I hear from recent debates on the Second Ammendment that '90%' is some sort of magic number. I'd say 90% of the commentators here have little sympathy for how AP is whinging about this national security issue.
Won't they think of the children? It's only a small limitation. I mean, do you really need to have unfettered access to your communications? Wouldn't say, ten hours only be more than sufficient?
And come on, registering your informants with the gov't isn't tantamount to banning them. That's just clouding the debate, after all, you register your weddings.

Probably the residue of the Gulag is still there. Although Vladimir Putin dislikes the Washington Foulness, he might be amenable to opening up a camp or two, if the US journalists really really want to try it out.
AP = Useful Idiots. The first to be disposed of under a tyrannical Marxist regime.
Agreed, though I'd prefer those Roman arena punishments involving large male animals and journalists. And we're so far beyond the "..then they came for the $N" stage that I'm content watching it all burn.
Ya know....ever' time I hear 90%....my BS meter goes off.....
It's not magic...it's BS!
According to Maobama and the Hildebeast....90% of the firearms in Mexico originated in the US gun-stores.....
Then according to the usual suspects...90% favoured an "assault weapon ban".....then 90% favoured a ban on "high capacity 'Clips'".........then 90% favoured the background checks...90% favoured a national firearms registry....
At various times apparently, according to the usual suspects, 90% believed in CO2 AGW and favoured cap and trade etc......
From the link: ...— and they say such an intrusion could chill their relationships with confidential sources.
Obama Administration: Mission Accomplished !
.
You take in a rattlesnake in and tell everyone it's a unicorn, you still end up with a rattler in your house. I'm outraged that the Obama crime cartel has gone this far in its assault on the constitution - now violating the 1st amendment and press freedom, but I find I have no sympathy for the fools at AP who aided in smuggling in the snake that has now bitten them.
Regardless of what happens to Obama and his crew legally, he has now lost all credibility and the moral right to govern. It's senate's hands now as to whether they allow this lame duck do anything more than go to the bathroom without their over sight.
were wuz AP on that voter intimidation thing back in 08????
If you believe that the writers of the 2nd Amendment couldn't possible have meant to protect AR-15's and hand guns, but the writers of the 1st Amendment totally meant to protect wire services and cell phone conversations, you might be a Liberal.
90%? I did not see any sympathy for AP at all.
LOL at the comparison between AP whining about 1st amendments and their BS justifications for curtailing 2nd amendment rights.
Buy bulk popcorn, Team Zero has lost control and are spinning so fast they do not know what they are saying, any minute now they will start telling the truth.
Purely by accident of course, its just that when a serial liar is flummoxed, the only thing they can remember is the words they must not speak.
But these "VIPs" must speak, their vanity demands it, so they will blurt out the truth.
Listen carefully.
The press wants to be part of the power block, not subject to the power block.
There will be lasting widespread consequences for Team Obama treating AP like this, schadenfreude or not.
"AP is whinging about this"
~lance
I'm seeing this strange spelling lately.
What does 'whinging' mean? Is it anything like whining?
What's with the ing-ing thing going on after the 'wh'?
The root word is whine, yes? How comes the extraneous 'g'?
Does one affect a fakey British accent when one speaks this word?
Not at all Oz. The simple excuse is that I'm illiterate and my spell check is broken. :)
My mistake. Oh well, carry on as if you were normal then.

@Occam -- 9:56 PM: ...he has now lost all credibility and the moral right to govern.
I don't think so. The Blacks will still support the Zero at around 99% and dust off the race-card to boot. The Liberal/Progressives, aka 'useful idiots', will stand by their man as well. They'll be out in the streets screaming about how mean and unfair this all is for the 'Won'.
.
"The press wants to be part of the power block, not subject to the power block."
Yeah, this may be a tipping point.
There is an old sayin'...."don't mess with folks who buy ink by the barrel".......
Then there is another...."Don't mess witth Texas...."
Interesting development.
Here's the definition of whinge: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/whinge
BTW, It's Aussies who like to use the expression "whinging pommy bastards" as a derogatory reference to ex-pat Brits, usually with good reason.
Lance makes a great - and funny, and dry - point about AP's hypocrisy/inconsistency vis-à-vis First vs. Second Amendment rights, but the bigger issue (and I think it's lance's point, between the lines) is that just as AP's (and others') arguments against Second Amendment rights don't hold water, neither do the arguments of those who might say "well, AP's reporting is on the other side of the spectrum from my own political beliefs, so boo-boo for them if the government taps their phone lines to see who's providing them with information."
That sort of….limbic-system-heavy attitude is incredibly shortsighted and dumb, especially in the current political climate.
The whole schadenfreude-ish "well, they want to take away my right to bear arms, so it's okay to take away their right to free speech" is what you call yer basic bad thinkin'.
It's a misspelling of whine.
That some people have been misspelling it since the 12th century does in no way legitimize it.
So states the "Spelling Luddite" Oz.
Why not simply accept that both 1st and 2nd amendments are there for a purpose, and NOT limit the right to self defense, NOT limit freedom of speech?
Obama has elected to limit both, which hopefully might wake up the American people to the disaster he is.
Luddite: -one who opposes technological change.
So you just want to call me names, eh?
That misspelling of whine has been going on for over 7 centuries and still hasn't found common usage in the Anglosphere.
Go ahead and logically justify the additional 'g' in the misspelling.
I'll check back to see if you're anything other than a boor.
Here are English words with a silent 'g'.
-benign, design, feign, reign, sign, campaign, foreign
None are spelled 'ing', they are all spelled 'ign'.
A dyslexic might throw a silent 'g' into the wrong place like that but would repair the error if it were pointed out.
I'm not entirely certain why this struck me as the best line of the entire article, but there you have it:
"The AP employees interviewed by POLITICO did not want to be identified because, according to several sources, at least some journalists have been asked not to speak to the news media."
Oz, the g is not silent. "Whinge" is a real word and, with unintended irony, you have been illustrating it.
Personally, I think the liberals at AP were warned that this government attack on them was going to happen. At every warning, scorn was heaped upon the author by AP and every other media outlet in the Western world. "It can NEVER happen here!!!"
Now that the inevitable has finally happened, and they're crying and moaning about it, what they really need is a punch in the face. With brass knuckles.
HEY LIBERALS!!! Shut the moaning and the whinging you disgusting bunch of hipster puss1es, and cowboy the h3ll up.
Here you go, A-hole:
http://www.bing.com/search?q=whinge+sound&src=ie9tr
Gee, do a search and the 'g' is silent.
I'd like to meet you in person stewie, really.
But I love the word "whinge", Oz. It is such a useful and evocative word, combining "cringe" with "whine". The "g" isn't silent at all.
Imagine a teenager (or emotionally equivalent adult) who is told he/she/it can't do or have something. Head down, shoulders raised as if expecting a blow, eyes often closed, and a moaning "Aaawh" describes a whinge, not a whine.
Whining is the "But, that's not fair!/ they cheated!/ everyone else gets to do it!/ I didn't start it!" -usually proclaimed in a higher than normal voice.
Can't we keep them both as useful?
