I really don’t understand why the US, in general, is so concerned about peace in the M.East. Every president since Kennedy has mucked about in the region, usually creating more problems than they fix. These are the people who can’t get bipartisan support from their adversaries in their own political system and the world is supposed to give a damn about what the US thinks about the Middle East? It changes every four years.
Know your allies, support your allies, and then shut up, already.
Americans and Canadians are living in the same century. Israel is in the 21st and the Palestinians are in the 7th. A bit of a difference.

The propaganda machine is softening up public opinion, and the domestic friends of Israel are under attack as well.

Their meddling has made the situation worse and the Obama administration is the most hostile to Israel. All normal sane people prefer peace to war, especially Israelis, but you cannot achieve peace with an enemy not interested in peace and whose sole goal is to wipe you off the face of the earth. Yet not a single American president has demanded that the Arabs cease their attacks and terrorism as a condition for peace talks. No country needs such an “ally”.
Problem is that Obozo’s friends in the ME are Islamists.

Another problem with his comparison is that all the wars between Canada and the US were conducted by uniformed soldiers who would never target women and children. So if North America is analogous to Israel-Palestine who is Obama saying is equivalent to the baby-killing Palestinians, the USA or Canada?

Beyond that, let’s be honest — the Americans don’t really care about anything in the “Middle East” that doesn’t involve oil. We got involved in Libya ’cause they had oil, and we are sitting out Syria ’cause they don’t (and so far, haven’t attacked Israel in this round). We didn’t care about Saddam until he tried to capture 45% of the world’s oil reserves.
And quite frankly, the case is often made that “we need friends in the middle east”, ie, Israel and Egypt, ’cause of the oil.

Israel’s treatment of Palestinians is unfair. That’s all there is to it. There is no denying the fact that tens of thousands of them were driven off of their land by people coming in from other parts of Europe and the US. Imagine if the Natives, who actually DO have a claim to the land you are on, suddenly managed to displace you? If that happened to you guys, you’d have your little guns out in a minute, so don’t pretend it’s not true. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again—if Obama were serious about bringing peace in the Middle East and about Israel being America’s ally, he knows very well that the United States have enough nuclear weapons to end the Islamic threat to civilization at once and forever, and restore the Israelites at last to the whole of their inheritance—a vast domain stretching from the Nile to the Tigris. All Obama would have to do is give the order and his place in history would be as great as Cyrus, if not greater.
As for the threat of Islam at home, all Obama would have to do is follow the example of King Xerxes, and withdraw the protection of American law from the enemies of the Jews, Muslims and leftists alike, and allow American Jews and Christians carte blanche to put them down at will.
Of course, Obama will not do any of this. Figuring out that there will be no peace in the Middle East until Israel’s enemies are vanquished would involve cracking open a Bible and reading it carefully for something other than quotations useful for fine speeches. He has told himself, like all fools, that there is no God, the Bible is a book of fairy tales with Moses being about as historical a personage as Finn MacCool or Gandalf. To his mind, the political problem that he needs to solve to keep his throne are not the menaces of banksterism and communism within the realm and the menace of Islam without, but the troublemaking of the children of Israel and of the plain people of America who fear the God of Israel, take the Law, Prophets and Gospels seriously, and still insist God’s command and plan for Israel be respected, lest a fate worse than Sodom’s befall them.
As for Israel, she knows exactly how many allies she has, namely none at all. She never has had allies among human princes, and has never needed them. First of all, as many others have noted, Israel is a 21st century state whereas the illiterate and depraved palis are firmly stuck in the 7th century. Canada and the US have been at equal levels of development for their whole shared history although currently the US is heading more in the direction of the 7th century than the 21st.
