Another day, another “crisis”;
To recap, the sequester was originally supposed to total $109 billion – but lawmakers delayed its onset by two months during the fiscal cliff negotiations. Now U.S. President Barack Obama – who first proposed the sequester as part of the 2011 debt ceiling deal – wants to delay it again.
According to Obama, the sequester would represent “a huge blow to middle-class families and our economy as a whole.” Obama’s White House has also referred to the sequester as “devastating,” saying its cuts would “imperil our economy, our national security (and) vital programs that middle class families depend on.”
Sounds frightening – but is it true? Of course not.

Somehow, when discussing any issue involving the Obama admin, the question, “Is it true?”, becomes rhetorical. Nonetheless, half the country believes every word uttered from Obama’s mouth, while the other half are offended, angered and concerned that the POTUS would so blatently lie to them.
And so the division deepens and continues.
Always the “middle class” set to suffer the greatest…. I’m puzzled why the administration doesn’t just come out and say that “All the puppies will die if you don’t support us!”
Our local station ran a piece on how the local airport may have to shut control tower ops down at night because of funding and there would be long delays. I think they could save far more money
if they just sacked half of the TSA morons. But that’s just at the airport.
Of the $85+Bil in question, you mean to tell me that there aren’t pork projects that could be cut without harming the middle class? Of course not, but the problem is the well heeled
constituents will have none of it.
We’ll keep funding Solyndra, all under the pretense of “creating jobs for the middle class”, won’t we?
Sadly, the only middle class this country helps is in other countries, and even that’s using trickle down.
Vital programs that middle class families depend on???? Give me a break! Does he believe that middle class families are all at the public dole as much as he is? The words betray an individual who seems to think that government programs are what keeps the economy afloat, and that self-reliance is an unpatriotic trait.
It always strikes me as bizarre when Democrats, NDPers and other communist running dogs speak of their concern for the middle class. They hate the middle class and want it eliminated. They used to call it the petit bourgeoisie, a label for property owners, money savers who are invested in the existing order and resist ‘progressive’ change, making them the enemy of the socialist revolution. So it really is Orwellian madness when an Obama or a Jackoff Layton voice their concern for the middle class. A Big Lie.
He is like listening to a toned down North Korean Kim, good Americans can thank the Oprah, for pimping this “community organizer” into the white house, and all the other fools who voted for this court jester, for they are to blind to see the road behind them is the road out of the forrest, the map they used before created their prosperity they now use the Hollywood maps that denigrate and dump on working families and job creating people. The shuck and jive “rapper” road ahead goes over a cliff.
This failed megalomaniacal savior of America …. shall henceforth be known as Jesus Crisis.
Cuts? What cuts? There are no cuts, just a reduction in the amount of spending increase. With the sequester, more will be spent this year than last year.
The lies are getting tiresome.
Yep, “Cash For Clunkers” was critical to the middle class.
They’re getting tiresome from the fart catchers and water carriers, the parrots that keep repeating the ridiculous stories to defend ZERO and his obfuscations.
Let them roast in their juices.
What we need is our own administration to work the back channels, and get those wealthy, disgusted Americans to see the light, and come to a country that welcomes the successful, to continue their ways, rather than stay in a country that denigrates them.
Except for the Hollyweird set, Buffett and company, and the other cronies that support this third world despot from Chitown.
Never let a Crisis go to waste.
Crisis, what crisis? There’s no crisis, oh wait we will create a crisis.
Feel better now, crisis is now averted since we will not cut 0.000(whatever)% of the estimated increased
spending.
The commies have the keys to the vault..
You sure have that right. Where ever the radical Marxists have taken control they destroyed the bourgeoisie and the kulaks.
First, there is no a revenue problem there is a spending problem, second, there is no reduction only a decrease in the increase and finally the amount of the sequestration proposed will have no effect on any demographic except hysterical Obama supporters.
Voters expecting/demanding fiscal responsibility, constitutional constraint and accountability , or even just an effective opposition from the GOP are being disappointed daily. Public approval ratings of congress are nearing triple digits and are the lowest in history.
It;s time the US voter understands that the party system has failed them. Both parties carry forward an almost identical agenda – one that is not that of the electorate but of the large interests who fund their election and party.
Time to turf all incumbents and start looking at independent candidates. Kick the old line parties to the curb as they have done to the voter.
Please, as if I hadn’t heard all week the howls of the Yankee neocons decrying the supposed nefarious effects of sequestration just as much or even worse than Obama.
