  1. Ad the Shiny Pony, on the verge of his Coronation, loses a major part of his propaganda machine.
    Priceless.

  2. In related shadenfreude news . . . $1.2 billion in damages
“Special Report: Did Diane Sawyer smear “pink slime”?”
“The meat company was the leading maker of “lean finely textured beef,” a low-fat product made from chunks of beef, including trimmings, and exposed to tiny bursts of ammonium hydroxide to kill E. coli and other dangerous contaminants. Few Americans realized the product was a mainstay of fast-food burgers, school lunch tacos and homemade meatloaf.
Today, the South Dakota company’s revenues have plummeted from more than $650 million to about $130 million a year, and three of its plants are shuttered. Company officials blame the abrupt falloff on a series of ABC News broadcasts that began last March – stories that repeatedly called its product “pink slime.”
BPI hired a high-powered Chicago trial lawyer and in September slapped the network, star anchor Diane Sawyer and other defendants with a 27-count lawsuit that seeks at least $1.2 billion in damages – about one-fifth of the fiscal 2012 net income of American Broadcasting Co parent Walt Disney Co. ”

  3. Any other company making adjustments to stay competitive is a union busting people hating member of the corporate oligarchy according to a Torstar headline

  4. I keep getting a nagging prophecy where the Star is on the NDP and LPC “too-big-to-fail” fed bail out list.
Canada’s Pravda will get a “heritage grant” before it tanks – it will become Canada’s “public” news paper to compliment Canada’s “public” broadcaster.
Remember, even in this era of so-called conservative government and lean fiscal times, CBC’s budget is larger than the Army’s.

  5. Fred, hopefully this suit is successful.
This is good news about the Toronto Red Star.
If the United Church of Canada is the NDP at prayer, the Toronto Red Star is the NDP on the newstands.

  6. As usual, the socialism, solidarity with the workers and all the usual left wing platitudes end at the front door. What’s the problem — can’t spend your way out of debt?

  7. “The Toronto Star is slashing 55 jobs, about 9 per cent of its workforce, with about half coming out of the editorial department.”
Thus we will have 50% fewer opinion editorials on why Rob Ford should not be mayor of Toronto notwithstanding the election results, and winning several court cases against the left-o-cracy…
That deserves another cup of coffee!
    Cheers

  8. They’re a paper, they must have printing machines, why don’t they follow their Dear Leader’s example and simply print money?
Surely the task they set for themselves – to enlighten the ignorant masses to their, better way of thinking – is more important than legal mumbo jumbo about printing money?
Where’s Carlos Slim when they need him…

  9. The only problem is the people losing their jobs have no control over the content of the paper. No writer or editorial scibbler is gone. Just the people who layout the paper. Funny how the paper of the “99%” cuts the jobs of their “99%” first. Mallick, Walcolm, siddiqi etc will all keep their high paying jobs.

  10. Ummmmmm…..looks like ok is back from the jihad training, and off her meds again.Where’s Bedlam when you need it?

  11. Give OK (Ameen) a break.
“we need help to stop them in Canada”
See! I think OK is asking Canada to stop Muslim immigration. I, for one, agree!

  12. Perhaps the Ivory Tower dwellers at Torstar could relay the method of survival to P O T U S, eh!
Or for that matter from any Mom & Pop Variety store owner!!

  13. Fire the people who print socialist lies but never examine the lies they can’t sell anymore.
    “FORWARD”

  14. Geeez. What an awful position to be in:
Job Applicant: “I was just layed off as a reporter at The Star.
Interviewer: Sorry, our Greeters have to have some skills and honesty…

  15. Poor starving, tortured Ameen. You must be desperate to escape.
I hope Mallick doesn’t get canned. Crazy that entertaining doesn’t come along every day.

  16. So, let me get this straight. The same company that hounds Rob Ford for wanting to outsource jobs…is outsourcing some of their own jobs…okey doke.
