  1. CNN is investigating the dirty, dark secret of Silicon Valley: it’s a meritocracy (“…the biggest obstacle, according to industry experts, is that few are talking about the problem”). They catalogue their repeated FOIA requests to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in their attempt to expose this vile practice, and quote law professor John Sims, who backs up CNN’s concern:

    “Tech is the most vibrant sector of the American economy, and rather than trying to fix problems, they want to keep secrets.”

    The “problem” he refers to, of course, is the proclivity of Silicon Valley tech companies to hire the best and most capable applicants regardless of race or gender.

  2. Kate – when I lived in Saskatoon I did small business training and I had one guy – Calvin?? who started a business exactly like this. He called it “Helpers” and you could call one number and get someone to come and fix anything. Don’t know how he did – was a great guy.

    A prison source say the beard James Holmes sported in court last months represents his new-found faith. The source said Mr. Holmes has turned Muslim as a way of justifying his horrific crimes on July 20 which left 12 people dead and 58 people wounded, the Daily Mail reports.
    “He has brainwashed himself into believing he was on his own personal jihad and that his victims were infidels,” the source told the National Enquirer.

    Canadians who are concerned about government seizure of private bank accounts in time of “crisis” should be aware the Federal government has had statutes on the books to “Cyprus” private bank accounts for some time – and they already do it routinely now for tax, fines, POC indictments and civil judgements. Canada is way ahead of the curve in applying globalist banking policy

  28. EBD, thank you for posting that link to the serious “crisis” in silicon valley. It’s stupidity like this that’s making the USSA into a third world country. The concept of “diversity” is one of the most idiotic ideas to come about in recent times and is born of the assumption that peoples brains are identical except they have different colored meatware exteriors. The presence of primarily white and asian males in meritocratic companies correlates highly with the IQ’s of this population and presumably there’s an over-representation of Jews in the white workers in silicon valley; given the higher IQ’s of Japanese and Chinese, one would expect the engineers to be almost exclusively oriental.
    In the case of engineering and scientific professions, there’s a high correlation between the average IQ of the individuals in a given profession and the percentage of white/asian males. Women are not particularly interested in engineering and I have known no female chipheads/hackers during my over 40 years of programming. Males seem to be almost unique in having the necessary obsessive traits to interact with hardware and compulsion to program/hardware hack until they collapse from exhaustion or lack of sleep. Females jobs, in the case of those hackers who have normal heterosexual relationships, involve distracting the men from their total obsession with hardware/programming. My wife never understood my total concentration on a programming project and went so far as to describe my state during that time as “psychotic”.
    Blacks have lower IQ’s than whites and hence there will be far fewer black engineers than white engineers. The technology sector is that last possible place where I want to see affirmative action as it’s the last true meritocracy in existence in the US. Perhaps CNN should spend their time dealing with the horrendous lack of “diversity” in the NBA and campaigning for quotas on NBA players which are representative the US population. Once they’ve finished with the NBA, they can start on the NFL and all of the various boxing organizations who have an unhealthy under-representation of white males and white women. There’s absolutely no reason why a 90 lb white woman shouldn’t be allowed to go up against Ian Tyson, or if the sexual separation in boxing is upheld, then the number of Chinese boxers needs to be drastically increased.

  29. This thread certainly struck a chord with me.
    Engaged a contractor almost 2 years ago for some modest exterior home improvements.
    After a year’s delay the project started but soon went off the rails and is incomplete as I write.
    When I pointed out some issues the excuses began. Initially: “It is what it is” to “It’ll fix itself” and most recently to “It’s an optical illusion.”
    Suffice to say he’s off the job. Sadly no other contractor I’ve contacted is willing to re-mediate the problems – they can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear.
    Should have known – “Trust, but verify.”
