Grasshopper à la mode with chocolate syrup.

And since the convergence of events between 18th century France and the current global situation is becoming too close for comfort, we can now predict that at some point soon, a member of the New Normal aristocracy will announce: "Let them eat insects."

I wonder. If you made compost from executed enviro-parasites, could you get something of value out of it?

You know, earthworms? A mulch for cabbage?

When they say "insects",do they mean any insect,or just Disney-fied ones like grasshoppers?

I mean, the world food shortage could be ended tomorrow if "the poor" could nosh on cockroaches, which are easily raised, even in cities,well.... especially in cities.

The ad campaign can have the famous Mexican musical number "La cucaracha" playing as background music, while one of the "beautiful people" extols the virtues of this heretofore reviled creature, now the saviour of mankind.

They already have, unfortunately this discrimination against our insectiod friends must stop immediately.
As an old school omnivore I much prefer vegetarians as my protein source.
Careful observations of your local vegetarian herds will pay off handsomely, if our normal supply lines are disrupted.
Eat locally indeed.

Next up: a UN report extolling the virtues of Soylent Green.

"The McMantis Value Meal" - that's the best! LOL

Coming soon, insect hunting licenses.

Bugs are too high up the food chain. Yeasts and bacteria are the way to go. Spirulina can be grown in a soup of any bio-material that's available. Any. Bio. Material. Including poo, dead bodies, leaf mulch, horse hooves, et cetera. Even oil.

Soylent Green anyone?

F-ing Lefties are so f-ing predictable, they've been selling this "eat bugs" horse-hockey since forever. Harry Harrison wrote "Make Room, Make Room!" in 1966, based on some really STUPID science on protein concentration that I was later forced to study in the 1970's as an Anthropology major.

Lefties just LOVE this idea. See, its just so efficient. Why farm when you can stack tenements of humanity up two hundred stories in the air and make food out of their wastes, plus a steady supply of natural gas? All the nassssty human masses get locked in geographically small mega-urbs, and their economic output gets enjoyed by the benevolent leaders who live in the rest of the world which is really nice and all natural. Because the odd mansion doesn't really put much of a burden on the environment, does it?

Algore has dreams about this, I'm sure.

Keep voting socialist, you could be eating bugs and slime in an apartment the size of a small closet in under thirty years.

Queen Maria Antonia has had something of a bad rap. She probably didn't say, "let them eat cake", a remark which BTW is not known in France. She may have mentioned some kind of baked product which was known as "poor man's bread." She was spoiled, no doubt, but her parents did not expect her to be queen of anything, so she was not educated for the role. The Austrian court was informal in its private moments, whereas the French court was icily formal. Her family were conscientious rulers. I think all of them would be appalled at the coarse indifference of our modern "elites" (whether US or European) to the welfare of those they rule. I doubt that anyone in the Austrian court would casually and callously throw away lives for their mere convenience as the Hillary has done, or the Foulness in Chief. Above all, the 18th century royalty and aristocrats were Christian, quite often very devout Christian. It is extremely unlikely that they would have advocated eating insects!

Actually the quotation is a function of bad translation. What she was referring to was the burned-on stuff caked inside bread bakery ovens.

"I think all of them would be appalled at the coarse indifference of our modern "elites" (whether US or European) to the welfare of those they rule."

Wrong. The peasantry were not regarded as human beings worthy of the same regard as the aristocracy. They were regarded as animals who happened to possess souls. For example, it was the custom among the aristocracy always to refer to a servant in the third person even when directly being given instruction.

You are right that Marie Antoinette was no better and no worse than the general run of the mill aristocrat. She simply happened to be present when the butcher's bill for centuries of abuse was presented for payment.

To name only two pests that make good eating, why does no one ever mention Canada Geese and rabbits? And that's only two of a long list.

Within the global elite socialist continuum, which has essentially bankrupt the west and looted its productivity, the call for universal "austerity" has been a common policy initiative for the international political aristocracy for some time. The UN simply personifies their penchant for predictive conditioning - the venue in which they float the agendas they have been planning.

You have to understand that the global elite (the super class who run the international policy tanks) and the political aristocracy have been targeting our diets for some time. They have used the guise of anti-obesity and green/carbon responsible eating etc. to persuade us to move from amino-protein rich diets to lesser robust meatless/no dairy diets which compromise growth, strength and immunity (and will ultimately take land out of food production so it can be "annexed" as a "carbon sink"). What the Romans and other patrician class societies referred to as a "slave diet" is being sold as a "healthy environmentally responsible" diet by global political forces. (ref UN Agenda 21)

Protein rich diets (from animal sources) promote rich blood production, strength, and cell repair - diets with clean unadulterated heritage garden crops, seeds, nuts, grains and naturally fed meats and dairy give the essential elements and minerals in natural form - combined this omnivore diet of pure foods gives full balanced nutrition. This is no longer a "politically correct" (or cost effective) diet. It's easier to buy green friendly PETA diet crap or corporate farmed junk food.

In the era of slavery and serfdom the slave owner couldn't have the slaves strong enough for revolt, or growing large like the well fed ruling elite or warrior class. Slave diets were perfected over centuries by the slave owning class to keep them alive and useful enough for work but to never gain the strength, mental capacity, passion or size needed for physical conflict - and to die before they were a burden in old age.

