    They are on the 3 London terrorists and are mentioning islam. They are on the ‘tax haven’ case and mentioned Liberal.
    Tonight they have an article up about natives in a Winnipeg hotel and their outrageous spending from our wallets.
    The CBC has an actual bill up for ‘snacks’ from a pizza joint. This is over and above the daily meals for these people. $1,800 dollars for pizza,wings,dainties,etc to ease the munchies of flood evacuees from a flood a couple of years ago. A million dollars in 8 months.

    The restaurant has since totally renovated their premises. I think that they should be totally boycotted by taxpayers.

  12. Caveat Depositor: Be sure and review all of your accounts. Make sure that whatever your deposits or investments are in that they are fully insured by the FDIC rules. $100,000 per account. Only some investments are covered by FDIC Insurance. For example Mutual Funds are not covered by FDIC, Bonds are not covered by FDIC, etc. Be sure and read carefully because Ottawa will probably implement these new rules in this budget this year. It is spelled out in Ottawa’s new budget for this year. We mostly escaped it here in Machynlleth owing to being only ten miles from the coast and just a few metres above sea-level. Inland, or at height, it was a very different story.
    The synoptic situation is illustrated in the two charts below. The top one shows surface air pressure and the bottom one the position of the Polar Jetstream. What is amazing in the top chart is the strength of the blocking high pressure over Greenland, at 1065mb. The block extends well out towards Scandinavia. The jetstream chart shows the Polar Jet to be well south of its usual position (a familiar theme in recent years?), diving through Iberia into the Mediterranean countries. This time last year it was well to the north of the UK, giving shorts-and-t-shirts weather. This year? Everything is in the ‘wrong’ place. Problems began as a deep area of low pressure approached the western UK, bringing moisture in copious quantities – enough to cause serious flooding and deadly landslides in the SW, accompanied by strengthening south-east winds. On the night of Thursday 21st, a gale was rising here in Machynlleth. Then, as the fronts nudged north-east they met the dense cold air resident over the rest of the country and ground to a halt. The rain turned readily to snow and the south-easterly gale guaranteed drifting: the persistence of the snowfall, from the 22nd through to the 24th, ensured plenty of the white stuff for the wind to get to work on. The result, for some – mayhem.”

  18. Black Mamba, I feel your pain (tilts head, bites lower lip thoughtfully). Here’s the explanation (it’s not an excuse, because there is no excuse) which I hope will go a long way to putting your mind at ease:
    I was away from home for five or six days last week. Since I knew I wouldn’t have time to look for Tips videos while I was on my spree, I wrote a series of posts in advance so I could publish them at a click from my super-secret, undisclosed location. As it turns out, the new publishing platform displays, at the top of the comments page only, the date on which the post was written, not that on which it was published, although, it must be noted, both the main page time-stamp and the date underneath the post on the comments page are displayed correctly.
    I found out last night that there is an easy way to prevent any subsequent recurrence of this highly disorienting date stamp problem, but it entails taking a particular action at the time the post is saved prior to publishing. The only after-the-fact remedy, which would entail deleting the originally published post and then republishing it, would come at a very heavy price: the loss of all the delightful comments, including yours, under the previously published mis-dated thread in question.
    The fact that I can’t bear the thought of doing that means that you, an innocent bystander, will have to continue to bear the weight of the temporal disorientation, and the resulting anguish, created by last night’s mis-dated thread.
    In the unlikely event that another thread is mis-dated, you can expedite the healing process by checking your computer for the correct date, glancing at other posts on the main page and noting the preponderance of certain dates as a form of emotional reassurance, checking the day and date on newspapers, and/or asking helpful friends and relatives what month and day it is.
    As for me, I am in the process of seeking professional help to try to relieve the shame and guilt I feel over having caused you such distressful temporal disorientation.
    I think we both need some time off, in the aftermath of this troubling incident, to deal with the emotional/temporal confusion.
    Let the healing begin. Keep hope alive.
