Hickman is no climate skeptic, but even his radar went off.

Why do some people always feel obligated to actually check whether the figures pulled out of various asses are valid or not. It just ruins the perception for the masses that the sky is falling and could even derail the hysteria gravy train so many depend on to keep the funding going. So inconsiderate.

Do you know that our European NATO allies (Holland and the UK) have spent an enormous amount of money planning for the effects of global warming? The military being the military…they have planned for EVERY aspect. Can you imagine the number of military planning staff and probably civilian emergency services planning staff that have been wasted on this? I’ll bet the combined salaries alone would dwarf the costs of both the Shania Twain and Human Rights Museums. Imagine if those military planners had been used to plan the demise of the Taliban in Afghanistan instead of global warning. We will never know how many different strategies would have resulted if that had happened.

I remember not long ago a scientist was talking on CO2. He said in the past we had much higher levels, and the trees animals ect. did better. In fact it protected us when we went through cycles of global cooling.He was even saying that our current levels are too low, billions may starve to death when the next cycle of global cooling comes around.
It was interesting to hear a different point of view. I never heard from him again, and I cant remember his name.

The BBC, along with CBC, TVO, PBS and virtually every other MSM outlet will continue to broadcast shows that feature the requisite amount of climate alarmism.
Last night I watched 2 TV shows. The first one was a documentary about the interaction of bison and wolves in Wood Buffalo National Park. Right on cue, ten minutes from the end of the program, the narrator switched his camera from wolf cubs to the ponds and pipes of the Oil Sands and gave us his dreary forcast about the future of wolves and buffalo.
The second program was titled Earth from Space, and was an informative program about how data from satellites that track air and ocean currents reveal global interactions that were previously unknown. Then, along it came: “2005 had the highest amount of hurricane activity ever recorded….” At which point I shut off the TV.
It was interesting to follow this gaffe and the comments on it in the Guardian. The alarmists don’t bat an eye when this happens. Every time they come out with another bald-faced lie and get caught in it, it’s always “an honest mistake” (note the “mistakes” are always made in the same direction) and they respond to any challenge, not by addressing the actual issue, but by coming out with ten more bald-faced lies like “ninety-eight percent of scientists agree . . . blah, blah, blah”. It turns into a game of whack-a-mole with their BS. And they’ve got an inexhaustible string of lies to lure someone into their little fantasy web.
I usually just step back and ask them about a couple of key points in some fundamental papers and keep dragging them back to it. When they invariably admit that they haven’t actually read the papers I let them have it and point out that as it comes to a serious discussion on a given topic when it’s climate alarmists vs Jehovah’s Witnesses at least the Jehovah’s Witnesses have read their own stuff.
Well if it’s “some parts” it ain’t global warming, it’s local weather.
We’ve been getting some fairly nice weather here in southern Alberta but elsewhere they’re getting hammered with winter.
When I hear some people remark on it I remind them of the difference between local and global.
That said, I’m guessing either Attenborough pulled the number out of his a$$ or the locality where these temperatures was measured was adjacent to the air conditioner in a few African cities.
The sole basis for the 3.5C claim can be traced to the relocation of a particular instrument from a higher to lower altitude, with no attendant adjustment to the relevant data. Just as in the case of the incremental rise of surface temperatures resulting from heat island effect changes due to urbanization, the data can be deliberately mis-read to bolster an argument.
I guess we’ll continue to see hyperbolic rhetoric in place of empirical science until there is a downside to such corrupt behaviour.
I guess it’s to be expected that when you finally dig to the bottom of the barrel of poop you keep coming up with the same names, ie IPCC or NASA, who have already proven themselves time and time again to be liars. In the end to find out whether something is a lie just find out who started the story.
Following on Robert of Pentiction, I would simply ask the question: “WHY was the wx station moved to the lower altitude?” Would be very interesting to know the reasons why–might be bureaucratically trivial reasons–but there could more sinister ones as well..

Carbon Dioxide is NOT a pollutant. It is a natural fertilizer, with no known side effects. More CO2 means better crops yields.
Of course we need more CO2*, doubling the current .038% concentration to start with. More CO2 = More life.
Increased CO2 levels do NOT cause runaway global warming. The atmosphere on both Venus and Mars have over 95% CO2 yet no runaway planetary warming on either planet .

Attenborough is a member of Britain’s elites, for which I increasingly lose respect (HRH Queen Elizabeth excepted).
They’ve got the positions, the titles, the real estate, the bank accounts, the prestige, but no sense of noblesse oblige, i.e., they’ve dropped the ball on leadership: “I’m alright, mate. Who cares about you?” They’ve lost that sense of caring leadership in direct proportion to their trashing of the Judeo-Christian faith of their fathers and mothers. (That’s why I except the Queen; she understands the central importance of faith in caring for the less fortunate.)