Slaves were also only allowed to breed only as it suited the slave owning class - can't have too many slaves (shades of modern technocratic global birth control). The slave diet mutated into a way for landlords and aristocracy to control serfs. Feudal aristocracy made certain nutrition was limited to the serf class through taxation and game laws - this worked so well that there was a physical difference between lower classes (smaller bandy-legged people) and the (normal sized) aristocracy - it was a matter of rationed nutrition. Global socialism is about central control and rationing of resources and you have to know that every good socialist technocrat knows that food is first, and primarily, a control tool or, if need be, a weapon.

Imagine what size and physical/mental properties a few generations of humans fed a diet of insects and grass may have. This is globalist technocratic creepiness in the raw.

What you are stating in effect is that the new aristocracy is attempting to undo 1776 and 1789 by converting The People to The Livestock. The pushback by the aristocracy is manifest in many different ways:
1. Restrictions on flight to ensure that the peasantry doesn't clutter up the vacation spots of the elite.
2. Restrictions on automobiles to reduce physical personal mobility.
3. Teaching worthless pablum in schools to ensure the livestock don't get ideas above their heads.
4. Drive up costs of staples like electricity to reduce disposable income and hence family size.

And above all, disarm the population so that it can't rise up when the tyranny becomes overbearing and do a Robespierre on their a$$es.

Welcome to Plato's Republic.

And yet I am intrigued. I have heard a lot of good things about grasshoppers as food. I'd try it, not to be eco-sensitive, but just 'cause it could be fun.

I don't think it's a bad idea. Insects have lots of protein.

cgh - it is an "attempt" which has been so far relatively successful. One of rolling back the power of the middle class, in consumerism, politics, economics, justice and ability to be independent of government controlled systems - replacing it with dependency on an omnipotent global-based socialist authoritarian neo-feudalism run by a small political/corporate/financial elite. Most politicians are socialist. Most buy into the global governance meme. Global socialism is all about centralizing power, resource control and wealth in a small group. It is the merger of socialist statism and corporate monopoly. Poor deluded lefty on the street or campus, is absolutely unaware of this deception as he becomes a willing foot soldier in his own enslavement to a anti-humanist technocratic tyranny.

We see this daily. We see how our government's mindset has changed from servant to master. We see how the markets are dysfunctional and capitalism has become monopoly or oligopoly. We see government involved in markets and with corporations at an incestuous level. We see governments purposely militarizing police, disarming and disempowering the citizen - we lose core rights on a daily basis at an alarming rate. Our economic independence and future is deteriorating. We have less control over where we can go, or what we can eat or even what we may believe in.

I think globalism has done pretty good at taming the freedom, prosperity and independence of the western capitalist free market democracies - we are now in stage 2 as we descend into forced austerity and the increased martial control systems that go with this - all as a result of insanely calamitous mismanagement of our socialist governments. They have broken us and now they will bring us to our knees in forced austerity. Then the big saviour will step in - global central bank, unified currency, global government and single currency and party will save us from this long term suffering - all they want is to do what they do with no democratic oversight, we must disarm and pool our remaining private wealth and give it to the "saviours". Utopia is the promise - but once we are disarmed and fully dependent things will get really brutal.

But there is hope, people are waking up and resisting blind authoritarianism, we rolled back UN gun confiscation here, Iceland and some European nations have cut themselves loose from the IMF extortion and Americans are buying gold and guns and growing or storing food. Every one is getting tired of government and ruling class corruption and overreach - but the one thing we can never allow is government control of our food quality or diet or become dependent upon government regulated food supply chains. Food is a devastating weapon - ask Stalin or a Ukrainian if you can resist tyranny with no food in your belly.

As it is now, government has all the regulatory and supply management systems in place to starve off anyone they deem a menace. Judging by the trend in the US federal government to attack political dissent with any mechanism at its disposal, this is a time bomb situation. Will food stamps or food regulating be the next tool for attacking dissent? There have been many many reported cases of government going after individuals for "food hording" or food production outside their control grid. Think about it.

"The peasantry were not regarded as human beings worthy of the same regard as the aristocracy. They were regarded as animals who happened to possess souls. " Quite so. My point is that Hillary et al. do not think us worthy of the same regard as their circle. "As flies to wanton boys/Are we to the . They kill us for their sport." Nor do they think that we have souls.

It is appalling.

Yeah like I said, Lefties LOVE this idea. For -other- people, preferably poor busted-@$$ brown/ people to eat, but not them.

You first, Lassie. Let us know how the Junebug puree tastes. I'm having chicken for dinner. Mmmmm, crisssspy chicken...

The people in the overpopulated 3rd world mega-slums can eat bugs;
that should solve more than one problem.

Yuppers. Right on time one leftard shows up defending its own(Marie)and the Leftards are Stupid pipes in.Damn.Hey Phantom. Any popcorn? I ran out.

Well, I am a little late this evening, but just to put some perspective on this eating insects. During the drought assisted man made famine in 1921-22, my family and my wife's family ate bugs, rodents and plants you would not touch just to stay alive.

The progressive left would just love to have those that are less equal eat insects.

Beef has more.
