I think a good question to ask would be “If Nixon had this technology, would it have been lawful for him to use it against the Weathermen?”
They’d declared war on the US, were engaged in terrorist actions, and were deadly to law-enforcement officials.

Notice he was immediately backstabbed by big-government loving McCain and Graham (and probably others).

Good one grok. I’ve had CBCNN on in the background yesterday and this morning. No mention of Rand Paul but one piece on Eric Holder’s justification for suspension of due process. Imminent threat and good intentions don’t cha know…
Not to worry. The MSM is busy reporting Rand’s fillibuster as a protest against Brennan’s appointment – oh, and there’s something about using drones on terrorists, as well.
Go back to sleep, and ignore that buzzing sound you hear near your cieling.
Thing is, I think a lot of US conservatives are just fine with the President or even the military doing basically whatever he/they want, whenever they want. As sad as it is, men like McCain and Graham are for more representative of the Republican party than Rand Paul and Mike Lee.
There’s a few reasons for this but one of them is that they know one day a guy in a red shirt will be in charge and they want him to have unfettered discretion to carry out their preferred policies. Military or otherwise.
Also, I can’t help but think these guys are ticked that Rand Paul: called them out and accomplished more in one day than these two have in a decade.
Thank you SDA. It is always great to see our wonderful Canadian neighbors hashing it out like we do down here in the States. So many great insights and comments. It really was about the 5th amendment, the Executive Branch has been getting away with so many questionable activities that a Senator with backbone finally stood up and did the right thing.