From the same article —
“U.S. Speaker John Boehner (Republican for those that need it spelled out) has repeatedly referenced “the president’s sequester” while decrying its “harmful cuts.”
What hypocrisy. Obama and Boehner both supported the sequester as an excuse for yet another unsustainable run-up of our nation’s credit limit – which exhausted its latest $2.1 trillion increase last December (after less than seventeen months).”
Why are the cuts harmful according to Republican Speaker John Boehner?
“This failed megalomaniacal savior of America …. shall henceforth be known as Jesus Crisis.”
This is a very apt description of Barak Obama, but the pronunciation should be Jesus as in the Spanish “hesus”.
Now remember the middle class = Democrats, the rich = Republicans.
There seems to be no sense of urgency in Washington. As the Forbes article points out, there is runaway spending, massive unfunded pension and medical obligations with massive debt growth. Yet the parties try to blame each other over the “cost” of sequester.
What does the future hold for the US economy? Interest rates will rise with inflation (if they don’t then expect even more harmful deflation ie Japan) while the boomers impose heavy costs on the taxpayer by withdrawing from work because they want, or have to, thus reducing the of productivity v.v economic growth, while accessing pension and medical programs, for whose costs this presidency continues to gleefully assign to the US treasury.
The bill for recent US excesses has not even come due yet. When it does it will surely be with much larger debt/interest/refinancing costs and a slowing economy much less able to carry the costs of borrowing.
This will likely happen during Obama’s term and if the Dems go ahead with gun control, the president and his party will suffer mightily. So even if the Dems, as I believe, don’t really give a s**t about the “middle class” they seem not to understand they are committing political suicide with this insane spending and borrowing.
As for the GOP, oh my God what a mess. This party presently has its head so far up its butt it can’t see that cooperation on sequester or any other idiotic spend and borrow policies is precisely the wrong approach. Fighting the Dems with everthing they’ve got on their excesses is the only option. Whatever goes wrong will be blamed on the GOP anyway.
Yes the MSM, the statist intelligencia (and of course the cool celebrities) will have a cow; just ride it out or help preside over an awaiting economic tsunami which could very well hurl the US into a deep recession or even a devastating deflationary depression.
Whats lacking in the rhetoric is a definition of middle class.
Each politician should be forced to define their term.
I think conservatives mean people who earn from 50 000 up and pay taxes ect.
But liberals appear to mean every one on the govt dole is middle class, if you are not dependent on government you are rich, thats why your taxes went up by many dollars, not a single cent.
As should be well understood, words are the first thing progressives, liberals and the media seek to distort.
It depends on what the meaning of is, is????
Middle class families wouldn’t need “programs” if they could keep more of their paycheck. Just a suggestion…
Everyone knows Obama’s idea of a “middle class family” is one presided over by a morbidly obese cow of an affirmative-action hire working 9 to 5 at the IRS in DC to keep herself in soul food, weekly nail appointments and a four-pack-a-day cigarette habit at taxpayer expense—oh, and keep her three pups in designer shoes. Of course Jezebel will be in trouble if any real cuts are made. In the real world she would be unemployable at anything more complicated than cleaning toilets, and her baby-daddies are rarely of help even those odd months they’re out of prison.
“Rich” is code for “white people who work at an honest job, pay taxes, wait to have children until after marriage, and obey the law.” They probably do appear rich to Jezebel. “Crackers” always seem to have plenty of money and far fewer problems.
Dan: Great comment, but what did you mean by,
“our own administration”?
Could you be more specific, please?
If Obama says the cuts are going to hurt middle class families, you can count on it.
If Obama says the cuts are going to hurt middle class families, you can count on it.
He’s going to make sure they do. Socialists like Obama despise the middle class; we’re economically independent, we usually have stable nuclear families, and we are a big wrench in the machine that is massive government.
The goal of socialism is to destroy the middle class, to do to it much of the same that the left has done to the black community since the 60s: discourage hard work, undermine marriage, and support government dependency. Knock us down to the poverty level where our choice is subsist on government handouts or starve/go homeless. Then the goal of Obama’s “perfecting” of America is reached: a class of government dependents (many of whom vote Democrat for their entitlements) and the elite.
2014 cannot come fast enough.
So irritating. $109 Billion, but actually $58 Billion. Approx the amount of money Obama borrows/prints in a month. Pocket change to a Dem politician but to the liberal media it’s a hullaballoo. A pack of disgusting morons.
Amy P, thank you. That was very well said and explains exactly how Marxists (Bolsheviks) operated in Russia.
