My wife always parks in the "expectant mothers" spot. I feel sorry for anyone who calls her on it.
That's a downside of our economic growth - they are moving here from Toronto.
I understand that one's DNA remains the same for the duration of one's life, yet the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix and National Post both refer to this person denied opportunity to try a women's dress on as a "her" and I'm just wondering if that's a typo error? or is this intentional? I understand the Supreme Court of Canada no longer regards truth as a defense. Does this relate to sewing a pigs ear into a silk purse? It may look like a silk purse, but I'm thinking that under all that, some folks are still going know there's horse meat mixed into that cow meat, and I thought that was against the law? So If I'm mistaken here and not seeing it for what it is, what exactly is the offense? I'd like an answer to these questions, it's ok to ask questions isn't it? certainly our overlords have thought things through to their ends? no?
I've seen this before, (is it an error? or accurate reportage?) in other news articles that mention for example, Sonny & Cher's daughter. If she killed someone and had left a spot of DNA on the kitchen knife, while the police combed the country for the murderer would they be looking for a woman? or a man?
I'm wondering if the feminists that have overrun the "justice" departments in Canada are prepared for the onslaught of "new women" fighting for child custody. In the view of the above mentioned news outlets, (& I've not bothered to check the usual culprits in this sort of thing at the Globe & Mail or Torstar) will they be choosing a side in the woman vs "new" woman fight to control who gains secure and forever custody of the children of marriage? How long will it be until the Supreme Court of Canada settles this issue?
We are past the point of celebrating diversity. We are well into celebrating mental illness and sane opinions are no longer welcome in the MSM.
The National Post article quotes rally organiser Miki Mappin saying, "“She was radiant. She was just beautiful" but the bride still looks like a lightly built brown man in a dress, so it reminds me of Eric Idle's character Loretta in Life of Brian - "It's symbolic of his struggle against reality"
Why would she do that? Can't be bothered to walk a few extra feet?
Do Rohit Singh's parents know she's a woman? They may be arranging a marriage for her right now.
If its only a few other feet, NP. If its a parking spot that's open just waiting for someone who might be pregnant, forget it. Who's to say she isn't? Does she need to provide a sonogram or something?
"Where's the foetus gonna gestate? In a box?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFBOQzSk14c
That's actually not a bad idea. Those spaces are always empty anyway. Handicapped would be trickier. I'd need to fake a limp or something.
I feel like a woman therefore I am, it's total rubbish gender identity disorders are mental health issues not consumer issues and I feel not a modicum of empathy for him.
I can't recall the source but I read that s/h/it went to several other dress shops (and not just the one) and was served at all of the others making this look, massively, like s/h/it was looking to be offended on purpose to bring a claim to the HRC.
Does this mean I can go to a Veterinarian and seek medical treatment under the pretext that I am trans-specied?
I could claim to be a gorilla. I could even dress up as one. I could even provide some back-up evidence. There is no shortage of women I've dated who have said: "Get your hands off of me, you big ape!" If the Vet objects I could file a complaint accusing him of speciesism.
In case you think an accusation of speciesism is too bizarre, go to BBC-Ethics and you will find this:
"The ethics of speciesism. This article explains speciesism, an attitude that is common among both humans and non-human animals." The article goes on to quote Pete Singer: "...a prejudice or bias in favour of the interests of members of one's own species and against those of members of other species."
Wow! Even non-human animals are capable of animal bigotry. And if they have sufficient moral agency to be be bigots, who knows what else thay might be capable of? Lawyers and Heads of Human Rights Commissions would salivate at the prospects for new cases. And consider the possibilities if we sprinkle a little Sharia Law into the mix.
You may not be interested in 13th century jurisprudence but 13th century jurisprudence already has a foot in the door and it is interested in you.
I would have shown her to the Burka section... "Now, here's a nice one, covers everything!"
It doesn't matter whether the "Expectant Mothers" and "Handicapped" spots are always empty or not. They are there for those particular people who may have difficulties walking distances to the store, especially in bad weather or in winter. No one is asking for a sonogram, simple honesty is adequate. As far as handicapped spots go, it definitely is trickier. A blue windshield tag is required. I take down licence numbers and call the police if I see a vehicle without a tag in a handicapped spot.
But seriously, Albert, why are they always empty? I mean, it's sort of an interesting question, isn't it?
And in all honesty, I know a couple of old sods who have no difficulty walking but have managed to finangle themselves those stickers.
Albert, I seldom see cars without stickers in handicapped spots. What I do see frequently, however, is clearly able bodied people with the appropriate tag using the handicapped parking spots. Do you report these vehicles to the police as well?
What a lovely couple. They will make great neighbors :)
Well, he does have a purdy mouth.
if the groom is gay and likes his bride who wants to be a girl then is the groom gay? but if they are both gay and the bride wants to be a female does the groom also have to be a female? help i am confused.
I hope the women don't mind this guy using their washroom, because it was a preponderance of women voting for lib/lefties and their political appointees that brought this foolishness upon us (not that there aren't enough men to share the blame as well). And I especially hope that those who support it won't have a problem with this guy sharing the locker room with their thirteen-year old daughter.
This has "HRC shakedown" written all over it. That he was able to be served at other bridal boutiques won't matter. As I've said before, the HRCs cannot conceive of two people simply deciding to have nothing to do with each other. And when these two screwballs decide they want to play house with a kid, what are the odds some poor child will be offered up as a sacrifice to the politically correct social engineering project, long term consequences for said child be damned? Libs have no problem hurting others so long as those others can't fight back.
Spike, I wouldn't report those vehicles, there's no point. You however, frequently see able bodied people with the appropriate tag using handicapped parking spots. Does it bother you? if so, what do you do about it? Complain to me?
Reminds me of Johnny Cash and the song about the 49-59-69 Cadillac. Looks he or she needs an "Adapt--O--kit." The bolt holes don't seem to line up!!
What I don't see in the comments is a recognition of the underlying assumption about transsexuality: that there is no such thing as biological identity.
And if there is no such thing as biological identity then what is to stop anyone from claiming they can be another species? The logic of it is the same.
This is only part of the pre-scientific medieval mindset that permeates left wing political theory.
The newspaper accounts refer to this person as "she". She? Really? She has a heavier beard than I do.
She?
Yeah, riiiiiiight!
